August 2021 Planet Transits

August 2, 2021

Is everyone ready for August? It’s here! With all the planet changes fit to print, as we consider the transit movements happening this month.

8/08/21 – Mercury enters Leo. This planet of communication, curiosity and friendliness can help make our Leo friends a bit more chatty. It’s also helpful financially to those with Leo Rising or Moon signs. Mercury rules the signs of Gemini and Virgo. Leo is the 3rd house for Geminis, so they can expect to be busy with projects now, including some writing. For Virgos, Leo is their 12th house, so there may be some losses, expenditures, or a feeling to be a little withdrawn and inward now, craving some solitude. This transit lasts until 8/25.

8/11/21 – Venus moves into Virgo. and remains there until 9/5/21. This benefic planet is debilitated or at its weakest in the sign of Virgo but still brings many benefits to those with Virgo Ascendants or Moon signs, for it rules their 2nd house of wealth and 9th house of good luck and good fortune, bringing those significations to Virgo’s front burners. The signs of Libra and Taurus are ruled by Venus. Taureans will benefit from this 5th house transit for them, as they should enjoy success, enhanced interest in learning and/or closeness to children. For Libras, this is a 12th house transit, so not as favorable, as it increases losses and expenses.

8/15/21 – Mercury gets out of combustion (traveling too close to the Sun) which status it has been in since 7/19. Communication in general should be more flowing now, in general, with fewer chances of being misunderstood. Virgo and Gemini Ascendants and Moon chart folks should feel more at ease now.

8/16/21 – The SUN enters Leo for its one month transit in this Fire sign, which it owns. Leos should feel very empowered during this period, with the natural leadership abilities shining. It’s important for Leo Rising and Moon signs to take care not to get overheated, either physically or in temperament at this time.

8/17/21 – MARS becomes combust the Sun, as its orbit brings it a little too close to the fiery orb of the Sun for comfort. Those ruled by Mars are Aries and Scorpio. They may feel a bit more impatient, restless and quarrelsome during this period, which lasts until 11/28. Yes, that IS a long period for Mars-ruled people to need to watch their temper, and tendency to do things too hastily.

8/22/21 – FULL MOON in Aquarius. The Moon is at its maximum point of fullness right at 6:00 a.m. Mountain time, in the sign of Aquarius. In this progressive sign of the humanitarian, may the full moon usher in energies of progress for society as a whole. For the Cancer Rising and Moon signs, which are ruled by the Moon, this sign represents their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, as well as sexuality. Changes may bring some feelings of insecurity to Cancerians. However, it will be conjunct with benefic Jupiter here, so this conjunction brings protection and intuition.

8/25/21 – MERCURY will move into its own sign of Virgo at 23:48 p.m. MDT, so in the wee hours of 8/26 for those living east of here. It remains in this sign until 9/21. This is a very beneficial transit for both the Geminis and Virgos, and brings a great deal of intellectual clarity. As Virgo’s 10th house ruler it also can bring good career progress and personal power right now. For Geminis this is a 4th house placement, so their home life and friends will be highlighted, and self confidence should be healthy in this period.

July 2021 Vedic Planet Transits

July 5, 2021

I hope that July ushers in great blessings for you all. This month brings in a number of positive changes, as outlined below.

First and foremost is the move of Mercury into its own sign of Gemini, on 7/07/21, in the wee hours re Central and Eastern Times Zones (late at night for Mountain and Pacific times ones, on 7/06/21).

Since June 3rd, Mercury has been transiting the sign of Taurus, conjunct there with Rahu (the North Node of the Moon, who “seizes and lets go). This has not been comfortable for communication clarity in general, but especially unpleasant for those ruled by Mercury, the signs of Virgo and Gemini. If you have one of those Ascendants or Moon charts, tell me how much better you begin to feel after July 7th! This applies more so to the Gemini Ascendants or Moon signs, because all this time that Mercury has been in Taurus, because this is their 12th house of loss, expenses, solitude or isolation, causing them to experience some of those things. It has affected their self-confidence as well, since it also rules their 4th house. It will be a tremendous relief for them. Our Gemini friends will feel stronger, healthier, happier, more self-empowered and more like their usual friendly selves again.

7/16/21 – TWO planets change signs on this date. Early that morning the Sun moves into Cancer, a friend’s sign, where it will remain for a month. It joins Mars and Venus here, bringing a mixture of outgoing energy now for this often shy sign. For those with Cancer Rising or Cancer Moon charts, this can bring a closeness to family and also good financial success now, plus they will enjoy “shining in the sunlight” with some softer type of leadership energy. Yes, Cancerians will have to watch out for getting “overheated” in both the physical sense and in terms of temperament, with both fiery Mars and the Sun crossing their first house of self and body. Those ruled by the Sun, Leos, will have a time to go more inward, utilizing meditative techniques in solitude. It’s best to use the transit in this way, or…they could experience other 12th house significations: losses, expenses, isolation.

I must say a few words about the positive role Saturn is playing now, from its position in its own sign of Capricorn. Not only has this been beneficial to those with Capricorn Ascendants and Moon charts, it is doing Mars a favor here. Much has been made by some astrologers over Mars’ yearly transit through its sign of debilitation, Cancer. We must not forget that Saturn is providing TWO types of Neechabhanga Yoga (cancellation of debilitation) from its position in high dignity, from where it is also aspecting (looking at) Mars. Thus there is not so much to worry about, from my point of view. Saturn in Capricorn played this same role of providing Neechabhanga Yoga relief for Jupiter on its previous transit through Capricorn, and will again when Jupiter returns to this sign briefly from 9/14 – 11/20/21. Thank you, Saturn!

