January, 2018 – Planets in the Vedic Sky

January 2, 2018

First, an overview of highlights for 2018, and then I’ll touch on the planet moves for January.

Cancer Rising and Moon sign folks will have to make peace with all the changes that Rahu passing through that sign will bring them throughout 2018.  Cancerians enjoy the peaceful pleasures of home life, but Rahu likes to cause chaos and unexpected events. Change is the “constant” for the year ahead, and possible dealings with “foreigners.” Rahu also stands for transformation, so we can visualize positive changes, if we are willing to embrace growth.

Across the zodiac, those with Capricorn Ascendants or Moon signs are experiencing the transit of Ketu, the south node of the Moon, through their sign. It stands for “hindrance and degradation” so there may be much soul-searching going on, some shyness, and even psychic experiences. Ketu can also bring a sudden mobilization of energy and a sudden manifestation of events. It is the other half of Rahu, the cosmic serpent, so unrest is likely, but again, can be used as a tool for greater understanding of one’s deeper nature, and for growth, if we decide to not resist the experiences it is sure to bring.  In addition, SATURN, ruler of Capricorn, is passing through their 12th house of isolation, seclusion, loss and expenses. This also can bring a focus on spiritual development and enlightenment.

Scorpios are enjoying a nice break now that Saturn finally moved from their sign on 10/26/2017. That is the first time for Scorpios to be free of the heaviness and restrictions Saturn can bring, for the previous 2.5 years. There are more good things to look forward to in the coming year, depending on the transits of Mars, lord of your chart (watch my blog posts, or get a yearly reading with me), and the icing on the cake is benefic Jupiter, friend of Mars, moving into Scorpio on 10/11/2018.

For Libras, Jupiter is not their best planet, based on the houses it rules. Until it moves out of their sign on 10/11/2018, it will bring more work, service to perform, and various projects. That won’t wear you out, but keep you busy, for sure. You’ll have to watch for weight fluctuations if you have Libra Rising or Moon sign.

Sagittarians now have the weight of Saturn on their sign, where it will stay for about 2.5 more years. This brings a more serious disposition to this normally fun-loving sign. It can bring money (rules their 2nd house) but lots of responsibilities and duties, and there’s just no getting around that.  Some may even have bouts of depression, but staying active, finding ways to help others, would be a good remedy for that.

ECLIPSES in 2018: January 31 = total lunar eclipse; February 15 = partial solar eclipse; July 13 = partial solar eclipse; July 27 = total lunar eclipse; August 11 = partial solar eclipse. I will describe each of these more fully, as I get to the monthly blog posts for those months.

JANUARY 2018 Transits: (to fully understand what they mean for YOU, it’s best to book a yearly reading with me. Call 720-448-3742).

1/01/2018 – We begin with a FULL MOON in Gemini. Cancerians (ruled by the Moon) may feel more inward, or even a little lonely or isolated, as this is a 12th house transit for them. On the other hand (a saying Geminis are very fond of…) they may feel a lot of spiritual fullness within as they use this time to meditate or reflect on where they are and the kind of year they’ve just experienced, coming through the challenges triumphantly. A la that song, “I’m still standing!” ♪

1/01/2018 – Both Saturn and Venus go combust the Sun today. This could bring some heightened edginess or easy irritability for the signs ruled by these planets: respectively, Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus and Libra. Saturn goes non-combust on 1/07/2018.  Venus goes non-combust on 2/19/2018.

1/06/2018 – MERCURY moves into Sagittarius. This is a welcomed position for those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs, as the ruler of their charts now shifts from the house of health problems, to the 7th house of business, partnership and travel. For Virgos, also ruled by Mercury, this is the 4th house of home, friends, vehicles, and self confidence, so it is also a good position.

1/13/2018 – VENUS enters Capricorn.  This is a friend’s sign so Venus is happy there. Good for both signs that Venus rules: for Taureans it will now be in their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, dharma, remedies and Natural Law. For Librans, this is their 4th house of comforts, home, friends, vehicles, self-confidence.

1/14/2018 – now the SUN joins Venus in Capricorn (which is one reason Venus is still combust into February, as they are traveling so close together now) This is not a friend’s sign for the Sun, which rules LEO. It is their 6th house of enemies, rivals, competitors, stress, worries, and health issues for our Leo friends, so they will have to wade through some of the above for a one month period now.

