Vedic Astrology Planets of July 2018: TWO Eclipses This Month
July 1, 2018July 13th – This partial Solar eclipse occurs in the air sign of Gemini. It will be visible in Australia and the Indian and Pacific oceans. It’s mainly the areas of visibility that feel the most impact of any given eclipse. Though the Leo Ascendants and Moon sign people may not feel so comfortable on that day, as the “Light” of this luminary is being partially hidden. We are fortunate that it will not be visible in the USA. (see more on eclipses, below).
July 25th – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE. Is that groaning I hear from afar here? Yes, we’re in for it again. Let’s remember it is not just the signs ruled by Mercury that get affected (Virgo and Gemini) but this planet governs for all, the realms of commerce, diplomacy and tactfulness, as well as communication and any equipment related to same. Mercury has been transiting the sign of Cancer. This retrograde period lasts until August 18th, causing Mercury to remain in Cancer until September 2nd. For Cancerians, due to the houses it rules for them, this can bring both spiritual influences as well as keeping them active with projects including writing. At least this sign represents positive houses for both the Virgos and Geminis.

February 2017 Planets: Monthly Vedic Astrology Blog
February 2, 2017February Planet Report….
Are you Scorpios enjoying the relief of Saturn’s recent movement OFF of your Rising Sign, Moon sign or Sun sign? That occurred on January 26th. Already some of my friends, especially the Scorpio Moon groups, have shared with me their feelings of relief from Saturn’s grinding pressure.
2/03/17 – Mercury moves into Capricorn, a friend’s sign. It will join the Sun there. This placement is fine for the Virgos, ruled by Mercury, but not so good for the other signed ruled by Mercury, Gemini. This 8th house for them represents Transformation, battles and disunion, vulnerability, life and death. So it’s never exactly comfortable when it’s making this transit each year. Mercury will move on 2/22/17 into Aquarius, bringing some relief.
2/05/17 – The great benefic Jupiter goes Retrograde! This lasts until 6/09/17. Jupiter is currently in Virgo, which should bring to this earth sign both friends and partners, so that is a nice placement for them. The two signs ruled by Jupiter are Sagitarius and Pisces. The placement for both of them is okay. When a benefic planet goes retrograde, it is generally thought to enhance its benefic energies. (The opposite is true for a malefic planet).
2/10-11/17 – Depending on where you live, this partial (penumbral) lunar eclipse will occur over one of these dates. The range of visibility will be in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia. Please remember that eclipses are never auspicious but just the opposite and their effect is felt most greatly in the areas in which they are visible. It looks to me that it will be at full effect here in Sedona, AZ on Feb. 11th around 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. This eclipse occurs in the sign of Leo.
2/12/17 – The Sun moves into Aquarius for a month. Though still in an enemy’s sign (as both Capricorn and Aquarius are ruled by Saturn), this will be a much better placement for the LEOS, who are ruled by the Sun. It is going away from their 6th house of rivals, enemies and competitors into their 7th house of business and partnerships, also travel.
2/16/17 – Mercury goes combust the Sun (traveling too close for comfort). This condition will last until 3/21/17. Those most affected are Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon signs, but everyone will have to watch for being less than tactful. Try and keep communications positive and thoughtful now.
2/22/17 – Mercury enters Aquarius. This is helpful to Geminis as it is their 9th (best) house, but not so helpful for Virgos. This is their 6th house of worry, health problems, enemies, rivals and competitors. Plus it will be traveling with tricky Ketu, so watch your back, literally and figuratively.
2/26/17 – Annular Solar Eclipse. This partial eclipse will not be seen in the USA. It occurs in the sign of Aquarius. Those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs may feel especially intuitive at this time, but it’s not a good moment to make big decisions or take actions. It will be visible in S. America, Atlantic, Africa, Antarctica.

September Skies: Vedic Astrology Blog by Mary Stevenson
September 4, 2016There’s much to report in the realm of planet interactions this month.
9/01/16 – The Sun was eclipsed by malefic north node of the Moon, Rahu, in its own sign of LEO. However, this eclipse was barely visible anywhere, and not at all in the USA so other than those with Leo Rising or Moons signs, who may have felt some energetic shifts, I do not feel this was a very significant event, for most.
