The merry month of May brings some relief on the starry horizon. We’ll be going down from three retrograde planets, to only two of them, for a while longer.
May 3 – MERCURY gets out of retrograde. Communication and devices dealing with same, should go more smoothly now. Those with Rising signs and Moon signs ruled by this planet (Virgos and Geminis) will especially enjoy this shift, and feel more progress with this forward movement.
May 14 – The SUN enters earth sign Taurus. This represents the 10th house of career for the Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, so this will still be a positive transit for them. Since the Sun also represents “government” things can now calm down some after the thirty days of its passage through fire sign Aries. Ideas from calmer heads may be able to reign now. It is also a positive transit for those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, bringing friends and supporters closer to them.
May 26 – MARS enters air sign Gemini, bringing in new energy and drive to help achieve their ambitions. Just take heed, Gemini Rising and Moon sign friends, that you don’t let the energy slide to the negative side of the Mars spectrum which is anger, impatience, irritability and restlessness.
Mars 30 – VENUS goes into fire sign Aries, finally leaving its sign of Exaltation Pisces where it had a nice, long stay, due to a period of being retrograde. This position is actually better for the Libra Rising and Moon sign people, as Venus will now be traveling through their 7th house of partners, business, marriage and travel. That’s a lot better than the previous sign which is their 6th house of stress, worries and health issues. Enjoy the change, Librans. Those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, which are also ruled by Venus, will now have a 12th house transit going on. That means the ruler of their charts is crossing the house of loss and expenditure, so they have to watch their spending. Foreign travel could be another possibility, as well as the desire for solitude. They may also feel a bit isolated, on the other hand.
May 31 – MARS goes combust the Sun. This state of traveling too close to the fiery energy of the Sun makes any planet “angry” and thus not able to give us the full positive side of its qualities. Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio, thus those born with these Rising or Moon signs will want to take care to get enough rest to be able to reflect on situations calmly, vs. going off in some impulsive reactions.
Here we can see that there are certainly fewer planetary disturbances than last month. Only Saturn and Jupiter remain in retrograde motion, after Mercury goes Direct on May 3rd. Jupiter remains retrograde until June 9th, so we’ll have more discussion on that influence, next month.

February Planet Report….
Are you Scorpios enjoying the relief of Saturn’s recent movement OFF of your Rising Sign, Moon sign or Sun sign? That occurred on January 26th. Already some of my friends, especially the Scorpio Moon groups, have shared with me their feelings of relief from Saturn’s grinding pressure.
2/03/17 – Mercury moves into Capricorn, a friend’s sign. It will join the Sun there. This placement is fine for the Virgos, ruled by Mercury, but not so good for the other signed ruled by Mercury, Gemini. This 8th house for them represents Transformation, battles and disunion, vulnerability, life and death. So it’s never exactly comfortable when it’s making this transit each year. Mercury will move on 2/22/17 into Aquarius, bringing some relief.
2/05/17 – The great benefic Jupiter goes Retrograde! This lasts until 6/09/17. Jupiter is currently in Virgo, which should bring to this earth sign both friends and partners, so that is a nice placement for them. The two signs ruled by Jupiter are Sagitarius and Pisces. The placement for both of them is okay. When a benefic planet goes retrograde, it is generally thought to enhance its benefic energies. (The opposite is true for a malefic planet).
2/10-11/17 – Depending on where you live, this partial (penumbral) lunar eclipse will occur over one of these dates. The range of visibility will be in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia. Please remember that eclipses are never auspicious but just the opposite and their effect is felt most greatly in the areas in which they are visible. It looks to me that it will be at full effect here in Sedona, AZ on Feb. 11th around 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. This eclipse occurs in the sign of Leo.
2/12/17 – The Sun moves into Aquarius for a month. Though still in an enemy’s sign (as both Capricorn and Aquarius are ruled by Saturn), this will be a much better placement for the LEOS, who are ruled by the Sun. It is going away from their 6th house of rivals, enemies and competitors into their 7th house of business and partnerships, also travel.
2/16/17 – Mercury goes combust the Sun (traveling too close for comfort). This condition will last until 3/21/17. Those most affected are Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon signs, but everyone will have to watch for being less than tactful. Try and keep communications positive and thoughtful now.
2/22/17 – Mercury enters Aquarius. This is helpful to Geminis as it is their 9th (best) house, but not so helpful for Virgos. This is their 6th house of worry, health problems, enemies, rivals and competitors. Plus it will be traveling with tricky Ketu, so watch your back, literally and figuratively.