7/16/21 – The other planet to move this day is Venus, which goes into Leo. Venus remains in this sign until 8/11/21. While in Leo it will enhance the affectionate nature of those with Leo Rising or Moon charts, as well as their creativity. This is the 2nd house for Cancers, so this transit provides prosperity for those with that Rising or Moon sign. Libras are ruled by Venus, and should enjoy this transit through their 11th house of income, gain and fulfillment of desires. Taureans are also ruled by Venus. This transit represents their 4th house of home, comforts, friends, vehicles and self confidence, and thus the transit should contribute to a happy time for them.

7/19/21 – Mercury will be combust the Sun until 8/15/21. As we know, the effects can be rashness in speech, and loss of tactfulness. Watch out for temper, restlessness, being quick to anger or bouts of quarrelsomeness.  Don’t let any Pitta (fire element) imbalances get the better of you here.

7/20/21 – Mars enters Leo, a friend’s sign. where it remains until 9/05/21. This brings energy, courage and initiative to those with Leo Rising or Moon signs. It can also be beneficial to real estate matters for Leos. Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio. This is a good transit for both. For the Aries natal Moon or Ascendants, it can bring success through sales, a sharpness in mathematical calculations, easy learning ability, and romantic opportunities. For the Scorpios, this is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame. It will boost their career success and ability to take decisive actions during this transit.

7/25/21 – Mercury enters Cancer. This transit is beneficial to both signs ruled by Mercury: Gemini and Virgo. For the former Rising and Moon signs, this is their 2nd house of family, wealth and speech. For the Virgos, Cancer is their 11th house of gain and income. For those with Cancer Rising or Moon signs, Mercury brings greater communication, potential closeness with siblings, but may also bring some expenses or tendency to go inward as it also rules their 12th house.

JUNE, 2021 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

May 31, 2021

June 1st – MARS enters Cancer this evening, the sign where it is debilitated (i.e. the weakest).

This is actually good news for those with Cancer Ascendants or natal Moon signs, for Mars is their best planet, bringing royal results, as well as energy. Saturn provides Neechabhangha Yoga (cancellation of debilitation) as it is sitting in high dignity in the sign in which Mars gets exalted, plus it is aspecting Mars from there. Thus, technically, that is TWO types of Neechabhanga Yoga! Mars will stay in this sign until July 20th.

June 2nd – Mercury becomes combust the Sun, and remains so until June 19. That means, traveling too close to the Sun and having its significations “burned” a bit. That includes communication, commerce, diplomacy and tactfulness. It has also been retrograde since May 29 and will remain in that condition until June 22. Pay attention to your communication style and resist the impulse to speak before carefully thinking through, the potential impact of your words.

June 3rd – Mercury moves back into the previous sign of Taurus, in its retrograde motion. This presents some challenges for those with Gemini Rising or Moon sign charts. Venus, their 12th house ruler, just entered Gemini on May 28th. Now today Mercury retrogrades back into its 12th house, Taurus, owned by Venus. That is a 1st and 12th ruler exchange, connecting them doubly to the 12th house of loss, expenses, isolation, seclusion. The 12th house also signifies foreign travel and Enlightenment, if any of you are so lucky to have either of those options come up! This exchange of signs happens to be a good one for those with Taurus Rising or natal Moon signs, as for them it is the 1st and 2nd house rulers involved, strengthening their connection to family, wealth and communication.

June 10th – Remember that “Preview” that I gave you last month? Today there is an annular Solar Eclipse in Taurus that will not be comfortable for those with Taurus Rising or natal Moon signs, nor for the Geminis, with this cosmic event occurring in their 12th house of loss, and the lord of their chart, Mercury, being right there in the mix, conjunct Rahu and the Sun, and by the way Mercury will be 100% combust the Sun on that date! The annular phase of this solar eclipse is visible from parts of Russia, Greenland, and northern Canada. Weather permitting, those in Northern Asia, Europe, and the United States will see a partial eclipse, but it is always best to avoid being out during an eclipse.

June 14th – The SUN joins Venus in Gemini, where it stays until July 16th. Those with Gemini Rising or Moon sign charts should feel more energy, playfulness and certainly opportunities for romance and creativity. You will have to watch expenses, however. Leos will enjoy having the ruler of their charts going through their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desires.

June 19th – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, bringing more ease and smoothness in communications. Virgos and Geminis, especially, will feel some relief.

Jupiter 20th – JUPITER goes retrograde. while it travels through the Air sign Aquarius. This makes three of them, since Saturn and Mercury are also retrograde now. When a benefic planet goes retrograde, it actually enhances its benefic qualities and makes it stronger. Jupiter is such a generous planet, representing knowledge, wisdom, good fortune, and other blessings, that while transiting this humanitarian sign, it may bring the possibility of greater good works being done for humanity now.

June 22 – Two planet events today: VENUS enters Cancer in the early hours of the morning, and MERCURY goes Direct at 3:58 p.m. Mountain time. It always feels like a relief to get out of Mercury Retrograde! Having both Mars and Venus in their 1st house will make Cancerians feel playful, energetic, sexy and successful. This conjunction is also positive for their income and career aspirations.