9/06/16 – MERCURY (which is already retrograde) goes combust the Sun. This condition lasts until 9/16. It does not make Mercury a happy camper, thus misunderstandings and verbal disagreements may ensue, with Mercury not able to provide his usual tactfulness and diplomacy.
MERCURY RETROGRADE began last month and will go until 9/21. At first, it won’t be too much of a problem, since this planet that deals with communication has been crossing Virgo, its own sign, where it is strong and happy. BUT! It will back up into LEO, the previous sign on 9/09/16. There it will be sitting with the Sun (briefly, until it moves) and malefic RAHU. Things will get more dicey for those ruled by Mercury, Geminis and Virgos. Especially the Virgos may experience more challenging results at this time, with the ruler of their charts crossing their 12th house of loss, expenses, seclusion or isolation. Add to this Rahu playing a wild card thrown into this transit. This condition lasts until 10/03/16, when Mercury will return to Virgo, and peace and order will be restored for you.
9/11/16 – Benefic JUPITER goes combust the Sun. This condition lasts until 10/10/16 affecting those ruled by Jupiter, Pisces and Sagittarius. You have a normally happy, upbeat nature, but could feel some inner “pinch” at this time. Take care of yourself and know that “this too shall pass.”
9/16/16 – the Sun enters Virgo. Here it escapes its one month transit with malefic Rahu. That will come as a relief. Jupiter and Venus will still be in Virgo at this time. Those with Virgo Rising and Moon signs may have to watch their tendency to spend now, caused by the Sun, their 12th ruler, crossing the 1st house of self.
9/16/16 – Meanwhile, that same day, there will be a Penumbral Lunar eclipse (partial). We are fortunate that it will not be visible in the USA. Regions which will be seeing at least some parts of the eclipse: Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, West in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica. Eclipses are not auspicious in the tradition of Vedic Astrology, thus those in the areas where the light of this eclipsed luminary is visible, will experience the greatest effects.
9/17/16 – MARS ENTERS SAGITTARIUS! Finally this long ordeal that has been going on since 7/12/16, with Mars transiting Scorpio in conjunction with Saturn, will be over. Both planets will breath their respective signs of relief. This has not been an easy transit especially, for those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, since Scorpio represents their 8th house of vulnerability, battles and disunion, transformation, life and death. It will be such a blessing for the ruler of your sign to now enter your 9th “best” house in your chart and bring you support of Nature, good luck and good fortune.
9/18/16 – VENUS enters Libra its own sign. This great benefic will be very happy here and benefit those with Libra Rising or Moon signs greatly. The other sign ruled by Venus is Taurus. They will not have as easy a run of it, since Libra represents their 6th house of stress, worry, enemies, rivals and competitors, plus possible health problems. This transit lasts until 10/13/16.
There is no doubt that next month will be an easier ride for most of us, once Mars finally moves away from Saturn on 9/17; Mercury gets out of retrograde on 9/21 and we get further past the two eclipses of September.
To get a better understanding of how all these transits and other factors affect your personal life, call me for a reading!

February Planets Dance Through the Vedic Star Sky
February 1, 2016We start the month with Jupiter being the only planet in retrograde motion.
January 7th is the date Jupiter went retrograde. It gets out of this condition on May 9th, which is when relief comes to the signs it rules, Sagittarius and Pisces. Thus if your Ascendant or Moon sign is one of these, you now have the opportunity to work on finishing up some old business or getting to the bottom of a situation that had eluded your grasp previously. That is one thing a retrograde period is good for.
A further complication for our Sag and Pisces friends is the situation of Jupiter being conjunct, to the very same degree for some days now, with malefic Rahu, the north node of the Moon, who is known as the “seizer.” The lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu, only eclipse our solar system luminaries, the Sun and Moon, in the technical sense. Energetically though, those ruled by Jupiter could feel that something is trying to “eclipse” their goals or feelings at this time. Because both Rahu and Jupiter are in backwards (retrograde) movement now, this to-the-very-degree situation will continue for some time. By Feb. 20th they will finally at least be more than one degree apart, which will help some.
Virgos and Geminis in the Vedic Astrology zodiac have been feeling relieved since the ruler of their chart, Mercury, got out of retrograde on January 25.
