November, 2018 Vedic Astrology Blog – Mercury Retrograde on Nov. 16

November 4, 2018

Wishing you the best of the planetary energies as we move into another month and the planets again play “musical signs” as they move from one position to another. Let’s see what the month of November holds for you. As usual, I’m available and delighted to provide more specific insights if you book individual readings with me.

11/05/18 – MARS moves from Capricorn which is its exaltation sign, into Aquarius. The biggest blessing of this move is that Mars gets away from the conjunction its had with malefic Ketu, south node of the Moon, and a real sticky, tricky player in the pantheon of planets.  This will be a big help to just about everybody!  When Mars is that strong (exaltation) it can be overpowering and just a little “too full of himself” – sure, he stands for energy, courage, drive, competition, initiative, but also on the other side of the coin, anger, irritation, impatience and temper. Ketu would have played a role in bringing out his worst qualities. Things can begin to cool off for Capricorn Rising Sign and Moon sign people, and the world as a whole. Mars represents the principle of war, after all.  Amazing, isn’t it, that this planet shift occurs the night before the election?  Cooler heads should prevail, and voters could get the credit, but Mars moving into a place where it can cool off some, is the planetary reason here.

11/11/18 – JUPITER combust the Sun.  This great benefic, representing good fortune, wisdom, happiness,  recently (last month) began its one year transit through Scorpio, a friend’s sign. As it travels a little too close to the Sun, it’s qualities can feel impinged upon a bit, affecting those with Sagittarius and Pisces Ascendants and Moon signs the most. It moves beyond this combust condition on 12/09/18.

11/16/18 – A big day with several planet changes:

VENUS goes direct motion. This is helpful to the Libras and Taureans, to begin to feel progress again, after the retrograde period which began 10/05/18.

Sun enters Scorpio, so it’s getting out of its debilitation status that it was in for a month in Libra. This is helpful for Leos, the sign ruled by the Sun, and brings more energy to Scorpios, along with an inclination to play some leadership role, which is great, as long as you don’t let the ego get too big. Sun energy can do that! But, for sure, enjoy that extra vitality now. Sun also stands for government, so it does seem like this one month transit can bring more balance to those holding ruling positions at various levels of government.

MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE today. Yes, here we go again. Mercury rules commerce, so deals you are involved with may find sudden snags popping up. Mercury rules communication, thus interpersonal misunderstandings can be the norm now, as well as glitches in communication equipment. Mercury rules friendship, so watch for getting too impatient with your friends, and don’t let inadvertent misunderstandings damage long standing positive connections. It’s a time for all to have more patience and really focus on being tactful, because Mercury does also rule diplomacy and tactfulness, so while it’s in retrograde motion, those qualities may be harder to come by naturally. This period lasts until 12/06/18. As usual, those with Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs, get impacted to the greatest degree.

11/21/18 – Mercury goes Combust the Sun, adding to the quicker trigger conversations, etc. described in the above Mercury retrograde paragraph. If you were already concerned about how those family Thanksgiving conversations were going to go, yeah. It will be even more challenging than usual with the above afflictions on Mercury! It will come out of combustion on 12/02/18.

11/22/18 – Now I don’t want to rain on your Thanksgiving dinner, but…we have a FULL MOON this very day! The height of the Moon’s fullness is reached close to 11:00 p.m. Mountain Time, so the energy is building up to and through that point.  This occurs in the sign of Taurus, where it is exalted. The Moon represents mind and emotions. Here in Taurus it is the strongest. Yet we all know how full moons pull on the emotional states of human beings, as research in hospitals, prisons and mental hospitals have shown. It’s a good house for those the Moon rules, Cancers, as it is their 11th house of gain and income. Yet if you add together, the energy typical in many Thanksgiving family gatherings, with Mercury retrograde and combust and now this full Moon stirring the deeper emotions and memories, there can be more drama this year than usual, in your family gatherings!