2/26/17 – Annular Solar Eclipse. This partial eclipse will not be seen in the USA. It occurs in the sign of Aquarius. Those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs may feel especially intuitive at this time, but it’s not a good moment to make big decisions or take actions. It will be visible in S. America, Atlantic, Africa, Antarctica.

April 1, 2016
April 2 – Mercury enters Aries. This helps create a certain wittiness and desire to be verbally playful. It is a good house (11th = gain and income) for the Geminis, but not as good for the other sign ruled by Mercury, Virgo. This represents their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability. We must also remember that Mercury has been combust the Sun since March 7th, creating a certain level of irritability or impatience, especially for those ruled by this planet. It will get out of combustion on April 6th.
April 13 – the SUN enters fire sign ARIES, where it is in exalted status. This brings a lot of personal power to those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, and also makes them want to be the center of attention now. It is also beneficial to Leos, which sign the Sun rules, as it now will be crossing the Leo’s 9th house of good luck, good fortune, destiny and Natural Law for one month.
April 17 – MARS GOES RETROGRADE. Mars has been crossing its own sign of Scorpio, where it would normally be pretty happy. The only thing is, Saturn got there first and will continue on here for some time. These two being “great enemies” does not make it comfortable for either, having them both under the same roof, so to speak. Plus, now they are BOTH going to be Retrograde, or “the appearance of moving backwards.” Expect logjams in your projects and internal conflict and tension, Scorpios. This is also not great for those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, as Mars rules this fire sign, too, and will be retrograde (with retrograde Saturn) in their 8th house of vulnerability.
April 24 – VENUS moves out of its Exaltation sign, Pisces, and into fire sign Aries now, where it joins the Sun and Mercury. This will add to the fun times for the Aries Rising and Moon sign chart owners. Libras will be thinking of love and partnership, with the ruler of their charts now in their 7th house. However, the Taurus Ascendants and Moon sign people, will experience the ruler of their charts crossing their 12th house of loss and expenses, so too much money may be going out, and they may also feel like isolating a bit more.
April 28 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! This condition will last until May 22, bringing the usual snags or misunderstandings in communication. Since Mercury governs the latter, plus tactfulness and diplomacy, it may take more effort than usual to maintain civil conversations
April 30 – Both Venus and Mercury go combust the Sun. That means they are traveling too close to the fiery orb for comfort and may feel that their “wings are being singed” a bit. This condition for Mercury lasts until May 17, and for Venus, until July 13.
A PREVIEW OF CONDITIONS IN MAY: You now see that by the end of April we will have FOUR of the nine planets in retrograde condition: Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Mercury. In addition, both Mercury and Venus are combust the Sun. This is bound to be an intense time, and whatever we have been most trying to avoid dealing with, such as unfinished business of the past, will inevitably bubble up now and must be resolved. In addition, I have concerns as to what all this intense energy will mean for both our national political scene and conditions around the world. Stay tuned.

Anyone have the Total Solar Eclipse Blues Yet?
For all who think solar eclipses are “cool,” er, not so much, in terms of the effects known to the ancient science of Vedic Astrology. The advice of the wise is to avoid looking at, or being out in the eclipsed light of, this Luminary of our solar system. It is also not advised to eat from a couple of hours before, until a couple of hours after, an eclipse. All of the above advice applies even more so, to pregnant women.
This eclipse will be totally visible in Sulawesi, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Borneo, and the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It will also be partially visible in northern and eastern Australia, in South Asia, and in East Asia. The areas in which an eclipse is seen will feel the astrological effects the most, per the classic texts.
This eclipse is occurring in the fixed air sign of Aquarius. There will be a five-planet pile up going on in this sign at the time. The Sun and Moon will be at the same exact degree here in Sedona (MST) at 6:00 p.m. local time on March 8th.
Who feels it the most? LEOS (those with this Rising and Moon sign) are ruled by the SUN. When the light is temporarily “extinguished” they will experience something out of the ordinary, even if it is just some feeling of displacement, being out of sorts or not quite themselves. Leos are born leaders and take pride in being noticed for their accomplishment. To suddenly feel “not seen” is not comfortable or fun for them. So hang in there, Leos! They have already been going through the yo-yo factor with the malefic north node of the moon, RAHU, crossing Leo since January 8 of this year. Having benefic Jupiter also crossing their sign, has been the saving grace here.