Feb. 8 – MERCURY moves into Capricorn, a friend’s sign (its friend Venus joins him there on Feb. 12th). For Virgos this represents the 5th house of learning, education, success, children and love affairs, plus inclinations of the mind. Thus Virgos get the good end of this particular transit. For Geminis, the other sign ruled by Mercury, it is not as much fun, as Capricorn represents their 8th house of battles, disunion, transformation and vulnerability. We can only ask the all-important question, “What am I to learn from this situation?” rather than let possible insecurities overtake us during this period of changing circumstances.
Feb. 12 – VENUS enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign. This bodes well for both signs ruled by this great benefic, Libra and Taurus. For the Libras, the ruler of their chart will now be crossing the 4th house of home, real estate, friends, vehicles, self confidence. There could be some cozy times spent at home or genial social gatherings with friends now. For the Taureans, Capricorn represents their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, destiny, dharma, remedies, pilgrimage, natural law, higher education, etc. Thus our Taurus friends should be in for a period of feeling lucky and on point in their endeavors.
As a reminder, your Dashas are King! That means your personal planetary cycles weigh more in the analysis of a chart reading, than do the transits. I give insights on where the planets are in the sky each month in this Blog, to offer a taste of what this 5,000-year old aspect of Vedic Science can do to offer insights into the trends going on in your life, but nothing replaces a personal chart reading, FYI.
Feb. 13 – The SUN moves into Aquarius. For the Aquarians, the Sun owns the 7th house, representing partners, thus those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs could easily attract to themselves a business partner or new personal relationship during this 30-day transit. Conversely, for the Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, they will find themselves able to and interested in reaching out to other people and partners, as the ruler of their chart will be crossing their 7th house.
Feb. 20 – Things heat up for Scorpios as their planetary ruler, MARS enters their sign, joining its enemy Saturn, which has been transiting there for some time. Mars remains here until June 17. Saturn doesn’t move until January 26, 2017. These two planets represent the cross-purpose concepts of “hurry up, and slow down.” Mars wants to get everything done YESTERDAY (or sooner), thus bringing much drive, energy, initiative and action into the energy field of Scorpios. But Saturn wants a more moderate, deliberate pace. Saturn brings detachment and delays, humility and hard work. It is not to be trifled with! And certainly won’t let itself be pushed around by impatient Mars, which can sometimes cause an individual to act rashly…the very opposite of Saturn’s cautious nature. Thus if you have a Scorpio Moon or Ascendant, you may experience some internal push/pull or paradoxical forces operating within your psyche and your life until Mars moves on, March 1st.
We shall have some interesting changes to discuss next month, with a March 8/9 (depending on your time zone) total solar eclipse, and a partial lunar eclipse on March 23. As if that were not enough excitement, Saturn goes retrograde on March 25! Stay tuned.

The Planets of April in the Vedic Sky
April 15, 2015First of all, I’d like to share an example of how the planets’ influence can work in our lives, even in small and practical ways. As you know, I try and get my blog written and sent out the very first of each month. Well….here it is mid-April, and I’m just getting a chance to get to it! For various reasons including travel, my time has just been totally absorbed with other things. I’d think about my blog and want very much to get to it, but there were always “hindrances.” Considering that the Sun rules my 2nd house of communication, and that its been transiting with malefic Ketu – which stands for hindrance and degradation! – from mid-March until just yesterday, now we see the explanation for this delay. Finally, with Sun now in Aries, I can write. So that’s my planet story and I’m sticking to it. LOL.
4/04/15 – much ado was made about the “Blood Moon” lunar eclipse on this date. It was visible in North America so those of us living here would be affected by it. Some Jyotish pandits feel the effects last from 2 weeks before, until 2 weeks after, an eclipse. Some extend that period to be a month before, up to a month after. This eclipse occurred in the practical earth sign of Virgo, so those with Virgo Ascendants or Moon signs would have felt it the most. Rahu, the malefic north node of the moon which caused this eclipse, has been crossing Virgo since 7/13/14 anyway, causing a range of upheavals, transformation and unexpected events. We have to remember that eclipses are not auspicious events, in the Vedic Astrology system.