1/16/2018 – MARS happily enters Scorpio, its own sign, filling those who have this Rising or Moon sign with energy, courage, drive, initiative and the like. The only thing to watch for is possible bursts of anger or irritability, if things don’t happen as fast as you would like. Speaking of speed, better slow down, to avoid a speeding ticket during this transit! For the Aries Rising and Moon signs, also ruled by Mars, well…that is their 8th house, so there may be some vulnerability and changes to deal with.

1/26/2018 – MERCURY goes combust the Sun. This cycle in which a planet travels too close to the Sun (which makes a planet grouchy, angry, more reactive than normal) occurs more frequently for Mercury than any other planet, because it habitually travels closer to the Sun than the rest.  You may feel the subtle effects of just being more sensitive or reactive to things you normally would let roll off your back.  It can be helpful to employ meditative techniques to maintain your equilibrium and peace of mind during these cycles.

1/27/2018 – MERCURY enters Capricorn,  joining the Sun, Venus and Ketu in this Earth sign. Capricorn Rising and Moon sign people have a lot to juggle now, with many projects keeping them busy, some vulnerability brought to them by the Sun (ruler of their 8th house) but also some playfulness which Mercury and Venus traveling together generally bring to the party. This is the 8th house for Geminis, which represents vulnerability and transformation. It is the 5th house of education and success for Virgos, the other sign ruled by Mercury, so a better deal for the Virgos.

1/31/2018 – Total Lunar Eclipse, occurring in the sign of Cancer, which is ruled by the Moon. Those with Cancer Ascendants or Moon signs can expect to feel more sensitive than normal, as Rahu tries to “put out the light” of this luminary. Moon represents mind and emotions so can effect the clarity of one’s mental and emotional level now.  This eclipse will be visible in the USA, thus it has more impact on Americans. Here are all the areas of visibility for this one: western North America, North/East Europe, North/East Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, Antarctica,  the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans.  It is interesting that our current president was born during a total lunar eclipse, so I will be watching to see how this one affects him.  It occurs in his 12th house of loss.

November Vedic Planet Blog and a Memorial Tribute

November 2, 2017

Thank you if you have any friends that may forward my blogs to, who may find them of interest.

Saturn moved into Sagittarius on October 26th. I am wondering how that has affected your life?

Saturn has been sweeping away into the Next World, a number of people whose charts were thus affected, including famed Vedic Astrologer Chakrapani Ullal, and one of my closest friends, Sandra Messick. I am grieving the loss of my friend and dedicating this month’s Blog to her.

11/01/17- MERCURY moved into Scorpio today.  This works out fine for Virgos, as it will bring creative energy to their projects and help increase business. For the other sign ruled by Mercury, which is Gemini, this placement is not as helpful, as Scorpio represents their 6th house of health problems, enemies, rivals and competitors. Worry and nerves could now be a bother to our Gemini friends. It will stay in this sign until 11/24.

11/02/17 – VENUS moves into its own sign of Libra, where it becomes strong and healthy, which is a relief after its stint in Virgo, its sign of debilitation.  Venus joins the Sun and benefic Jupiter in this air sign, so lots of energy now for Libras, with two benefics and the Sun here.  Venus here relieves to a degree, the Sun’s debilitation in this sign. Libras benefit and may feel more like a flower in bloom than they have in some time.  Taureans are also ruled by benefic Venus.  Libra represents their 6th house so there it can multiply their worries, stress and some health concerns, especially the endocrine system or reproductive organs, so it’s a good time to get a check up.

11/09/17 – JUPITER gets out of combustion with the Sun. This will be a relief for Pisceans and Sagittarians, as this ruler of their charts has been traveling too close to the Sun for comfort since October 12th.

11/15/17 – The SUN enters water sign Scorpio, a friend’s sign.  The Sun rules Leo, so they will feel more connected to friends and enjoy the comforts of home. Scorpios, on the other hand, receive the 10th house action and power energy of the Sun now, which makes them more active.

11/24/17 – MERCURY enters fire sign Sagittarius.  Geminis will feel more outgoing, connecting to others more as the ruler of their charts crosses the 7th house of travel, business, partners and other people.  For Virgos, this is their 4th house, so also a positive placement. They should be spending more time with friends and supporters.