Those with Aquarius Ascendants or Moon signs will feel the intensity as well. The south node of the moon, KETU, is the culprit trying to swallow the Sun on this day. It is joined in this sign by Venus, Mercury, and of course the Sun and Moon. There could be issues with some relationships and certain feelings of vulnerability on this occasion, but I still think it will affect the Leos even more. About the only thing an eclipse day is good for, is having a Yagya, which is an ancient type of remedy in Vedic Astrology; a ritual in which skilled priests take on the job of mitigating the karma which one’s birth chart may show in various aspects of life. I do have a wonderful source for yagyas, done in India on the banks of the Ganges, if anyone is interested in that service.
March 1 – Mercury moved into Aquarius on this date. This is the 9th house for Geminis, thus a good place to begin feeling more luck and support of nature for those with this Rising or Moon sign. However, for the other sign ruled by Mercury, VIRGO, this represents their 6th house so not as comfortable. The 6th house represents health problems, worry, anxiety, stress, enemies, rivals and competitors. The only Virgos who may benefit would be lawyers and doctors or health professionals, who may attract more clients at this time.
March 7 – Mercury goes combust the Sun. This is a time when the nimble Mercury travels too close to the Sun and “feels the burn,” and not in a good way. Thus qualities of tactfulness and diplomacy may suffer. Watch your tempers, Virgos and Geminis!
March 7 – Venus enters Aquarius, a friend’s sign. Venus rules good houses for those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs, thus providing some comforts or even “luxuries.” This normally very cerebral sign may even be feeling a little sensuous now. For both Libras and Taureans, the signs ruled by Venus, this position represents very good houses for them both.
March 8 – Total Solar Eclipse in Aquarius. See discussion above. I should add that many Jyotishis (Jyotish is the Sanskrit word for Vedic Astrology) feel that the effects of an eclipse last from two weeks before until two weeks after, they occur. Some even feel the effects last for one month on either side of an eclipse. That is why many have been feeling unsettled for some time now.
March 13 – Sun moves into Pisces….and not a moment too soon. It will feel more comfortable now, getting away from mean old Ketu, and out of an enemy’s sign (Aquarius) into a friend’s sign now. However for LEOS, this represents their 8th house of transformation, vulnerability, battles and disunion, as well as knowledge of past and future. I urge Leos to listen to their intuition and be vigilant of their boundaries during this 30-day period. The Sun represents for Pisces Rising and Moon sign folks, the ruler of their 6th house, thus bringing some discomfort, worry or anxiety and perhaps the tendency to get “overheated” one way or another.
March 18 – Mercury moves into Pisces. This is a more helpful position for the Virgos, as it represents their 7th house of partners and travel. Being able to connect with others now, becomes smoother and more comfortable. It’s also a good house for Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, representing their 10th house of career, action, name and fame.
March 23 – PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE. Usually there are at least two eclipses per year of both Sun and Moon, and they do often occur within the same month, often within two weeks of each other. This penumbral lunar eclipse will be visible from most parts of Asia, Australia, North America and South America. There are some very good sites online which you can google and see the full path of this eclipse. It will occur in the earth sign Virgo. At least it is just a partial darkening of the Moon’s light…but let’s keep in mind that the Moon represents mind and emotions in the Vedic system, and thus the normally logical Virgos could be slightly thrown off their usual game on this day.
March 25 – SATURN GOES RETROGRADE. This period of the appearance of “going backwards” begins at 2:57 a.m. MST. It does not move into direct motion again until August 13th. There is already the uncomfortable situation that Saturn has been in Scorpio for some time, thus in an enemy’s sign. Mars is also transiting through Scorpio now, too, and these great enemies being in the same sign together create much friction which spills over into the world scene, adding to the chaos of current times. The two signs ruled by Saturn are Capricorn and Aquarius. While this represents good houses for both of them, the retrograde period will bring some delays and obstacles. It may also bring the unavoidable need to finally resolve some issues they have been putting off, or thought were already settled. Patience will be needed.
March 31 – VENUS moves into water sign Pisces. Here the great benefic experiences its sign of exaltation. Those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs should feel rather playful and attractive now, if not downright self-indulgent. Venus rules Taurus and Libra. For those with Taurus Ascendants or Moon signs, this is a very nice transit, through their house of gain, income and fulfillment of desires. For the Libras, Pisces represents their 6th house, so efforts will be needed to relax, try and avoid extra stress and worry now, and focus more on taking care of themselves.

HAPPY NEW YEAR GREETINGS TO ALL!
Let’s see what the Vedic stars hold in store for us in this new year. As always, you can contact me at 928-284-4060 if you would like to set up a personal reading to see what secrets your own chart reveals for the year ahead.