FINDING YOUR LIFE PARTNER by Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer  720-448-3742

Romantic relationships can either contribute to great happiness or great sorrow, in most of our lives.  Are you one who has a deep desire to bond with someone who is your ideal counterpart?

If you are tired of the pain of “trying to make it work” in situations that are so difficult, that turn out to be outright dysfunctional or your worst nightmare, take heart.  Learning more about what you really need and how to spot that in a potential partner, is easier than you think. I can give you an understanding of your key Love Languages, for one thing, which reveals how you most need to connect with others, to feel liked, loved, appreciated, valued, heard and seen.

COMPATIBILITY  – In my work as a Vedic Astrologer for the past 30 years, I have helped many couples, as well as singles wanting to be sure they have found Mr. or Ms. Right.  My training in this 5000-year-old Vedic Science of understanding the blueprint or roadmap for your life, lets us see if you have found the treasure of lasting love or may be once again barking up the wrong tree.

Key Elements of Successful Relationships:

In addition to the tried and true elements of mutual love, trust and respect, please make sure you have alignment with the would-be partner in these key areas:

  1. Communication – If you are born with a different style of communication than your partner, there are tools and insights I can provide which may help. Understanding that we all employ thinking, feeling and acting, but not necessarily in that order, is very important. It helps us understand that not everyone “processes” information or experiences the way we do. Respecting the differences can bring harmony and smoothness to the relationship.

  2. Passion – It’s either there or it’s not!  This is not an area where we can “pretend it doesn’t matter” or that it will get better in time.  You may have a beautiful friendship but without the charm of that special spark of sexual attraction and compatibility, it’s no use trying to trick your mind into believing that the lack of this type of energetic connection will change or improve over time. The Venus/Mars connections, or Venus/Venus connections between two charts make all the difference there.

  3. Friendship – This element IS also important in a marriage or union (in addition to passion).  When I examine two people’s charts, it is clear to me if it is there, or instead, its nemesis: competition.  Let’s leave the competitive spirit in the Olympics or sports contests, for it has no place in a friendship or marriage and has ruined many of both.

  4. Shared Life Interest or Life Work – This takes a couples’ attention to a higher realm of a combined contribution to the planet, to mankind, to the betterment of one’s society, country or life on Earth.  The inner satisfaction of working as a team, on a project or mission that is “bigger than both of us” expands both hearts and lifts the boat of your relationship to sail out in the tide of the larger Sea of Life and feel in the flow of a higher purpose.  This could be a joint volunteer effort, something you enjoy doing together in your spare time, or an actual vocational calling in which you work together daily.

If you are dating someone and starting to get serious, I urge you to contact me for a compatibility reading!  You’ll learn all about your Ayurvedic Love Languages and just how compatible your charts are for the long term.

March 2018 Planets: VENUS Goes Into Exaltation

March 1, 2018

Spring Comes in with Benefic Venus Becoming Exalted.

3/01/18 – VENUS enters Pisces late in the night, which is its sign of exaltation. Taurus Ascendant and Moon sign people should be very happy, as the ruler of their chart will be now in their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire, exalted, no less. Woo hoo!  Venus also rules Libra, but for the Librans this is the 6th house of worry, stress, obstacles, health issues, so it will not be as positive a transit for them. Pisceans will gain energy and feel warm and loving, as their sensual and artistic side comes out more thanks to Venus. Those with Cancer Ascendants or Moon signs will be delighted to see Venus move into their 9th (best) house to increase their good luck and fortunes now.

3/02/18 – MERCURY enters Pisces, joining his friend Venus in this dual water sign. The only thing is, that is his sign of debilitation, where he feels weakest. Fortunately, having Venus conjunct in this sign now, grants him Neechabhanga yoga, which is a cancellation of that debilitation, to a large degree. These two planets, when traveling together, bring more playfulness, so that’s the party Pisces Rising and Moon sign people will be feeling now.  For Virgos, ruled by Mercury, it’s a good house to connect them to partners, business and/or travel. For Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, this is their 10th house of career, action, name and fame so it’s also a helpful transit for them.