4/06/15 – Venus entered its own sign of Taurus, where it is strong and happy. Those with Taurus Ascendants or Moon signs should be feeling especially good now, and yearning to be surrounded by affection, beauty, luxury and comforts. Librans are also ruled by Venus, but having the ruler of their chart now crossing their 8th house is not as good, because it can increase the feelings of vulnerability and bring too many changes to deal with. Depending on what house Taurus represents in your chart, will determine how good this transit may be for you. Having a personal chart reading with me, will let you see all those details. http://www.vedicstarcharts.com
4/08/15 – Benefic Jupiter got out of retrograde motion and went Direct again! This very positive planet has been crossing the sign of Cancer, where it is exalted and thus most powerful since 6/18/14 and it will remain there until 7/13/15. When a benefic planet is retrograde, it makes it even more powerful, yet retrograde periods can still produce a period where things seem to be “going backwards.” Now Jupiter can happily march forward bringing good influences to many, and especially generous benefits to those of us with Cancer Rising or Moon signs.
4/09/15 – Mars went combust the Sun. When a planet is traveling too close to this fiery luminary, its qualities get “burnt” a bit. Aries and Scorpio are ruled by Mars so they are the ones who need to watch out the most for feelings of impatience, irritability or anger during this time. At least Mars is in Aries, its own sign, so it feels powerful now.
4/11/15 – Mercury entered the fire sign Aries, joining Mars there. It was a relief for Mercury and those ruled by it (Virgo and Gemini) to get out of Pisces, its sign of debilitation, and of course, to get away from tricky Ketu. It is especially well-placed for the Geminis, in their 11th house of gain and income. For the Virgos among us, there will be some vulnerability or uncomfortable “changes” since Aries represents their 8th house. It will move into Taurus later this month, on 4/26.
4/14/15 – The SUN entered its sign of Exaltation, Aries. Now we have a planet pile-up there, since Mars and Mercury are already in this fire sign. Those ruled by the Sun (Leos) will feel more active and have greater success now. Each year there is a 2.5 day period in which both the Sun and Moon are in their signs of Exaltation. There is one day designated as Akahaya Tritiya, “The Day of Lasting Achievement”, which I understand is 4/20 here in the USA this year (in India it will already be the next day 4/21). It’s a great time to begin something new.
4/22/15 – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, so this is a relief for the Geminis and Virgos, and helps communication in general become more civil, polite and tactful.
4/26/15 – Mercury enters Taurus. This connects Virgos with their 9th house of good fortune, so it’s a positive change for them. For the Geminis, this is their 12th house of isolation, loss and expenditure, so the best use of the time is to go inward and enjoy meditation, while watching your spending!

October Planets: Mercury Goes Retrograde! 10/04-25/2014
September 29, 2014Vedic Astrology Planet Movements for October, 2014
First we’ll check in on the Libra and Virgo Ascendants and Moon sign people: How’s that going for you, having the ruler of both of your charts in planetary exchange? Mercury moved into Libra (Venus’ sign) on 9/20, and Venus moved into Virgo (Mercury’s sign) on 9/24. It’s a good thing that these two planets are “friends” and thus happy to be spending time in each other’s “houses.”
The current “compound dignity” for each of these planets in their transiting positions is “great friends” which is as positive as it sounds. Here’s how their interaction translates for your sign:
It’s just fine for the Virgos among us. You have Mercury, the ruler of the 1st house of “self” sitting now in your 2nd house of “family, wealth and speech.” (and vice versa, Venus, ruling your 2nd house of wealth, sitting in your 1st house of “self” bringing its wonderful benefic, enriching qualities to you.) Even though Venus is in its sign of debilitation here, it can still bring positive results. Venus also governs your 9th house of good luck, good fortune, dharma, and natural law. So to have that 9th house ruler crossing your house of self, is beneficial. A planetary exchange creates a much tighter bond between the areas that each planet stands for, than just having the ruler of your chart crossing that house. It gives a greater energetic impact to your experience of these significations, as they manifest in very practical ways. However, Rahu, the north node of the Moon and a tricky malefic, is also traveling in Virgo with Venus, so you can still experience the kind of ups and downs, and unexpected events that Rahu is famous for, Virgo friends.
Libras on the other hand (as if you haven’t been through enough lately!) are having to deal with Venus, the ruler of your chart, now crossing your 12th house of “loss and expenses” which is also the house of isolation or conversely, seclusion, i.e. you may CHOOSE some alone time right now. In your case, the exchange is between your 1st and 12th house rulers, so you may not feel as outgoing as normal, or just overloaded with everything on your “To Do list.” You will have to be careful of your spending at this time. Your energy could also be feeling somewhat low or sluggish due to the debilitated status of Venus in the sign of Virgo.