January begins with a fairly peaceful line up of planets. Mercury is in Capricorn (a friend’s sign); Jupiter is in Leo (a friend’s sign); Mars is in Libra, and it was a big improvement when it moved there on December 15, getting out of that conjunction with Rahu in Virgo. Yes, Virgos still have to contend with Rahu (north node of the Moon, and a tricky malefic) but only until January 8th! Likewise, Pisces has the other half of this “cosmic serpent” crossing this compassionate water sign until that same date. More on this big move, below. Venus joined its friend Saturn in Scorpio on December 25, bringing some ease to the Scorpios who have been weighed down by hard work taskmaster Saturn for some time. This is an easier line up than we’ve had for a while, for most signs. However….here come the changes, for these planets are always moving!
1/05/2016 MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE. We all get affected by this condition of the planet that governs communication, diplomacy, tactfulness and commerce, but those with Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs always feel it the most. Mercury will go Direct motion again on 1/25/2016.
Be cautious about the usual snags in communication, misunderstandings and the like now, and the frustrations they cause.
Thus during this time things may appear to be “going backwards” in your life, or feelings of being misunderstood or miscommunications may occur. ANYTHING that deals with communication may be affected, from my experience.
From some error on your bank statement, to telecommunications equipment, faxes, computers not working right, one must be prepared for glitches. Be very vigilant if you plan to prepare your income tax returns during this time. “Avert the danger before it arises” can be an apt phrase here for laying low through this time of frustration. It’s not YOUR fault, and in many cases there’s not much you can do about it, so determine to ride the storm out, resorting to your clever sense of humor to make it through those big waves.
1/06/2016 – Speaking of retrogrades! Tonight the great benefic planet Jupiter goes retrograde motion. This “appearance of going backwards” as seen from our vantage point on Earth, actually means that Jupiter’s influence gets stronger. That is what happens with the benefic planets. Their benefic qualities actually get stronger in such a period. The two signs ruled by Jupiter, though, will feel different results. Sagittarius Rising and Moon sign people get the best of the deal, since Jupiter is crossing their 9th (best) house of good luck, good fortune, remedies, pilgrimage, dharma, natural law, higher education, religion and philosophy. As with all retrograde periods, they get an opportunity to revisit some previous issue, not totally resolved in the past. The planets make sure that we cannot run and hide from working out situations that our soul wishes to learn and grow from. Pisces Ascendant and Moon sign people have the lord of their chart crossing the 6th house. That house deals with health problems, mental stress, anxiety, delays, enemies, rivals and competitors. Some of the opportunities for growth that life presents to these compassionate individuals is to transcend the need to be a “rescuer” and not let people lean on them and constantly drain them. That ends up helping no one, in the end. Thus Pisceans can sometimes end up being “their own worst enemy” especially with a transit like this. This retrograde period for Jupiter lasts until May 9th.
1/08/2016 Mercury goes Combust the Sun. It remains in this condition until 1/19/16.
By now, you may know how this goes: watch your temper and tendency for impatience or irritability, which may get imbalanced now. This cycle in which a planet travels too close to the Sun makes it feel grouchy, angry, more reactive than normal. Combustion occurs more frequently for Mercury than any other planet, because it habitually travels closer to the Sun. Nonetheless, you may feel the effects of just being more sensitive or reactive to things you normally would let pass. Employ meditation practice to maintain your equilibrium and peace of mind during these cycles. Mercury rules the skin and nerves, so being combust the Sun may cause imbalances in either of these areas now.
1/08/2016 – RAHU AND KETU CHANGE SIGNS ONLY EVERY 18 MONTHS. This is the day that Rahu moves backwards (the only direction the Nodes ever move) into Leo and Ketu moves backwards into Aquarius.
This brings big relief to the Virgo and Pisces Ascendants and Moon Sign people in the Sidereal Zodiac upon which Vedic Astrology is based. Congratulations. You survived the last year and a half of some ups and downs, tricky, unexpected events, even chaos, or in the case of the Pisceans, hindrance, embarrassment or just not feeling “seen.” All that gets alleviated for you now.
For LEOS, since you already have benefic Jupiter crossing your sign, this should not be so bad. Because the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, are “upagrahas” i.e. “planets with no body,” they absorb the energies of any planets with which they may be conjunct during a transit. In other words, Rahu will be soaking up some of the benefic qualities of Jupiter! Nice. Leo Rising and Moon sign people will thus feel more passion and intuition, a greater need for excitement and transformation, but that can be a good thing. Keep in mind, please, that Jupiter does move out of Leo and into Virgo on 8/11/16. Then you will have to deal with Rahu alone in your sign.