May 2021 Planet Transits – Total Lunar Eclipse May 26

May 2, 2021

Welcome to May! Let’s see what’s going on with the planets in the Vedic Astrology system, in this usually balmy Spring month. The first week of the month things are off to a good start with the following improved planetary positions:

5/01/21 – Mercury gets out of combustion.

5/03/21 – Venus gets out of combustion.

Being combust the Sun causes a planet to become edgy, angry, not able to contribute its full range of positive qualities. This means that the affairs ruled in our charts and our lives that these planets represent can face obstacles, hang-ups, slow downs, misunderstandings and frustration. Mercury governs communication, diplomacy and commerce. Venus represents The Arts, beauty, music, luxuries, pleasures and desires. On top of those basic characteristics, each of these two planets governs two houses in your Vedic birth chart, and the areas those houses represent will also be affected during these periods of combustion, or being “too close to the Sun.” Thus, it will be a relief once these two benefic planets are no longer combust, and many aspects of life will feel easier and more flowing.

5/04/21 – VENUS enters Taurus, where it is happy and strong, because it owns this Earth sign. Those with Taurus Ascendants or Moon signs in their natal charts, will feel an increase of happiness and be more willing to engage in social interactions. For Libras, also ruled by Venus, this transit is not as positive, as Taurus represents their 8th house of Vulnerability and Transformation. Take care of yourselves until this transit ends, on 5/28/21.

5/14/21 – The SUN enters Taurus. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, this placement represents their 10th house of action, career, name and fame, thus this transit helps them to feel empowered and move forward with big strides. The only downside is that here, the Sun will be conjunct with malefic Rahu, which is strong in its sign of Exaltation. This can bring in more passion for the Leo goals, but also some mood swings. For those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, the Sun brings leadership opportunities, and as their 4th house ruler, will attract friends and supporters now, plus the potential for positive developments with real estate. Passion and some mood swings have been going on for them during the entire period that Rahu has been transiting their sign since 9/19/20. The Sun remains in Taurus until June 14th.

Well, each month’s set of transits brings it share of challenges. In the second half of May, we’ll get our share of those, beginning with:

5/23/21 – SATURN GOES RETROGRADE! It remains in this status until 10/10/21. Saturn has been traveling through one of its own signs, Capricorn, since 1/23/20. Like all planets when in their own signs, it likes it there, bringing out some of its more noble qualities such as duty, responsibility, service, and humility. Saturn likes structure and routine. Those with this Rising Sign or Moon sign can also become workaholics if they don’t take care to balance work with rest and relaxation, especially during this Saturn transit. While it is in Retrograde motion, some of the more challenging qualities of Saturn may manifest in the lives of some: grief, separation, obstacles, setbacks, or chronic illness. Balance and preventative self-care will be the key to navigating this several month period of its time in Retrograde.

5/25/21 – MERCURY enters its own sign, Gemini, which is very beneficial to both the Gemini and Virgo Rising and Moon signs charts. Both will feel more empowered, comfortable and in their element. This is also supportive of better communication in general, for most of us. So this is a GOOD transit; enjoy while it lasts, which is until 6/03/21.

5/26/21 – FULL MOON IN SCORPIO TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE! Here we go, with one more second half of May challenge. This celestial event occurs with the south node of the Moon, Ketu, being conjunct with the Moon, in water sign Scorpio. Whereas Ketu is Exalted in this sign; the Moon is Debilitated there. Since the Moon represents mind and emotions, feelings will be more sensitive, run deep, and issues that may have been buried in the subconscious for some time are likely to bubble up, especially for those with Scorpio Rising or Moon charts, as well as for Cancer Rising or Moon charts, since the Moon rules that sign. The period of totality is just 14 minutes, making this a very shallow total eclipse of the Moon. Areas of visibility for this eclipse: Australia, western So. America, SE Asia, and the western USA and Canada. For those of us in Colorado on Mountain Daylight Time, the eclipse begins at 2:47 a.m. with maximum effect at 5:18 a.m., which ends at 5:44 a.m. I’m glad this will occur prior to most people being up and about as from the perspective of Vedic Astrology, eclipses are not positive omens and it is best to avoid viewing them.

5/28/21 – VENUS enters Gemini, a friend’s sign. This shift helps manifest positive experiences for the Taureans, in the areas of family connections, wealth and communication. It is also a big improvement for those with Libra Rising and Moon signs as here the ruler of their chart now enters their 9th house of Dharma, good luck, good fortune, Natural Law, remedies and pilgrimage. The 9th house is the best house in all of our charts. Librans will feel back on top of the world for the duration of this transit, which goes on until 6/22/21. The host sign Gemini, will enjoy the increase of affection and romance, for these often top-heavy-in-the-intellect-department Rising signs and Moon signs, and feel more playful and artistic in this cycle.