10/04/14 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! It will stay in this backwards-appearing motion until 10/25/14. We get to “enjoy” this learning experience at least three times per year, for three weeks at a time. It can gum up the works as far as our channels of communication are concerned (and oftentimes do the same with our communications equipment). However, we can also get a chance to finish projects that were begun previously which we may have had to put off, at such times. I would advise being conscious to try for the most tactful approaches in your conversations, both written and in person. Do not assume that you really “got” what the other person just said, nor that they really understood your meaning and intentions! That’s just the way this planet influence works, so it’s always good to check in and ask if they meant “X” or “Y’ thing, when communicating with others now.
10/08/14 – TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE – this celestial event will be visible in Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean and the Americas. This eclipse will occur in the sign of Pisces, where the Moon will be joining Ketu, the south node of the Moon, which already moved into this dual water sign on 7/13/14. People with Pisces or Cancer (the sign ruled by the Moon) Rising signs or Moon signs, will feel it the most. One type of experience you may have now is greater intuition or a sudden mystical understanding, so it’s not all bad. However, the ancient Vedic texts advise against looking at the eclipse itself. Eclipses are considered negative omens traditionally, as either Rahu (north node) or Ketu (south node) is trying to “swallow” or put out the light of one of the luminaries of our solar system, the Sun or the Moon. It is advised not to eat at that time, and especially any pregnant ladies should not be outside to receive the rays of this darkening of the Moon (or Sun) for such inauspicious events.
10/10/14 – to make things even more “interesting”, Mercury also goes “combust the Sun” on this date, while it is still retrograde. That means it is traveling too close to the Sun for comfort and thus feeling more irritated and angry then normal. Those of you ruled by Mercury (Virgos and Geminis) will likely feel it the most. Be mindful of getting easily irritated during this period. It gets out of combustion on 10/22/14.
10/16/14 Mercury backs up into the previous sign of Virgo on this date, while still in retrograde motion. Since this is its own sign, it will be comfortable here, and communication can actually increase in clarity to some degree for the Virgo Rising and Moon signs.
10/17/14 – it’s that time of year when the SUN moves into LIBRA, which is a sign loving peace, harmony and balance. However the Sun is in debilitated dignity here, thus feels the weakest. Libras can enjoy the 11th house qualities which the Sun brings your way: “gain, income, fulfillment of desire”, but Leos who are ruled by the Sun, may not feel as vital and vibrant as they usually do.
10/18/14 – Venus moves into LIBRA, its own sign, where it is happy and strong. Those of you with Libra Rising or Moon signs will get to feel more energy and also be feeling more attractive now, with benefic Venus crossing your house of self and body.
10/18/14 – on this same day, MARS moves into the fire sign Sagittarius. This will bring mixed influences to the Sagittarius Ascendants and Moon signs. While Mars rules your 5th house of success, education, children and intellect, it also governs your 12th house of loss and expenses. Thus Mars can bring a taste of “all of the above” while it transits your sign. It stays here until 11/27/14…when it moves into Capricorn, where it enjoys Exalted dignity. That’s something for the Capricorns to look forward to.
10/23/14 – PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE – this event will be visible in the north Pacific Ocean and in North America. Since the SUN will have moved already into the air sign LIBRA on 10/17/14, and the north node Rahu is in Virgo, this eclipse is more of what I call a “glancing blow”, as the light will not get totally “put out” by malefic Rahu. Still, those with Leo Rising or Moon signs (which are ruled by the Sun), may be feeling a little more sensitive and out of sorts than you normally do on this day.

Total LUNAR Eclipse 4/14-15; SOLAR Eclipse 4/29
April 6, 2014Planet Movements for April, 2014
April 3, 2014 – Mercury went into Pisces, where it is “debilitated” or weaker than normal. This could affect tactfulness and diplomacy in general, and particularly affect those ruled by Mercury, the signs of Virgo and Gemini. However this transit is in a good house for those with these Rising or Moon signs, so really should not be so bad. In other words, not like a “Mercury Retrograde” period!
April 12, 2014 – Mercury becomes “combust the Sun”, meaning traveling so close to the Sun that it can feel irritated and react rashly. This status lasts until May 8th, and WILL affect Geminis and Virgos, so this is good to know, as a reminder to focus on patience now, as best you can.