Aquarians must utilize the energy of Ketu now for going within, doing work behind the scenes, and having a more spiritual focus for the next 18 months. That should be right up your alley. There may be sudden “aha” moments, epiphanies of cosmic insights, if you cultivate an openness to receiving that type of guidance.
1/14/2016 The SUN moves into Capricorn for its one month voyage in this movable Earth sign. The Sun typically is not so happy in this sign ruled by its enemy, Saturn. It cannot feel as expansive as its nature would like here. Leo Rising and Moon sign people will find this time of year somewhat of a challenge as the ruler of their charts crosses their 6th house of delays, enemies, rivals, competitors, stress and health issues. So take care of yourself and have patience, as “this, too, shall change.”
1/14/2016 MERCURY backs up into Sagittarius, during its retrograde motion. You may get the opportunity to finish something important that you started in that earlier transit, but didn’t get to finish at that time, or get to the root of a problem that you had to put off dealing with before. This represents “good houses” for both signs ruled by Mercury. For Virgos, it is the 4th house and for Geminis, it is the 7th, so that should help some, even though you are still dealing with the retrograde status of the lord of your charts.
1/18/2016 Benefic VENUS joins its friend Mercury in the fire sign Sagittarius. The “Sags” get to feel all happy, playful and attractive for this period. Communication and social events will be the hallmark of this transit for you.

August 13, 2015
August 1, 2015 – SATURN went into direction motion as of this date. It had been Retrograde since March 14th.
This will bring a sense of progress at last for those with Capricorn and Aquarius rising signs and moon signs, which signs are ruled by Saturn. It hasn’t been exactly comfortable for the Scorpios, who have felt the weight of Saturn’s transit since November 2, 2014. Saturn stays in a sign for approximately 2.5 years. Hang in there, Scorpios!
August 4 – Mercury entered Leo, a fire sign. Communication can be used in a powerful, even fiery way during this transit. It brings creative endeavors to the Gemini Risings, but not as good for the other sign ruled by Mercury, which is Virgo, as this transit represents their 12th house of loss, expense and isolation.
August 6 – Mercury gets out of combustion, which is helpful for less irritable communication and more tactfulness. This shift especially helps the Gemini and Virgo Ascendents and Moon sign people.
August 10 – VENUS went into combustion. This is a period when benefic Venus travels too close to the Sun for comfort. This can bring some feistiness to those ruled by Venus, those with Taurus and Libra rising and moon signs. Try to keep your cool, this hot final month of summer. It gets out of combustion on August 20, which will be a relief for you. This is especially so since you have felt the pressure of Venus being in retrograde motion since July 25, and it does not go Direct until Sept 6th.
August 11 – MARS gets out of combustion now. What a nice break for the Aries and Scorpio Rising and Moon sign people, since Mars rules their charts. Mars-ruled folks may have been feeling some extra restlessness, irritability or more quarrelsomeness than normal during this rather lengthy time period, since April 10 when it went into combustion.
August 13 – VENUS moves into movable water sign Cancer. Venus stands for luxuries, comforts, pleasures, and partners. It should be a very good time for the Cancer Ascendants and Moon sign folks, as these qualities or experiences are brought to your experience now, in one way or another.
August 16 – the SUN moves into fire sign LEO, where it is at home in its own sign. Leos will feel better after the one month of having the lord of their charts crossing the previous sign Cancer, which is their 12th house of loss and expenses. NOW Leos can feel in their full power again. Just watch out for getting overheated at this time.
August 20 – Relief for Taureans and Librans as VENUS now gets out of its combust (to close to) the Sun status.
August 22 – MERCURY moves into its own sign of VIRGO. This is wonderful news for Virgos and Geminis! It will be a boon for communication and diplomacy in general across the board. Enjoy some smooth sailing, now Mercury people.

Ready for the Full Moon in Sagittarius?
As I write, the Moon is nearly totally full in this dual fire sign, appearing opposite the Sun (and Mars) in Gemini. It was so lovely last night as I stepped outside to see the magical clouds of the Arizona sky forming a silvery platform beneath this shining luminary.
Those with Sagittarius Ascendents or natal Moon signs in the Vedic Astrology system may be feeling a bit tender or even moody with the Moon crossing this sign now, for it does rule their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, enlivening some of those feelings in their experience for this 2.5 day sojourn of the Moon here.