5/29/21 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! Yes, one final challenge comes at the end of May. This Retrograde motion period will last until 6/22/21. While Mercury is still in its own sign, that is not as challenging, but it will move backwards into Taurus on 6/03/21 and remain there until 7/06/21. Geminis and Virgos are both ruled by Mercury. When it goes backward into the previous sign, that is the 12th house for Geminis. That is the house of loss, expenses, isolation or seclusion. Time to be very mindful of expenses, and go inward with meditative practices. The best use of this transit is to focus on spiritual growth. I must mention that it will be conjunct with malefic north node of the Moon, Rahu, here. Rahu is “The Seizer,” it seizes and lets go, bringing discomfort to the body and personality, at times. Also, by now most of you readers have already experienced that a Mercury Retrograde period can cause havoc in interpersonal communications or sometimes communication equipment. The old “counting till ten” until we respond can come in handy now to avoid saying things we’d regret later. PREVIEW: When the annular Solar Eclipse in Taurus occurs on 6/10/21, that will not be comfortable for those with Taurus Rising or natal Moon signs, nor for the Geminis, with this occurring in their 12th house of loss, and the lord of their chart, Mercury, being right there in the mix, conjunct Rahu and the Sun, and by the way Mercury will be 100% combust the Sun on that date!

April 2021 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

April 4, 2021

Happy Spring, and Happy Easter! To all who celebrate. Here’s what the planets are up to for April, 2021.

4/04/21 – MERCURY goes Combust the Sun. This condition lasts until 5/01/21 and will effect conversations and various forms of communication or communication equipment. Not as challenging as a Mercury Retrograde period, but enough to cause some annoyances and misunderstandings. So practice diplomacy and tactfulness whenever possible.

4/05/21 – JUPITER, the great benefic planet and ruler of the signs Pisces and Sagittarius, enters air sign Aquarius today. It will stay in this sign until it Retrogrades all the way back into Capricorn, its sign of Debilitation on 9/14/21. So enjoy this time while we have it. This can be a period of great expansion in the realm of humanitarian ideas and projects. Financial benefits should be experienced by many who have either Aquarius Rising or Moon signs. For the Pisceans, it may be a time more of going inward. For Sagittarians, there will be renewed energy to take on projects and get things done.

4/09/21 – VENUS, the other great benefic planet, who rules the signs of Taurus and Libra, now enters Aries, the sign of new beginnings. This is a beneficial transit for our Aries Rising and Moon sign friends. The will surely attract money, partners, or both! A very playful and affectionate time. The same may be said in a way for the Libra Rising and Moon sign individuals, as the ruler of their chart will now transit their 7th house of business, marriage and travel. Reaching out to others will come more naturally at this time for them. However, for the Taureans, this represents a 12th house transit, so watch for expenses. You may crave some solitude now. The alternative is the possibility of foreign travel, if you can swing that in these times!

4/13/21 – A big day with TWO planets on the move: The Sun enters Aries for 30 days, its sign of Exaltation, while Mars enters air sign Gemini. Mars and those ruled by it, Scorpio and Aries Rising and Moon sign folks, will feel a BIG relief to have Mars move away from the conjunction that’s been going on with malefic RAHU, North Node of the Moon, since 2/21/21. Overall, this will lessen tendencies for hostility, conflict and violence in society as a whole. Scorpios will have to deal with the ruler of their charts going into their 8th house of vulnerability and transformation, but they are usually rather adept at riding the waves of change. Aries people will suddenly feel the urge to engage in more creative projects. Mars will remain in Gemini until 6/01/21. Mars brings to those with Gemini Ascendants and Moon signs greater ambition, drive courage and for some, there can be income and gain (as it rules their 11th house). Others may have to deal with health issues due to Mars also ruling their 6th house.

THE SUN in ARIES This is a very happy development for the LEO Rising and Moon sign Vedic charts, as the ruler of Leo moves out of their 8th house of vulnerability and transformation, battles and disunion, and into their BEST house, the 9th house of good luck, good fortune, destiny, Dharma, remedies and Natural Law. The feeling is one of landing on one’s feet whatever they may run into (and other planet transits could have something to say about that). Aries Moon and Rising Sign individuals benefit from increased leadership and feelings of personal power.

4/16/21 – MERCURY enters Aries. Of course Mercury will be traveling a little too close to the Sun for comfort. Both Venus and Mercury will be conjunct the Sun now and in the condition of “combustion” where they aren’t able to fully give their positive significations. For Virgos, Mercury will be traveling now through their 8th house so some changes are to be expected, which may include their work environment, as Mercury rules their 10th house of career as well as their 1st house of self, body, personality and direction of their life. For Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, this is a beneficial transit of their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire.

4/26/21FULL MOON in Libra. This will be at its fullest point close to 9:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Cancerians will enjoy having the ruler of their charts bringing FULLNESS now in their 4th house of happiness, home, friends and supports. Libras can enjoy feeling more active, especially mentally alert and active. Libra is the sign of peace, harmony, balance, and fairness. Equilibrium is essential to Libra Rising or Moon sign folks to enjoy the inner peace that they need in order to stay in balance and function effectively. Enjoy this Full Moon!

4/30/21 – MERCURY enters Taurus, where it will be conjunct malefic Rahu. This could certainly bring some dramatic turns to conversations and even mood swings to those ruled by Mercury: Virgos and Geminis. At least for the Virgos, Taurus represents their 9th (best) house. For the Geminis, this is the house of loss, expenses, isolation, even to the degree of possible hospitalization, as it is their 12th house. Fortunately the 12th house also represents gaining Moksha or final Liberation, so it’s a good time for them to go inward.

All the best to you all from the Sunshine Corner, here in Boulder, CO.  Tel: 720-448-3742.  Your referrals are appreciated; thank you!  Services I offer include: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for someone, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes session, which you are welcomed to record.  http://www.vedicstarcharts.com Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer,  healingevents@yahoo.com.

March, 2021 Vedic Sky Planet Transits

March 4, 2021

How did you all do with that last Mercury Retrograde, January 30 till Feb. 20th?