April 13, 2014 – SUN enters ARIES, its sign of Exaltation, where it is the stronger and most powerful. This will be a most auspicious transit for those with LEO Rising or Moon Signs, as the Sun rules Leo. Your leadership abilities should be outstanding now. Aries sign folks will feel full of energy and dynamism, as well. This is a one month transit.
April 14 -15, 2014 – TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE. This eclipse is interesting and unusual for a number of reasons. In terms of our local time here in Boulder, CO (Mountain Daylight Time), it begins at 10:53 p.m. on April 14, in the sign of VIRGO. But then the Moon quickly moves into the next sign LIBRA at 11:29 p.m. April 14th, to join the strong Saturn which has been in this sign for so long, and the malefic RAHU, which is trying to now “swallow” the light of the Moon, to put it out, and thus causing the eclipse. Locally here in CO, we will experience the full effect of this eclipse on April 15th at 1:06 a.m., and it is over at 4:37 a.m. on April 15th. This celestial event will be visible from North and South America, most of Europe, East Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
April 20, 2014 – MERCURY enters Aries, where it joins its friend, the Sun. Thus we see it will have a rather brief stay in Pisces, the previous sign, where it was debilitated. Virgos and Geminis should contact me for a reading to understand the full impact on them personally, for this particularly transit. It is basically GOOD for the Geminis, for gain and income, and can cause some feeling of “vulnerability” in the Virgos.
Annular Solar Eclipse of April 29
Now malefic Ketu, the south node of the Moon, tries to put out the bright light of the Exalted Sun in Aries. Just a reminder that no eclipse is considered as a positive thing in Vedic Astrology, but quite the opposite. This eclipse will be visible in the following areas: the South Indian Ocean, the south edge of Indonesia, all of Australia, and Antarctica. We are fortunate that this event will not be visible here in America. Here is some very interesting information which I found on the NASA eclipse info website:
The first solar eclipse of 2014 occurs at the Moon’s descending node in southern Aries. This particular eclipse is rather unusual because the central axis of the Moon’s antumbral shadow misses Earth entirely while the shadow edge grazes the planet. Classified as a non-central annular eclipse, such events are rare. Out of the 3,956 annular eclipses occurring during the 5,000-year period -2000 to +3000, only 68 of them or 1.7% are non-central (Espenak and Meeus, 2006).
April 27, 2014 – benefic VENUS enters Pisces, its sign of exaltation which is grand news for those with Taurus rising or Moon signs, since Venus is the lord of your chart, and will now be crossing your 11th house of gain and income, in high status. It rules Libra as well, but having Venus crossing your 6th house in such high dignity can actually increase your worries, stress, anxiety or “rivals, enemies, and competitors”, so this is not as comfortable for you Libra folks. Other signs should expect more positive results from this transit, except for the Leos among us, as this is their 8th house of vulnerability and for the Aries folks, it is the 12th house of loss and expenditure, which may be increased for them in this time…until VENUS moves into Aries on MAY 23.

Solar Eclipse, November 3rd; Mercury goes Direct on November 10th
November 3, 2013Today’s Solar Eclipse – November 3, 2013
11/03/2013 – this partial solar eclipse occurred from 5:15 to 7:10 a.m. Mountain Time, but was not actually visible here in Colorado. It was visible and thus affecting astrologically, the eastern 2/3 of the USA, the North Atlantic, northern South America, the Middle East and equatorial Africa. A good website for visually tracking this and other eclipses is http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/insert name of city here.
Eclipses are inauspicious from the point of view of Vedic Astrology, as here we have malefic Rahu (north node of the Moon), trying to “swallow” i.e. put out of the light of the great luminary of our solar system, the Sun. This occurred in the sign of LIBRA, which has already been so greatly afflicted in recent months, due to the conjunction of malefic Rahu and exalted Saturn in this sign. Those with Libra Ascendant or Moon signs would feel this additional affliction from the solar eclipse the most, along with LEOs, as the Sun rules their sign.