11/26/17 – VENUS enters Scorpio, bringing its charm to this fixed water sign.  Our Scorpio friends will feel more affectionate and attractive now.  Libras benefit as this is their 2nd house of wealth, family and speech.  Taurus Rising and Moon signs benefit from this transit with the ruler of their charts passing through their 7th house of business, partners and travel.

11/28/17 – Venus goes combust the Sun. When a planet travels too close to the Sun it can feel angry, irritable, edgy and more reactive than usual.  This translates into this type of underlying feeling level for Librans and Taureans, the signs that Venus rules.

11/29/17 – MARS moves into Libra today. This will energize those with Libra Rising or Moon signs, and bring attention from partners, family and a nice connection with money, based on the houses it rules for them.  For Scorpios, this is their 12th house so they could feel a bit more withdrawn or reclusive at this time.  But the wisest way to rule this placement is with a focus on spiritual development, possibly attending some retreat or even some foreign travel is possible for some.  For the other sign ruled by Mars, Aries, this is their 7th house of partners, so this transit serves to help them connect to a partner, focus now on business or enjoy some traveling.

Blessings of the planets to you, from the Sunshine Corner, happy to be back in Boulder, CO.  Tel. 720-448-3742 (cell); or 928-284-4060 (home).  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one especially as the holiday season nears, please call me, and we can schedule one of my 90 minute sessions.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com. vedicstarcharts.com

June Planets: All About Saturn as it Backs Up Into Scorpio

May 29, 2017

June is a month with some significant planet changes in their various transits around the fixed Zodiac, which is the system utilized by Vedic Astrology. We will explore here especially, the movements of two of the slower moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn. Going in order of the changes this month:

June 3 – MERCURY enters Taurus.  Here it is in a friend’s sign. This is an improvement for Virgo, one of the two signs that Mercury governs, as here Mercury is in the Virgos’ 9th house of good luck, good fortune and dharma.  It is not as good of a placement for the other sign ruled by Mercury, which is Gemini. For this sign, Taurus represents the 12th house,  thus it connects the Geminis with either foreign travel, loss and expenses, “bed pleasures,” or the desire to go inward and perhaps take some down time, alone. Feelings of isolation may occur. This would be an excellent time to attend a meditation retreat.

June 9 – The Full Moon occurs in water sign Scorpio, which is a friend’s sign, for the Moon. Those ruled by Moon, i.e. the sign of Cancer, should be feeling romantic or inquisitive at this time, as this represents their 5th house.  However, the Moon in this sign of its debilitation may bring on more emotional sensitivity than usual.

June 9 – That same day, MERCURY goes into combustion with the Sun, and this condition will last until July 3, creating a bit more tension in communications for many, in general. Especially the Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon sign people will feel the effects, which may cause some irritability or impatience in their interactions with others.

June 9 –  JUPITER gets out of retrograde and goes direct motion now!  There can be a greater sense of progress and moving forward by, especially by the two signs ruled by this great benefic, Sagittarius and Pisces.  Jupiter first went retrograde on February 5 (the 6th, in most of the country), so this will be an exciting and positive shift. Jupiter represents happiness, good judgment, good luck, good fortune and knowledge. These qualities can now be more in the forefront in the collective consciousness.

June 14 – The SUN enters air sign Gemini, bringing some energy and productivity to the Gemini Ascendants and Moon sign folks. It is also a positive placement for those ruled by the Sun, the Leos among us, for the lord of their chart will be passing through their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire. Nice.

June 18 – MERCURY enters Gemini, its own sign. Here it is happy and strong, bringing greater clarity to the collective intellect. Geminis should sign now. It’s also great for the Virgo Rising and Moon signs, as the ruler of their chart now crosses through their 10th house of action, career, name and fame.

June 20 – SATURN retrogrades all the way back into Scorpio!  Now we can get into the nitty-gritty of our slowest-moving planet. It takes 2.5 years for Saturn to change signs.  Saturn entered fire sign Sagittarius on January 26, but then it started this retrograde dance on April 5.  It continues to back up into the sign it had been in for over two years already, SCORPIO.  Thus the Scorpio rising and Moon sign folks get a little “bonus Saturn.  Though Saturn goes direct motion on August 25, it does not re-enter Sagittarius until October 26.