Wow, that was a tough one and sure seemed to last a looong time! Kicked me around quite a bit. That condition has passed, but now we are going through the unfortunate conjunction of Mars with Rahu in Taurus. This began on Feb. 21st and will continue until April 13th. Has anyone else noticed how many people you have been encountering since this cycle began are acting rough, feisty, angry and or downright mean? Yes, these are the two most fierce malefic planets. When they are conjunct the negativity and potential violence and chaos are simply magnified. Those who have Taurus Rising or Moon signs will feel it the most. What house Taurus represents in your Vedic chart will determine the area in your life in which you feel these effects most.

Let’s see what else the month of March may have in store:

3/11- MERCURY moves into Aquarius, a friend’s sign. Here it joins Venus and the Sun, leaving just Saturn and Jupiter in the previous sign, Capricorn. This is good news for those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs, for now the ruler of their chart, Mercury will be crossing their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, Dharma, natural law, remedies and higher education. This placement will provide more of a “landing on your feet” set of circumstances vs.the previous transit through their 8th house of transformation, vulnerability, battles and disunion. For Virgos, also ruled by Mercury, it is not as comfortable of a placement, for it is their 6th house of health issues, worry, enemies, rivals and competitors. During this transit, it is always best to divert challenging energies through being of service to others, as either a healer or counselor. There’s something about helping others with their problems that can mitigate the worst energies that this transit can be capable of.

3/14 – The SUN enters Pisces for a one month journey. This sign represents kinder, more gentle energies and for many Rising or Moon signs, it is a helpful placement, based on what house it will be in for you. Ironically, it is not the most helpful transit for either the Pisceans nor the Leos, who are ruled by the Sun. For the latter, Pisces represents their 8th house of vulnerability, with many changes beyond one’s control possibly taking place for the next month. For the Pisces Rising and Moon sign folks, the Sun is the ruler of their 6th house, bringing them some inner or outer problems, delays and conflicts.

3/16- VENUS now joins the Sun in Pisces, the sign of Exaltation of this great benefic. It remains here until 4/09. The overall contribution to the quality of life should be an enhancement to the pleasures and comforts of life; more art, music and beauty manifesting for many people now. Except….The Libra Rising and Moon sign people, ruled by Venus, may have some discomforts with Venus in this 6th house position for them. Venus may increase some exposure to competitive situations, or anxiety, various delays and issues with “enemies” (those may be inner or the outer type). Taurus receives greater blessings here, as the ruler of their charts, Venus, will be traveling through their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desires, multiplying all of the above! Note: Venus has been combust since February 13th and will remain in that condition until May 3rd. This condition of traveling too close to the Sun can bring some sense of irritation to normally peaceful Librans and Taureans, who are ruled by Venus.

3/31 – MERCURY enters Pisces, joining its friends Venus and the Sun there. These three planets lined up for Virgos in their 7th house of business, marriage or partnership and travel, are helpful to our practical, logical Earth sign friends. Geminis are also ruled by Mercury and will enjoy this transit through their 10th house of name and fame, action, career, and can be helpful in securing more recognition.

Blessings to you all from the Sunshine Corner, here in Boulder, CO.

FEBRUARY 2021 PLANET TRANSITS

February 2, 2021

I so hope that you had a chance to read my January 2021 Blog. I was busy moving that weekend, and while I did get it written and a notice about that posted on Facebook, there was no time to send out a group email. You can simply follow my monthly free Blog posts and that email will automatically show up in your Inbox! Thanks for sharing this information with interested friends. http://www.watchyourstars.com

Well, how’s everyone doing with this intense pile up of planets in Capricorn? That’s been going on for some time, building, then waning as planets move through this earth sign, approaching and then bypassing the slower moving planets Jupiter and Saturn. Of course, Saturn is very strong in this sign, which it owns. Which is an asset to those with Capricorn Ascendants. If only Saturn’s enemy, the Sun, was not also passing through there (since 1/13/21) burning up any planets that get too close, including Saturn. At present, both Jupiter and Saturn remain combust the Sun. While in this state, a planet has it’s “wings singed,” so to speak, and is not able to contribute its full significations.

Mercury was transiting Capricorn from 1/04 to 1/25/21 and then moved into Aquarius. However, MERCURY JUST WENT RETROGRADE on 1/30 (and will remain in retrograde status until 2/20) so will indeed backtrack all the way into Capricorn on 2/04. FROM 2/04 UNTIL 2/12 THERE WILL BE FIVE PLANETS IN CAPRICORN! ~ until the Sun moves on to Aquarius on 2/12. And, can you stand it? For two and a half days, covering 2/09-2/11, there will be SIX planets there, when the Moon briefly joins the rest. Wow; that is just such DENSE energy and not easy to wade through in this earth sign known as the Work Horse of the Zodiac, which our pet name for is “Practical Strategist.” Many strategies may be needed to get through this logjam.

To have so many planets clustered together in one sign creates much intense energy and the area of your life affects, depends upon your Rising Sign. Just to discuss a few:

CAPRICORNS: Other than the stress the Sun’s transit contributes, especially as it combusts one planet after another there, most of these planets are helping you. Saturn, owning your 1st house of self and body, strengthens you and brings stability and enhances your natural determination. Plus it should bring money to you as it also owns your 2nd house. Venus enhances your learning ability plus makes you feel somewhat in the limelight now, not to mention heightening the affectionate aspect of your nature. Jupiter can bring some spiritual inclinations and intuition. The Sun is not helpful, as it rules your 8th house of vulnerability.