3/05/18 – Mercury goes non-combust. That means it is now traveling far enough apart from the Sun, to no longer have its qualities suppressed.  Much of the recent irritability and impatience will be gone, for everyone, as Mercury rules communication, but the Virgos and Geminis will especially benefit.

3/07/18 – MARS moves into Sagittarius.  Here it joins its enemy Saturn. This will not be so comfortable for those with Sagittarius Rising or Moon signs, because this duo together represents push/pull energy or “hurry up and wait.” It will also not bring the most positive situations for the Aries and Scorpios either, as Mars rules their charts. At least this is the best (9th) house for Aries, and will increase their good luck. This is the 2nd house for Scorpios, so can help them with finances, but with some delays or obstacles, brought on by Saturn.

3/08/18 – JUPITER, the great benefic goes retrograde now, and it will stay in this condition until July 10th. Retrograde status for a benefic, makes it stronger in its benefic qualities (and the opposite when it is malefic planet). The only folks who may feel a sudden halt or slowdown in some of their plans will be those ruled by Jupiter, the signs of Sagittarius and Pisces.  Jupiter is currently in the sign of Libra, which is not a great thing for the Librans, for even though it is a great benefic, it does not rule the best houses for Libra. Thus, it is bringing 6th house energy to those with this Rising or Moon sign, i.e. worry, stress, obstacles, delays, health issues, etc.

3/14/18 – The SUN enters Pisces, joining Venus and Mercury there. The Sun can bring some stress to the Pisceans, as it rules their 6th house of worries, stress, enemies, rivals and competitors. For those ruled by the Sun, Leos, the ruler of their chart is now crossing their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion. So Leos need to be ready for some “changes” with three planets now transiting their transformation house.

3/22/18 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE!  Hang in there Virgos and Geminis.  You know the drill with this influence. It will last until 4/15/18, and affects communication, commerce, tactfulness and diplomacy. The positive, cheerful qualities of Mercury will be lacking to a degree now.   Traditionally, this is never a good period for anyone to sign a contract, start a new business, get married, etc. Conditions get further aggravated when Mercury goes COMBUST the Sun on 3/24/18. Combustion makes a planet (and those ruled by it) more easily angered or irritated, and just feeling somewhat rough.  This combustion period lasts until 4/08/18.

3/26/18 – VENUS enters Aries, fire sign of new beginnings, just as Spring has officially gotten underway.  This brings both good finances and partners to those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, due to the houses it rules for them.  Libras will be happier to have this benefic ruler of their chart now traveling through their house of partners, business and travel. Taureans will either feel to isolate themselves a little more, or need to watch out for spending too much now. At least it is the house of “bed pleasures” and foreign travel for them.

Remember that for any difficult transit or dasha period (personal planetary cycle) there are ancient Vedic remedies known as Yagyas, which I can describe to you, to alleviate some layers of obstacles. These are most beneficial for “engineering the karma” away from the owner of the chart.

Planet News for February, 2015

January 31, 2015

Mary Stevenson Vedic Astrologer is my new Facebook page for my work. I’ll be posting more frequent updates on that if you care to “like” it and follow weekly planet changes on that site.

My website has several articles I’ve written, including one about the difference between western and Vedic Astrology, which you may find helpful. http://www.vedicstarcharts.com

February planet changes include some positive news for Virgos and Geminis Ascendents and Moon signs, as MERCURY, the lord of their chart goes “non-combust the Sun” on Feb. 4, and finally gets out of Retrograde, going direct on Feb. 11.  Communications should flow more smoothly for everyone after that, as well as dealing with any equipment concerned with communications.

Feb. 12 – the SUN moves into the fixed air sign of Aquarius late in the day. Those with Leo Rising or Moon signs will enjoy having the ruler of their sign, the Sun, move into their 7th house, of partners, business and travel, after spending 30 days in their 6th house of obstacles, delays, enemies, rivals and competitors.  Both Capricorn and Aquarius are ruled by Saturn, thus the Sun will continue to transit in an enemy’s sign, but at least the house position is better for Leo individuals.  Since the Sun can also represent “government”, perhaps the humanitarian properties of Aquarius can now help our politicians do some GOOD for the public, rather than the stubborn, Capricornian constant bickering. We can hope for this improvement.