At least we are past that dicey period that exists between two eclipses, in this case the partial lunar eclipse which occurred on October 18th, and this one today, the partial solar eclipse of November 3rd. We are coming into the home stretch! Pretty soon some of the combined intense planet energy will start to lift, as follows:
11/10/2013 – Mercury gets out of retrograde. The 3 week period that is ending has offered us a chance to review and rectify projects and communications which were started some time ago. We’ve had an opportunity now to improve, amend or repair whatever was left incomplete, which is a good thing, really. Of course, the snafus, miscommunications or communications equipment failures that also accompany any Mercury Retrograde period were in abundance as well. I guess I have learned to just “not take these things personally” as I was able to laugh off one of these “anything that can go wrong, will” scenarios, while trying to fill my brother’s car with gasoline on a recent visit back to SC. It was a really laughable and ridiculous situation, that would not have happened unless Mercury was retrograde!
Other coming improvements:
11/07/2013 – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, making Virgos and Geminis (since Mercury rules those signs) feel much happier, and helping communication and commerce for most people.
11/15/2013 – the Sun moves from its debilitation sign of Libra (leaving behind the troublesome Rahu and its enemy Saturn in the process), and moves into a friend’s sign, SCORPIO. This helps renew energy for the Leos of the zodiac, and brings power and focused action to Scorpio Rising and Moon sign folks as well.
11/23/2013 – one problematic occurrence, especially for those with Capricorn or Aquarius Ascendants or Moon signs (as Saturn rules those signs), has been the extreme combustion of Saturn with the Sun. This combust status does not end until 11/23. Right now the Sun and Saturn are within 2 degrees of each other, in Libra (which does not make the Librans feel so good, either!). They will be at the very same degree on November 6th. Combustion of a planet makes its significations be “like a crispy critter”; so all the GOOD things Saturn stands for, like self discipline, hard work and duty, will be under the gun until this is over. Once again, we have multiple reasons, as discussed in previous blog posts of mine, that it will take until the second half of November for planetary conditions and influences to become much improved.
11/06/2013 – another development of great interest will be benefic planet JUPITER going retrograde on this date. It is transiting the sign of Gemini, and rules the 7th house of partners for this sign. Perhaps Geminis will get the chance to re-examine former connections and consider a fresh start? Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces, so those with these Rising or Moon signs will also feel the effects. The retrograde motion continues for a long time – until the wee hours of March 6, 2014 – plenty of time for the above signs to rearrange situations which need some final touches of improvement and put things in order.

Partial Lunar Eclipse in Aries today; Sun joined Saturn and Rahu in Libra
October 18, 2013Has anyone else been feeling the effects of this partial lunar eclipse today? It is visible in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. Somehow it has “eaten my keys” which I simply never, ever misplace! Just to give you one small example of its effects.
This eclipse is occurring in the sign of Aries, in the Vedic Astrology system, so those with Aries Rising or Moon in their natal charts will feel it the most. Those with Libra Rising or Moon charts will feel the results in their house of partners!
Speaking of Libras:
October 17 – the Sun joined Saturn and Rahu in Libra. Saturn’s strong dignity here (exalted) will at least help to mitigate or provide Neecha Bhanga Yoga for the Sun’s debilitation in this sign. But it is not a pretty picture. As the Sun nears Saturn’s degree, Saturn gets “combust the Sun” (and thus angry) as of OCTOBER 20th.
By late night of November 6, 2013, Saturn will be completely combust the Sun, to the same degree. These two are arch enemies anyway, so this is not a good state of affairs…for individuals with a Libra chart, and also the impact between Government (which the Sun stands for) and the workers or common people (Saturn). Much friction could still be experienced even though one cliff hanger of stress has just been passed for our country.
Rahu is the Wild Card that can add more unexpected chaos into this already tense situation between Saturn and the Sun. Sorry to have to give you more challenging news, Libras. The Sun will finally move on into Scorpio on November 15 (or the wee hours of the 16th if you are east of our Mountain Time Zone). I really do not expect a calmer atmosphere to prevail until that time.
10/21 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! Also in the sign of Libra, Mercury will make it’s presence known in terms of adding complications to the communication arena now. Libras, Mercury owns for you the 9th house of remedies, good fortune and Natural Law, which is good, but also the 12th house of losses and expenditures, but also spiritual development. The best thing to do at this time is to meditate and stay regular with whatever spiritual path or techniques work for you. Mercury goes DIRECT on November 10th.
October 30th – VENUS enters Sagittarius on this date, bringing more pleasures for those with this sign, so at least there is some good news for someone on this monthly report.