GEMINIS: Capricorn is your 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion. Not a fun time for our Air “sign of the Twins” friends. Just hang on and keep your seat belt fastened! The most concerning period is that eight days of 2/04 – 2/12 when five planets will be in this placement, and of course, that is enhanced with the Moon there to make the total six planets 2/09-11. You may have so many changes coming at you, with pressure to make decisions, when your nature is to first weigh all the options. So feeling vulnerable and at sea in this period is to be expected. “This, too, shall pass!”

LEOS: This is your 6th house of health issues, specifically the back, hips and intestines, plus it deals with mental health, i.e. worries and stress, plus enemies, rivals, competitors. While the Sun, which rules your chart, is in this pile up in Capricorn, just don’t expect to feel very good, comfortable or experience a lot going your way. Take care of your health and get enough rest.

AQUARIANS: These planets are piled up in your 12th house of loss, expenses and foreign travel – not much of that available in pandemic times. But it is also the house of Moksha, or final liberation, so spiritual development is the thing to work on now. Enjoy going inward through meditation and spiritual retreats, plenty of yoga and contemplating life in your usual philosophical style.

Back to our chronological listings of the planet changes through this month:

2/02 – Mercury goes COMBUST the Sun. It stays in this condition until 2/14. The effect is less tactfulness and diplomacy in conversation, with those ruled by this planet perhaps feeling a bit more on edge than usual, especially considering that Mercury is ALSO Retrograde: those with Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon signs. Keep in mind that even though Mercury goes Direct motion on 2/20, it will not move on into Aquarius again until 3/11.

2/04 – Mercury moves back into Capricorn (see above description).

2/09 – Saturn becomes non-combust the Sun, so those ruled by Saturn (Capricorns; Aquarians) will feel some relief.

2/11 – Jupiter now becomes non-combust the Sun, bringing more ease to the lives of those with Sagittarius and Pisces Rising and Moon signs, which this benefic planet rules.

2/12 – SUN enters Aquarius – a relief to the Capricorns (see earlier description). Much better for Leos, as the ruler of their chart is now crossing their house of travel, business, partners and marriage.

2/13 – VENUS becomes combust the Sun….not as comfortable for the Librans and Taureans, ruled by this benefic.

2/14 – Mercury goes non-combust. (a good thing!)

2/20 – BIG DAY – MERCURY gets out of Retrograde AND Venus enters Aquarius. This is very helpful to the Gemini Ascendants as Venus had been multiplying their vulnerabilities as it crossed their 8th house. Now it’s going to be in their BEST house, the 9th house of good luck, good fortune, dharma, natural law and pilgrimage. A welcomed change. Those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs will very much enjoy this transit as well. Venus is their Yogakaraka (best planet) bringing many benefits, such as more friends or interaction with friends now favorable, position real estate dealings possible and just more good luck, good fortune and feeling that they are now (finally) the right place at the right time. This placement also happens to represent good houses for both signs ruled by Venus, Libra and Taurus – enjoy your successes now!

2/21 – MARS enters TAURUS, after a long transit through its own sign Aries. Taureans may easily attract partners now, but also may be feeling more spiritual tendencies, while still having plenty of energy to get things done. Scorpio is also ruled by Mars. This placement is their 7th house of partners, business and travel, so they will enjoy movement in these arenas and will focus their powerful attention on one or more of these areas. It will stay in this sign until April 13th. (funny, I have one of my Scorpio Rising friends visiting me during that time, as she then travels on to another destination).

2021 NEW YEAR – January Blog. Mercury goes Retrograde

December 30, 2020

Ready for a new year? We feel like we are sprinting away from 2020, to welcome, with some trepidation, the new year of 2021, not really sure what to expect.

So let’s go through the planetary changes for January and see what these new influences are likely to bring.

MERCURY Let’s first just focus on what the planet of communication is doing this month and some of the implications of its movements.

1/01/21 – MERCURY goes combust the Sun. This means traveling too close for comfort to its friend, the fiery orb of our solar system. It stays in this condition until 1/12/21. During this period, conversations may hit some rough patches in which tact and diplomacy seem lacking (two of Mercury’s qualities). Misunderstandings can ensue. This is especially true for the signs ruled by Mercury, which are Gemini and Virgo.

1/04/21 – MERCURY moves into Capricorn, a friend’s sign. The practical, earthy influence of Capricorn means that the intellect and intelligence significations of Mercury will be employed in strategic, pragmatic ways now. This is mostly a positive transit for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon signs, as Mercury brings its 9th house energies to them, which include good luck, good fortune, dharma, natural law, and remedies. However, it also rules their 6th house of worry and health issues, so that influence could be primarily felt as some issues with nerves or skin, and having to face “competitors.” I still feel it will enhance the counseling ability of Capricorns, if properly used. This is the 8th house for Geminis, which is not the most comfortable placement for the lord of their charts. This house represents vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion, life and death. So it’s not likely that those with Gemini Ascendants or Moon signs will feel their strongest, but clearly not everyone with this rising sign is going to pass away during this transit! It is just an unsettling placement which they usually have to deal with about once a year. But it will be felt a little more intensely since this time it will be traveling with Saturn and Jupiter there. Virgos have the advantage, as this placement is their 5th house of success, education, children, learning ability and romance.