Feb. 12 – on this same day, MARS now enters the dual water sign of Pisces. Mars owns “money houses” for those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs, so it’s good on that level. Ketu has already been crossing the sign of Pisces since last July, so having Mars join it there, will add a boost of energy, but it may be the impulsive kind, which needs to be tempered with some common sense, vs. jumping into anything.  We have to remind our Pisces friends that “haste makes waste.”  Also,  another reminder is to avoid any type of substance abuse. If you have a latent tendency in that direction, as a Pisces, Ketu may be triggering you to act out more on that impulse.  Understanding the planetary influences on your chart at this time can be very helpful, as in the old saying “Knowledge has liberating power.” At least Ketu should be deepening intuitive abilities in our Pisces friends now.

Feb. 15 – Benefic VENUS now joins Mars in Pisces and this is the sign of exaltation for Venus where its positive energies can shine brightest.  Here Venus can inspire the Pisces folks to feel more beautiful (and sexy, too, with Mars crossing there in conjunction with Venus). We cannot forget the additional effect of having Ketu there in the mix. On the down side, Venus can make a person feel more “self indulgent”, as well as the positive influence of feeling more creative and affectionate at this time.  There are many Pisces Rising or Moon folks that I have known who already come with a built-in lack of “self discipline” anyway, so this planet combination can exacerbate the situation. It pays to be mindful about these planetary affects.

At least we do have the continued blessing of benefic JUPITER shining his aspect from his sign of Exaltation, Cancer, onto Saturn, AND on the sign of Pisces and all the planets that will be traveling through that sign this month, including Ketu, Mars and Venus. Thus he is able to keep these planets “in check.”

So there you have it….February is not a long month, and this year, there are not a lot of major planetary shifts happening, except for the relief everyone will feel when Mercury gets out of retrograde, on Feb. 11.

To understand how these planetary shifts affect your own life in 2015, please call me to schedule your personal reading.

The Planets of August, 2014 – Vedic Astrology Update

August 7, 2014

Starry greetings to you, from Sedona, Arizona!

First I have an inquiry: how many of you with Libra Rising or Moon signs in the Vedic system “felt a change” once Rahu had moved out of Libra on July 13th?  I’ve had two reports of profound improvement, which I had been predicting for some time, and glad that my Libra friends finally can feel some relief. Of course that will be even more so, after November 2nd when Saturn also moves out of Libra.

August 7th – Venus enters Cancer and stays in this water sign until August 31st, so the Cancerians can enjoy the comforts, pleasures, affection, creativity, art, music, even some luxuries, and sociability which this benefic planet brings.

August 8th – Benefic JUPITER, which just so recently (6/18) entered CANCER, its sign of Exaltation for a one year transit, this date will get out of being “combust the Sun” which began on July 9th. Thus those ruled by Jupiter – Pisces and Sagittarius – should feel relief now.  They could have been feeling more on edge or easily irritated,  more than they normally ever do, during that combust period.

August 12th – Mercury enters Leo and will stay there until August 29th.  For Virgo Ascendents and Moon Sign folks, this represents the ruler of your chart crossing your 12th house. Thus you could feel a bit more isolated or conversely, craving some solitude during this time. There may also be some unwanted expenses or losses during this transit. For Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, here the lord of your chart is crossing the 3rd house which may serve to make you quite busy with projects, writing or interacting with a sibling. Also short journeys are enhanced for the Geminis at this time, while it is a good time for Virgos to do some foreign travel.

August 16th – SUN enters LEO, its own sign. Here the Sun is very happy indeed and those with Leo Rising or Moons, will feel energized and “on stage” now – they love to be in the limelight and get attention, so this will be easier to accomplish now, and let their natural leadership ability shine, than the previous one month journey of the Sun through their 12th house would have been.