The Moon rules the water sign of Cancer. As it travels through the 6th house from Cancer now, those with this Rising or Moon sign may feel pressured with so many details to take care of, accompanied by a plateful of worry and tension. Funnily enough, this extra pressure can help us rise to the occasion and act in a more organized way to get a lot done, than when we do not have that pressure! I should know…
We cannot ignore the ongoing “Graha Yuddha” or planetary war that has been occurring for several days in the sign of CANCER. The two great benefics Jupiter and Venus are aligning in the sky, at the very same degree. They need to get one full degree apart before the battle is over. This will occur early in the morning of July 3rd. In the meanwhile, to best understand this…think of two vehicles trying to occupy the same space at the same time. We know what that results in! Astrologically, while these two plants are not physically colliding, the energetic significance of this occurrence does matter. Venus left out of balance can give rise to “self indulgence” – not that we Cancerians would ever give in to such urges, right? What are YOU laughing about, you Taureans and Librans? Those of you ruled by Venus could also be feeling some urges or impulses that you’d be better off avoiding right now. Venus does “win” this particular battle. I cannot help but wonder how my Pisces and Sagittarius friends have been feeling these past few days, as Jupiter rules their charts.
July 4th – Happy Independence Day! Geminis will have plenty to celebrate as Mercury moves into your sign this very day. Having the ruler of your chart in its own sign, and your first house of self, body and personality will help you feel bright, clear, perky, friendly and communicative. I mean even more than normal (LOL).
July 4th – VENUS moves into Leo. Okay, now the party moves to this fixed fire sign and the Cancer Rising and Moon sign folks will just have to deal with it (i.e. Venus leaving their sign). Not too shabby though, having this benefic now crossing their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication. Leos benefit from feeling even more beautiful (“I’m a star, baby”) and affectionate than usual.
July 11th – Mercury goes “combust the Sun” i.e. traveling too close to the fire for comfort, so everyone may feel a little less tactful and diplomatic in their communications now…especially the Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon sign folks.
JULY 13 – Here’s a big change! Jupiter only changes signs every 12.5 to 13 months. Today it leaves its exaltation sign of Cancer and enters Leo, joining benefic Venus there. This is a friend’s sign for Jupiter so it will still be pretty happy, though no longer exalted. Like I said, the party moves to LEO this month.
July 16 – Sun enters Cancer. This is a beneficial transit for the Cancerians, as the Sun rules their house of wealth, family and communication thus shining a light of positive connection to these areas now. For the Leos, which sign the Sun rules, this represents their 12th house of loss and expenditure, as well as foreign travel. It is a house of isolation and/or seclusion, so they may feel more inward at this time.
July 20 – Mercury enters Cancer. This placement represents good houses for both Virgos and Geminis, the signs that Mercury rules, so it should bring some positive results, ranging from increased income to greater connection with some family members.
July 25 – VENUS goes retrograde. Here’s a chance to rethink certain possibilities and options you have been playing with, those with Libra or Taurus Rising or Moon signs. Remember that sometimes what looks like “obstacles and delays” can just be the chance to take a deep breath and look before you leap! It does not go into direct motion again until September 6th so it may feel like a “long, hot summer” to you. Thus attitude and understanding means everything during this period when so many situations may feel beyond your ability to control.
July 30 – Mars enters Cancer, it’s sign of debilitation, where it typically “feels weakest.” However, the irony for the Cancerians of the Zodiac is that Mars is their Yogakaraka, or best planet, thus it can still bring in a wave of good events into their life, anyway. The main issues they will have to avoid now is having a short fuse, or being cranky or irritable (in Ayurvedic medicine this relates to the element of Pitta being out of balance). Mars is a planet of energy and fire, so can stir up some ambition, too, and more initiative to reach goals and get things done.

May 31, 2015
Greetings from Sedona, Arizona, where our temps are starting to warm up.
How’s the double whammy of Mercury being retrograde (since 5/18) AND combust the Sun (since 5/21) been working out for everyone? I’ve heard no end of technology and computer snafu stories lately…and been through a few myself! May I share a personal story to illustrate the type of GOOD things that can come from a retrograde period? About a week ago I noticed that a pool of water was forming out in my back patio, under the hammock, bubbling up between the square brick tiles. You can imagine that I feared the worst, in terms of some major broken pipe, etc. Long story short, we have a NEW condo grounds-keeping service. I got them (nicer than the previous people) to come in, pull up those tiles and see what was going on with the irrigation pipes. It’s such a GOOD thing that they did this! They discovered that the main condo irrigation water tubes were not even connected to the little ones that are supposed to be watering all of my plants out there; it was clear that they had NEVER been connected. WOW. So if this “seeming disaster” of the pooling water had not come up, I would have never discovered this problem. My plants were just getting no water at all for the past year, except for when I hand-watered, and of course our Summer monsoon season. They fixed it and it didn’t cost me a dime, which was a huge relief. So keep your eyes open for something that needs to be fixed from a past situation that was never done the right way in the first place. This could be a golden opportunity for a fix-it job, including in your interpersonal communication.