1/25/21 – MERCURY now enters Aquarius, an air sign associated with humanitarian qualities where Mercury feels comfortable, as this sign is also ruled by its friend Saturn, just as Capricorn is. The collective conversation should now move into more humanistic arenas, focusing on programs that help society at large. For those with Aquarian Rising or Moon signs, this is their 5th and 8th house ruler, bringing them success and enhancing learning ability, but also having to go through some changes, and some type of vulnerability. For Virgos, it is their 6th house, so the best use of this energy is to harness their logic to help counsel others with their problems. Otherwise, they could experience some stress or health issues themselves. For the Geminis, it is a relief to now have the ruler of their charts transiting their BEST house, the 9th house, bringing more good fortune and ease.

1/30/21 – MERCURY goes RETROGRADE – until 2/20/21. During this time things may appear to be “going backwards” in your life, or feelings of being misunderstood or miscommunications may occur.  ANYTHING that deals with communication may be affected, from my experience. From some big error on your bank statement, to telecommunications equipment, faxes, computers not working right, one must be prepared for glitches.  Be very vigilant if you plan to be preparing your income tax returns during this time. “Avert the danger before it arises” can be an apt phrase here for laying low through this time of frustration.  It’s not YOUR fault, and in many cases there’s not much you can do about it, so determine to ride the storm out. Geminis are advised to resort to their clever sense of humor to make it through those big waves. Virgos, also ruled by Mercury, should employ their practical logic and skills of deduction and not jump to conclusions.

What about the other planets? Yes, they are still moving through the Cosmos, radiating all that their natural energies imply.

We have three planets going into Combustion this month. Not just Mercury, but also SATURN on 1/07/21, and on 1/14/21, JUPITER. All that, and a Mercury Retrograde, too, beginning near the end of the month. Well then….patience is certainly going to be needed, and that may be in short supply. Let’s add in the pile up of planets in Capricorn and how intense that may feel. On 1/13/21, the Sun will move into this earth sign, joining the planets already there: Saturn, which is strong here, in its own sign; Jupiter, which is debilitated in this sign, yet receives Neechabhanga yoga (cancellation of debilitation – to a good degree) just from being conjunct with Saturn, plus Mercury. and the Moon will be there as well, from 1/13-15/21. Saturn and the Sun are “enemies” so their conjunction is a formula for intensity in and of itself. So there they are, milling all about, pulling ahead or getting behind each other by degrees, based on the speed of each of their movements. That is how we’ll have the Saturn combust period until 2/09/21, and that of Jupiter until 2/11/21. Combustion is a state that just does not allow a planet to feel comfortable enough to contribute its fullest gifts. Yes, we can note that some of this is going to be going on during the 1/20/21 Inauguration Day. There is certainly likely to be some public unrest, but on that day, the Moon will enter ARIES bright and early which is a positive position for both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

1/27/21 – VENUS enters Capricorn. It joins Saturn, Jupiter and the Sun, as those three planets will still be sitting there as Venus moves into this friend’s sign. It will be there until 2/20/21. This is the Yogakaraka (best planet) for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon sign charts. So this is a pleasant transit for our Capricorn friends, especially since Venus represents luxuries, pleasures, beauty, the Arts, music, and affection. This is also a good transit for the two signs ruled by Venus – Taurus and Libra. This is the 9th house for the Taureans, which brings support of Nature and good fortune. For the Librans, it is their 4th house of home, property, vehicles, friends, mother and maternal relatives, highlighting interaction with these areas of life in a fun way.

December 2020 Blog: Total Solar Eclipse 12/14

December 1, 2020

12/10 – Venus enters Scorpio. Here it adds magnetism to the already sexy charisma of those with Scorpio Ascendants or Moon signs, bringing out their affectionate nature in a more pronounced manner. Sparks will be flying and it is an easier time to attract partners now. For those whose charts are ruled by Venus, here’s the story: For Librans, this is their 2nd house, activating the arenas of communication, money and family ties. For the Taurus Rising and Moon signs, Venus will be crossing their 7th house of partners, marriage, business and travel, for an enjoyable experience.

12/14 – TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, in the sign of Scorpio. FIVE planets will be sitting in this water sign today: Mercury, Venus, the Sun, the Moon and Ketu (the south node of the Moon). Fortunately for us here in America, this eclipse is not visible in our country (in Vedic Astrology, eclipses are not seen as auspicious but rather the opposite, and not good to try and look at or be outside during the event). This total solar eclipse, the last eclipse of 2020, is visible from Chile and some parts of Argentina in the afternoon. Some regions in southern South America, south-west Africa, and Antarctica will see a partial solar eclipse, if the weather permits. For those of you who like to track these events, Mountain time (though not visible here) this eclipse begins at about 6:34 a.m. The maximum eclipse time is 9:13 a.m, and the entire eclipse will be over at 11:53 a.m. A very good website to track eclipses is: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse

To have the “light put out” of the luminary at the center of our solar system, even briefly, portends negative events to ensue some time within the next two weeks to one month, after the eclipse. How it affects those with Scorpio Rising or Moon sign, in a phrase, “that depends.” More spiritually developed Scorpios will use that time for going inward and possibly have deep insights, and break through long time patterns, especially if some sacred rituals are performed. Some feel that eclipses are a time when “The Veil is thinner” between dimensions. It is certainly better to focus on gaining deeper insights than the experiences some not as evolved Scorpios may experience: fears, giving in to addictions to combat insecurities, and the lack of personal power that can be experienced when their 10th house ruler (the house of power, name and fame) gets eclipsed.