This period will be most noticeable by the two signs ruled by Saturn, which are Capricorn and Aquarius. Scorpio represents good houses for both of these signs.  For Capricorns, it is their 11th house of gain and income. For Aquarians, this their 10th house of career, action, name and fame.

For Scorpios, Saturn rules their 3rd and 4th houses, which isn’t so bad, as influences go. However, Saturn in its own right, represents grief, depression, obstacles, separation, hard work, service, and humility. Expect to experience one or more of these influences during those four months from June 20 until October 26.  A retrograde time always gives those affected an opportunity to revisit and finalize some things that were not completed and finished satisfactorily in the prior passage over this sign.

Although the “Sags” will experience a brief respite from the sometimes heavy pressures of Saturn’s passage there, bringing some relief for those four months.  Then they will get their turn again, when Saturn re-enters this sign on October 26 for the next 2.5 years period.  Owning their 2nd house of wealth, and 3rd house of self-efforts, as long as they are willing to work hard, stay organized and focused this transit does not have to be so bad.  Unless you have your Moon there.

This brings us to the subject of Sadhe Sati. This is a 7.5 year transit which each of us experience every 28 years (the first one in life depends on where one’s Moon and Saturn were at the time of birth).  Saturn spends 2.5 years in the house before the Moon, then smack dab on the Moon, and then the 2nd house to the Moon. This cycle can really cause us to become a lot more philosophical and detached vs. all the attachments that this mundane world can try and create within us, which only brings grief along the path.  I have so many friends who have their natal Moons in either Scorpio or Sagittarius, and I’ve witnessed the various pressures and hardships they have been under for the last 2.5 to 5 years.  Moon represents mind and emotion while Saturn represents grief and depression, thus you can see why this isn’t such a fun cycle, but we can certainly use it to grow, learn a lot of spiritual lessons and be of service to our fellow man.

June 29 – VENUS enters Taurus, its own sign. Thus Venus will be in high dignity at the same time that Mercury is in its own sign, as well. Happier times are thus on the horizon for the Taureans. They will want to be surrounded by beauty, music, art, luxuries and pleasures. For the other sign ruled by Venus, Libra, those with that Ascendant or Moon sign, this is their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, so it might not be as smooth a transit as for the Taureans.

Blessings of the planets to you, from the Sunshine Corner in from Sedona, AZ.  Tel. 928-284-4060.  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minute, taped session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com. vedicstarcharts.com

May Planets: Mercury Goes Direct

April 29, 2017

The merry month of May brings some relief on the starry horizon. We’ll be going down from three retrograde planets, to only two of them, for a while longer.

May 3 – MERCURY gets out of retrograde.  Communication and devices dealing with same, should go more smoothly now.  Those with Rising signs and Moon signs ruled by this planet (Virgos and Geminis) will especially enjoy this shift, and feel more progress with this forward movement.

May 14 – The SUN enters earth sign Taurus.  This represents the 10th house of career for the Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, so this will still be a positive transit for them. Since the Sun also represents “government” things can now calm down some after the thirty days of its passage through fire sign Aries.  Ideas from calmer heads may be able to reign now.  It is also a positive transit for those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, bringing friends and supporters closer to them.

May 26 – MARS enters air sign Gemini, bringing in new energy and drive to help achieve their ambitions. Just take heed, Gemini Rising and Moon sign friends, that you don’t let the energy slide to the negative side of the Mars spectrum which is anger, impatience, irritability and restlessness.

Mars 30 – VENUS goes into fire sign Aries, finally leaving its sign of Exaltation Pisces where it had a nice, long stay, due to a period of being retrograde.  This position is actually better for the Libra Rising and Moon sign people, as Venus will now be traveling through their 7th house of partners, business, marriage and travel.  That’s a lot better than the previous sign which is their 6th house of stress, worries and health issues. Enjoy the change, Librans.   Those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, which are also ruled by Venus, will now have a 12th house transit going on. That means the ruler of their charts is crossing the house of loss and expenditure, so they have to watch their spending. Foreign travel could be another possibility, as well as the desire for solitude. They may also feel a bit isolated, on the other hand.