CANCER Rising or Moon sign folks should be feeling all warm and fuzzy now that benefic VENUS moved into their sign (as of 5/30), joining the other great benefic JUPITER which has been in Cancer since 6/18/14 and will remain there until 7/13/15. Jupiter is in exalted dignity in this water sign, so cancerians should be starting the Summer season in a party mood.
6/07/15 – MERCURY becomes no longer combust the Sun, bringing much relief to those ruled by this planet, i.e. those with Virgo or Gemini Ascendants or Moon signs. Your tempers will no longer be on such a quick trigger timer. (Although for the Virgos, you will still have malefic north node of the Moon in your sign for some time to come, which can make you more moody and unpredictable than you normally are).
6/11/15 – More good news for the Mercury folks! And for all the rest of us in terms of our communications and communication equipment. MERCURY finally gets out of retrograde motion and goes direct. There will be a greater feeling of progress for you now.
6/15/15 – The SUN moves into dual air sign Gemini. Later that same day….fiery MARS moves there as well! This means that for a few days, Mars will be completely combust the Sun, causing some havoc for those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs, as well as the people ruled by Mars, Scorpio and Aries Rising and Moon signs. Easy does it, if you can remember this sage advice. Patience will be in short supply for all of the above, so gangway if you are living with a Gemini, Aries or Scorpio! This placement in Scorpio’s 8th house makes it even more challenging for those with this fixed water sign Rising or Moon sign. The 8th house deals with vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion, life and death. Mars rules their charts, plus Mars himself represents accidents. Slow and steady wins the race, Scorpio. Please remember this advice when we get to this point in time.
Amazingly, those are all of the significant planet changes to report on for June. Since the Moon changes every 2.5 days, that would be too much to report on in my monthly blog.

Please visit my website for more info – and thank you for helping me spread the word about this labor of love which I’ve been working on since August, 2014. http://www.marystevensonauthor.com
5/02/15 – VENUS moved into the dual air sign of Gemini, where it will remain until 5/30/15. This represents positive experiences for those ruled by Venus, i.e. those with Rising or Moon signs of Taurus and Libra, because where Venus now sits represents good houses for each of them. That is the 9th house for Libras (good luck, good fortune) and the 2nd house for Taureans (wealth, family, communication).
This shift for Venus also represents a mutual exchange of signs with its friend Mercury who now sits next door to Gemini in Taurus, which is a sign owned by Venus. Those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs should feel especially expressive and creative now, close to family members and rolling in the dough!
5/03/15 – MARS moves into earth sign Taurus. This is helpful for both Scorpios and Aries folks, the two signs that Mars rules. It can bring travel or closeness to partners (even to business partners) into play for the Scorpios, while Aries gets a break from the “heat” of impatience and intensity that it’s had with the Sun crossing through its own sign of Aries for some time. Mars in the 2nd house for the Aries Rising and Moon sign people, connects them to family, wealth and speech.
5/14/15 – the SUN will move into Taurus for 30 days, as it does every year at this time. Again, this is a break for the Aries folks, getting this fiery orb to move on from their sign. The “power” that the Sun represents now goes to those with Taurus Rising or Moon charts. Having both Mars and the Sun in Taurus (and Mercury there as well), makes it an excellent time for real estate deals for Taureans. Of course, you will have to bear with the negative end of the spectrum of qualities that these two hot planets can bring: impatience, anger, restlessness, being prone towards some temper or argumentativeness. Let’s remember to keep the qualities of tactfulness and diplomacy active in the mix, which Mercury can bring to you now.
5/18/15 – Speaking of MERCURY! Oh yes, here we go again, with another MERCURY RETROGRADE period in store now, lasting until 6/11/15. Yes, this influence can always bring “the appearance of things moving backwards” especially in terms of communications or even communications equipment problems, yet it can also give the opportunity to “revisit” something you started before but have not yet finished. It is not the best time to be signing contracts or starting new endeavors.