August 23 – Finally Mercury gets out of the combust the Sun period which began on July 26.  This has been another period (and we are still in it until August 23!) where communication in general could be a little more “snappish” than we are used to, and this especially affects the Geminis and Virgos.  Care will need to be taken with both the spoken and written word during such transits…efforts should be made to employ more tactfulness, friendliness and diplomacy, all qualities which Mercury represents, as the Combustion makes those be in short supply until this is over.  Also, the Pitta or heat element could be out of balance in the Gemini and Virgos’ physiology as well as psychology whenever a combust the Sun time occurs, so take measures to “cool off” on all levels.

August 29th – Mercury enters VIRGO, its own sign, where it is very strong and even gets exalted in the middle degrees of this sign.  It will stay here until September 20th.  Virgos and Gemini Rising and Moon signs can enjoy the increased energy of the ruler of their charts being in such high dignity. Communication, curiosity, friendliness and commerce will benefit for most people now, since Mercury governs all these areas.

August 31st – VENUS enters Leo where it will stay until September 24th. Benefic Venus brings her blessings to this fire sign now. Venus is the ruling planet for Taurus and Libra Rising and Moon signs. For Taurus, Leo is the 4th house so this helps you enjoy the pleasures of home, friends and family now. Were you thinking of buying a new vehicle? This could be a good time for that. For Librans, this is your 11th house of gain, income, fulfillment of desire, so quite a nice transit for you as well.

Wishing you many blessings, from the Sunshine Corner, now here in Sedona, AZ. New Tel. No. 928-284-4060.Thank you for any referrals you may send me. I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please just call me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, taped session.  Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com.

Both SATURN & MERCURY going Retrograde

February 18, 2013

Planet Movements for February, 2013

SATURN – goes retrograde tomorrow morning, February 18th and will stay in this condition until July 7th.

Since August 3, 2012, Saturn has been transiting LIBRA, the sign in which it receives Exalted dignity. Malefic Rahu joined it there on January 14, 2013 (and Rahu stays in this sign for 18 months).  A planet in exaltation is in its highest dignity, and thus considered more able to deliver on the qualities it stands for. Yet we were taught that “Exalted Saturn means exalted grief”, since grief, obstacles and delays are some of Saturn’s qualities.

For the signs which Saturn “rules”, Capricorn and Aquarius, Saturn is transiting very good houses (the 10th of career, action, name and fame; the 9th house of good luck, respectively).  For Libra Ascendents or Moon signs, Saturn is the Yoga Karaka, or best planet, so we still expect it to bring good things for these signs, in any case.  For society at large, Saturn is governing servants, and those who labor — sitting with Rahu, and now going retrograde, we could see some restlessness and even chaos in these segments of the population now. Attention will be drawn to their plight, and perhaps (finally) some solutions can be found, such as increasing the minimum wage, which has sadly lagged behind the cost of living increases, for many years now.

MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE ON FEBRUARY 23- and stays that way until March 17th.  It will be in the Sign of Aquarius when this occurs, along with the Sun, Mars and Venus. The “planetary pile up” in the fixed Air sign of Aquarius will bring some positive energy, at least from Venus (Yogakaraka planet for Aquarians). Mars is already there and bringing more energy and ambition (but perhaps some irritation, anger or quarrelsomeness as well). Even Mercury brings the ability to learn new things now, something that always appeals to Aquarians. The Sun rules the 7th house for this Air sign, and thus can attract new partners, whether personal or business partners.

VENUS went combust the Sun on February 16th and stays that way until May 6th, so those with Taurus or Libra Rising or Moon signs, take note, as you may find yourself feeling more peevish or easily stressed or irritated during this period. Patience is such a virture, isn’t it? LOL.

As usual, I am happy to oblige with a personal reading, yearly reading, couples compatibility reading or astrocartography reading, if you would like to book an appointment. Please just call on me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, taped session. From the Sunshine Corner, as ever, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, 303-473-9393, healingevents@yahoo.com.