May 31 – MARS goes combust the Sun.  This state of traveling too close to the fiery energy of the Sun makes any planet “angry” and thus not able to give us the full positive side of its qualities.  Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio, thus those born with these Rising or Moon signs will want to take care to get enough rest to be able to reflect on situations calmly, vs. going off in some impulsive reactions.

Here we can see that there are certainly fewer planetary disturbances than last month. Only Saturn and Jupiter remain in retrograde motion, after Mercury goes Direct on May 3rd.  Jupiter remains retrograde until June 9th, so we’ll have more discussion on that influence, next month.

This blog is meant to provide just a taste of possible effects from the transits, the changing conditions of the planets in the Vedic Sky. For a more complete understanding of your own chart, as usual, you are invited to contact me and schedule a full reading.

NOVEMBER STARS: Election Edition by Mary Stevenson

October 31, 2016

Below you will find my regular report on planet movements for this upcoming month, but first a discussion of a presidential candidate’s birth chart, which may be of interest:

Donald Trump – and why his planets show it is doubtful he could ever become president. It is a very interesting study, with some unusual findings. I am not taking a partisan stand here, just explaining what I see in his chart, including a major shift into a new maha dasha for him right at the time of the election.

Finding his birth data easily online, his Vedic birth chart shows a Leo Rising, with Mars in that first house. This explains a lot about his reddish complexion and hair color, in fact.  On the positive end of the scale, Mars can bring the owner of such a chart energy, courage, being very active, having ambition and drive, and initiative to get things done…especially when added to the fact that the Sun, ruler of his chart, is in the 10th house of power, name and fame. But wait, there’s more!  Mars is his BEST (or yogakaraka) planet and does explain his many successes with real estate as well.

On the negative end of the scale, Mars gives anger, rash behavior, irritability and quarrelsomeness. This Mars is also aspecting (looking at/throwing its energy on) his Moon (which stands for mind and emotions) which sits in his 4th house of friends, supporters, mother, and self-confidence.  This Moon is in terrible shape, being in its sign of debilitation and – the biggest issue of all – HE WAS BORN ON THE VERY DAY OF A TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE!!! This casts a lifelong shadow on his thinking and reasoning process.  It makes his feelings hyper-sensitive, as we have seen demonstrated by his reaction to the least slight or insult he may feel.

Mr. Trump’s Sun (ruler of his chart) sits in fixed earth sign of Taurus (ALL of the main considerations of his chart are fixed signs, making him very stubborn), in the 10th house of power with malefic Rahu, the north node of the moon and legendary head of the cosmic serpent. Since this shadow planet is called “the seizer” this explains a LOT of Mr. Trump’s behavior, even his own admissions on that video of how he cannot resist grabbing women.  Rahu surely did grab onto some name and fame, and personal power for him – at least for its 18 year reign. But that is coming to a quick close here.

My Vedic Astrology teacher taught us that at the end of its 18 year personal planetary cycle in an individual’s chart it “takes away all that it has given during that time” – I have seen that befall long time clients of mine, in very tangible terms.  Always at the end of Rahu’s cycle, the antardasha (second level of dasha) is Mars – so his anger issues are greatly activated now.

WHEN DOES IT END?  If his birth time is correct, his Rahu maha dasha (major cycle) would end on November 14th, just days after the election.  But we have already seen a lot of his fame falling away in terms of the many women coming forward to testify about his treatment of them, which they were afraid to bring up until this time. They are correct; when Rahu was in full power, they would have probably found no ears to listen. But now, the waning of the Rahu influence has begun.

Since we are all here to learn and grow, and as souls choose these paths that we have laid out for ourselves, I marvel at how much Mr. Trump’s personality so dislikes “losing” or those he considers to be “losers.” What an irony then, as we most likely will see him “LOSE” something he seems to have really wanted. Or does he?

No tears need be shed for Mr. Trump. He goes next into a Jupiter maha dasha. His Jupiter is placed in the second house of wealth and “communication” – the rumors we hear of him getting his own television network are probably true. He will not stop talking, though that talking may be toned down a lot. Jupiter rules his house of “other people’s money” and sits in his house of wealth, so there will still be no lack of financial success for him.