5/21/15 – MERCURY COMBUST the Sun. In this period of traveling too close to the Sun for comfort, people can lose their normal level of tactfulness, friendliness or diplomacy, all qualities that Mercury rules. This influence will last until 6/07/15, so whereas everyone is affected, those most affected are the Gemini and Virgo Rising and Moon sign chart owners, since Mercury rules their signs. Paying attention to the times each year that the ruler of your charts is in such a condition, can bring more mindfulness to any given situation, to overcome these “hot-headed” effects.
5/30/15 – VENUS now brings her benefic qualities to the water sign Cancer, making those with this Rising or Moon sign feel affectionate, attractive, loving and desirous of luxuries and comforts, or items of beauty. It’s a great time to melt your Cancerian friend’s heart with a flower or some item of beauty, or take them to a music concert.

April 15, 2015
First of all, I’d like to share an example of how the planets’ influence can work in our lives, even in small and practical ways. As you know, I try and get my blog written and sent out the very first of each month. Well….here it is mid-April, and I’m just getting a chance to get to it! For various reasons including travel, my time has just been totally absorbed with other things. I’d think about my blog and want very much to get to it, but there were always “hindrances.” Considering that the Sun rules my 2nd house of communication, and that its been transiting with malefic Ketu – which stands for hindrance and degradation! – from mid-March until just yesterday, now we see the explanation for this delay. Finally, with Sun now in Aries, I can write. So that’s my planet story and I’m sticking to it. LOL.
4/04/15 – much ado was made about the “Blood Moon” lunar eclipse on this date. It was visible in North America so those of us living here would be affected by it. Some Jyotish pandits feel the effects last from 2 weeks before, until 2 weeks after, an eclipse. Some extend that period to be a month before, up to a month after. This eclipse occurred in the practical earth sign of Virgo, so those with Virgo Ascendants or Moon signs would have felt it the most. Rahu, the malefic north node of the moon which caused this eclipse, has been crossing Virgo since 7/13/14 anyway, causing a range of upheavals, transformation and unexpected events. We have to remember that eclipses are not auspicious events, in the Vedic Astrology system.
4/06/15 – Venus entered its own sign of Taurus, where it is strong and happy. Those with Taurus Ascendants or Moon signs should be feeling especially good now, and yearning to be surrounded by affection, beauty, luxury and comforts. Librans are also ruled by Venus, but having the ruler of their chart now crossing their 8th house is not as good, because it can increase the feelings of vulnerability and bring too many changes to deal with. Depending on what house Taurus represents in your chart, will determine how good this transit may be for you. Having a personal chart reading with me, will let you see all those details. http://www.vedicstarcharts.com
4/08/15 – Benefic Jupiter got out of retrograde motion and went Direct again! This very positive planet has been crossing the sign of Cancer, where it is exalted and thus most powerful since 6/18/14 and it will remain there until 7/13/15. When a benefic planet is retrograde, it makes it even more powerful, yet retrograde periods can still produce a period where things seem to be “going backwards.” Now Jupiter can happily march forward bringing good influences to many, and especially generous benefits to those of us with Cancer Rising or Moon signs.
4/09/15 – Mars went combust the Sun. When a planet is traveling too close to this fiery luminary, its qualities get “burnt” a bit. Aries and Scorpio are ruled by Mars so they are the ones who need to watch out the most for feelings of impatience, irritability or anger during this time. At least Mars is in Aries, its own sign, so it feels powerful now.
4/11/15 – Mercury entered the fire sign Aries, joining Mars there. It was a relief for Mercury and those ruled by it (Virgo and Gemini) to get out of Pisces, its sign of debilitation, and of course, to get away from tricky Ketu. It is especially well-placed for the Geminis, in their 11th house of gain and income. For the Virgos among us, there will be some vulnerability or uncomfortable “changes” since Aries represents their 8th house. It will move into Taurus later this month, on 4/26.
4/14/15 – The SUN entered its sign of Exaltation, Aries. Now we have a planet pile-up there, since Mars and Mercury are already in this fire sign. Those ruled by the Sun (Leos) will feel more active and have greater success now. Each year there is a 2.5 day period in which both the Sun and Moon are in their signs of Exaltation. There is one day designated as Akahaya Tritiya, “The Day of Lasting Achievement”, which I understand is 4/20 here in the USA this year (in India it will already be the next day 4/21). It’s a great time to begin something new.
4/22/15 – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, so this is a relief for the Geminis and Virgos, and helps communication in general become more civil, polite and tactful.
4/26/15 – Mercury enters Taurus. This connects Virgos with their 9th house of good fortune, so it’s a positive change for them. For the Geminis, this is their 12th house of isolation, loss and expenditure, so the best use of the time is to go inward and enjoy meditation, while watching your spending!