So there we have it. To sum up: the ego of the Leo rising (out of control since malefic Rahu sits on it and creates chaos in many of his actions); the debilitated and totally eclipsed Moon, causing emotional hyper-sensitivity. Mars in the first house causing the anger issues and aspecting his natal Moon as well, tell the story. By the way, it would be fascinating to have an inside look at his relationship with his mother, which appears quite karmic to me. But that would take too long to go into here.  I do not feel that America would benefit to have anyone born on a total Lunar eclipse, with such emotional instability issues related to that, becoming our Commander in Chief.  We shall see, but I simply do not feel it is likely…as Rahu takes away what it has given him, for the past 18 years.

Now back to our regular programming and a look at the movements of the planets for November:

11/06 – VENUS moves into Sagittarius, bringing those with this Rising or Moon sign more enjoyment, pleasure and a desire for entertainment. There can be a tendency to be over-indulgent for some Sags now. Venus rules Taurus and Libra. It now goes into the 8th house for our Taurus friends, and that can increase a feeling of being vulnerable or just having to go through some uncomfortable changes. For Librans, it’s their 3rd house so that’s fine; they may get more involved in creative, artistic projects now.

11/08 – Mercury enters Scorpio. This can help bring in some income for those with Scorpio Rising or Moon charts, but also some changes as it rules their 8th house, too, in addition to the 11th house of gain and income. For those ruled by Mercury, Virgos and Geminis, it works out like this:  it’s the 3rd house for Virgos, so they will keep busy working away. For Geminis, it represents the 6th house of stress and worry, so not a positive a transit for them.

11/15 – The SUN enters Scorpio for a one month transit. Too bad Saturn is still transiting there as those two are not comfortable hanging out that closely.  Scorpios, just keep working hard and the Sun, ruling your 10th house of career, power, name and fame, can be helpful here to get things done. Just watch out for getting overheated on any level.

11/21 – MERCURY gets out of combustion with the Sun, which it has been in since October 7th.  This brings relief to Virgos, Geminis and to interpersonal communication across the board.

11/23 – SATURN goes combust the Sun.  Your turn, Capricorns and Aquarians, to “feel the burn” as your ruling planet travels too close to this fiery orb.  Keep your usual cool, and try and not and let it get under your skin. This period lasts until December 26th.

11/28 – MERCURY moves into Sagittarius. It joins its friend Venus there to add to the party for the Sags.  For Virgos, it is your 4th house that the ruler of your chart will now be traveling through. That works to connect you to friends and supporters. For Geminis, it is your 7th house of partners, travel and business, so will be an improvement over the previous transit.

Enjoy the planets, from the Sunshine Corner in from Sedona, AZ.  Tel. No.

October Planets: MERCURY Returns to Virgo

October 2, 2016

It’s nice to have some improved planetary news to share this month.

As we know, Mercury got out of retrograde on September 21st. However it has taken all this time to regain the ground it had to back track over during the retrograde period. So, finally:

October 3rd – Mercury re-enters Virgo, where it is very happy as this is its own sign, even gaining Exalted status at certain degrees of this Earth sign. Since Mercury governs communications, commerce and trade, and communications equipment, this will be a valuable improvement for all of the above. In addition, those ruled by Mercury can take heart as they will be feeling much better now: Virgos and Geminis.

October 7th – Mercury will be traveling too close to the Sun once more, thus some of its fine qualities such as logic, tactfulness and diplomacy will feel “combust the Sun.” This period lasts until November 21st.

October 11th -JUPITER gets out of combustion with the Sun. That is some more good news!  The combustion period for this great benefic began on September 11th and caused some waves in our daily lives, especially when it was at the exact degree of the Sun around September 25th. There were several rough days there with Jupiter’s significations made toast by this proximity to the Sun, including happiness, good judgment, intuition, good fortune. Those ruled by Jupiter should take delight in this change now: Sagittarius and Pisces Rising and Moon signs.

October 13th – VENUS enters Scorpio.  It was happy in the previous sign Libra (which it owns), but this will also be a good placement for those ruled by this benefic: Libra and Taurus Rising and Moon signs.  Scorpios benefit too, and will feel more affectionate and romantic now. They just will have to watch their spending.

October 16 – the SUN enters Libra. In this air sign it is debilitated, or in its weakest sign, thus Leos may feel less energy for a thirty day period now (they are ruled by the Sun).  It does not bring harm to Librans, as the Sun rules their house of gain and income, thus their cash flow should be good, but it’s a wise idea for them to watch their tempers now, which is normally not an issue. The Sun can make them feel “overheated.”

October 21 – MERCURY in Libra.  Now Mercury joins the Sun in Libra and that is a mixed blessing for the Librans (some gain/some loss), due to the houses it rules for them.  It is a nice position for the Virgos (their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication) and the Geminis (their 5th house of success, education, and children).

October 31st – MARS enters Capricorn, its sign of exaltation on this Halloween day.  What kind of tricks or treats will it bring there?  It’s nice for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon signs as long as they don’t let their ambition and drive now overpower them with any impatience or quarrelsomeness.  Mars can give rise to accidents, and it will be plenty strong at this time, so depending on which house it rules in your own birth chart, my suggestion is to watch for speeding now and don’t run over any trick-or-treaters! September Skies: Vedic Astrology Blog by Mary Stevenson

September 4, 2016

There’s much to report in the realm of planet interactions this month.

9/01/16 – The Sun was eclipsed by malefic north node of the Moon, Rahu, in its own sign of LEO.  However, this eclipse was barely visible anywhere, and not at all in the USA so other than those with Leo Rising or Moons signs, who may have felt some energetic shifts, I do not feel this was a very significant event, for most.

9/06/16 – MERCURY (which is already retrograde) goes combust the Sun.  This condition lasts until 9/16. It does not make Mercury a happy camper, thus misunderstandings and verbal disagreements may ensue, with Mercury not able to provide his usual tactfulness and diplomacy.

MERCURY RETROGRADE began last month and will go until 9/21.  At first, it won’t be too much of a problem, since this planet that deals with communication has been crossing Virgo, its own sign, where it is strong and happy. BUT!  It will back up into LEO, the previous sign on 9/09/16.  There it will be sitting with the Sun (briefly, until it moves) and malefic RAHU.  Things will get more dicey for those ruled by Mercury, Geminis and Virgos.  Especially the Virgos may experience more challenging results at this time, with the ruler of their charts crossing their 12th house of loss, expenses, seclusion or isolation.  Add to this Rahu playing a wild card thrown into this transit.  This condition lasts until 10/03/16, when Mercury will return to Virgo, and peace and order will be restored for you.

9/11/16 – Benefic JUPITER goes combust the Sun.  This condition lasts until 10/10/16 affecting those ruled by Jupiter, Pisces and Sagittarius.  You have a normally happy, upbeat nature, but could feel some inner “pinch” at this time. Take care of yourself and know that “this too shall pass.”

9/16/16 – the Sun enters Virgo. Here it escapes its one month transit with malefic Rahu.  That will come as a relief.  Jupiter and Venus will still be in Virgo at this time.  Those with Virgo Rising and Moon signs may have to watch their tendency to spend now, caused by the Sun, their 12th ruler, crossing the 1st house of self.

9/16/16 – Meanwhile, that same day, there will be a Penumbral Lunar eclipse (partial).  We are fortunate that it will not be visible in the USA. Regions which will be seeing at least some parts of the eclipse: Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, West in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica. Eclipses are not auspicious in the tradition of  Vedic Astrology, thus those in the areas where the light of this eclipsed luminary is visible, will experience the greatest effects.

9/17/16 – MARS ENTERS SAGITTARIUS!  Finally this long ordeal that has been going on since 7/12/16, with Mars transiting Scorpio in conjunction with Saturn, will be over. Both planets will breath their respective signs of relief.  This has not been an easy transit especially, for those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, since Scorpio represents their 8th house of vulnerability, battles and disunion, transformation, life and death.  It will be such a blessing for the ruler of your sign to now enter your 9th “best” house in your chart and bring you support of Nature, good luck and good fortune.

9/18/16 – VENUS enters Libra its own sign. This great benefic will be very happy here and benefit those with Libra Rising or Moon signs greatly.  The other sign ruled by Venus is Taurus. They will not have as easy a run of it, since Libra represents their 6th house of stress, worry, enemies, rivals and competitors, plus possible health problems. This transit lasts until 10/13/16.

There is no doubt that next month will be an easier ride for most of us, once Mars finally moves away from Saturn on 9/17; Mercury gets out of retrograde on 9/21 and we get further past the two eclipses of September.