Leo Ascendants and Moon sign individuals may be dealing with the loss of self confidence, friends or supports as this is their 4th house which governs these areas, and the Sun is the ruler of their charts. You may reflect on a specific person in a powerful position right now, who has this Rising sign. It will be interesting to see what befalls him on this day or shortly thereafter….

12/15 – The Sun moves into Sagittarius, getting away from the planet pile up in Scorpio. It will feel more comfortable here, as will the Leos, whose charts it rules. The Sag’s benefit by having their 9th house ruler (Good luck, and good fortune) now crossing their 1st house of self, body and the direction of their life.

12/16 – MERCURY enters Sagittarius late this night, joining its friend the Sun there. It is still traveling too close to this fiery orb, so remains in Combust the Sun status, which began on 11/24. This is a good house for Geminis, their 7th house of partners, travel and business. They will be in the mood to extend themselves to others. For the other sign ruled by Mercury, which is Virgo, this position represents their 4th house of home, property, happiness and self confidence, as well as vehicles. Those areas benefit from your attention now. It’s just the pesky combustion status that can bring some problems.

12/23 – MARS now goes into Aries, its own sign. Those ruled by Mars, Aries and Scorpio Rising and Moon signs, will feel energized by the competitive, masculine energy of this dynamic, action-oriented planet. There’s just no stopping them now, especially the Aries individuals. Try to avoid accidents due to speeding about too fast. This is the sign of new beginnings. Creative ideas get an influx of energy and a real productive flow of manifestation with this placement. Exciting times for many, after sitting around doing not much for so long!

Please keep in mind that my monthly transit report just skims the surface of the planetary energies affecting your lives right now. Your Dashas (personal planetary cycles) are “king” and the transits come second. It’s only through receiving a personal reading that the full picture can be revealed!

Vedic Astrology November Transits: Mercury and Mars Go Direct!

November 1, 2020

11/03 – MERCURY gets out of Retrograde! This happy event occurs at 10:46 a.m. Mountain Time. It has been a long three weeks, hasn’t it, with the planet that governs communication, tactfulness, diplomacy and commerce being in retrograde motion. Yes, this election day. By 12:46 p.m. Eastern time, communications and clarity of intellect (which Mercury also represents), should be clearer. Those with Rising or Moon signs by Mercury the Geminis and Virgos, will be especially relieved to once again have the sensation of life moving forward, with less glitches and misunderstandings as communications will no longer be so impacted (at least, until the next Mercury Retrograde period!)

11/13 – MARS gets out of retrograde today, at 5:31 p.m. Mountain time. It will continue to transit water sign Pisces though, until it marches forward all the way back into its own sign Aries, late on 12/23/20. This placement is the 5th house for Scorpios, ruled by this fiery planet, is just fine for studies, success, love affairs, teaching, and spending time with children. It has not been so easy on the other sign Mars rules, Aries. For Pisces is their 12th house of isolation, loss and expenses. Better times are coming, Aries friends! Just in time for Christmas eve day, when Mars moves on into Aries.

Part of the collective angst and sense of oppression on our consciousness has come from these recent retrogrades of Mars (since 9/09) and Mercury (since 10/13 – we also had to deal with Mercury being combust the Sun from 10/19 – 10/31). At least this has been an astrological contribution to the overall malaise that I sense and see most people have been experiencing. “This, too, shall pass,” as the planets keep moving through the zodiac, with their various effects on individual and national life and well-being.

11/15 – THE SUN enters Scorpio, where it will journey for a one month period. This is a friend’s sign for the Sun. Those with Scorpio Ascendants or Moon signs will enjoy the experience of personal power that the Sun brings now, because the Sun rules their 10th house of power, action, career, name and fame, and because the Sun itself represents power. Leo’s are ruled by the Sun. They will enjoy this placement in their 4th house, bringing a greater enjoyment of home life, a sense of comfort and closeness to friends now.

11/16 – VENUS, planet of love and beauty, comforts and desires, enters its own sign of Libra. This will make both Venus happy, as well as those with Libra Rising or Moon signs! For Venus rules Libra and it’s not been comfortable in its sign of debilitation, Virgo, since 10/22. And that is the 12th house of loss and expenses for the Librans. In this sign of Libra, it has more power to deliver the lovely things it stands for. It also rules the earth sign Taurus. Here, it will be transiting their 6th house, which could increase some worries or health concerns. The best use of this transit’s energy for Taureans, is to focus on being of service. It will next move to Scorpio on 12/10.

11/20 JUPITER moves into Capricorn, its sign of Debilitation. But the good news is, SATURN is already there, and in high dignity, owning that sign. Thus Jupiter gets treated to Neecha Bhanga yoga (cancellation of Debilitation – to a great degree anyway). Benefic Jupiter owns the signs of Sagittarius and Pisces. So now it will transit the 2nd house of wealth, family and speech for the Sag’s – a good placement, and since it also rules their 4th house, can bring them money from real estate. For the Pisceans, the lord of their chart will be crossing their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire, so they also benefit. It is just those with Capricorn rising or Moon signs who will have some mixed results. Jupiter owns their 3rd house, thus can now make them quite busy with projects and can bring a subtle type of courage and vitality. But it also brings the significations of its 12th house ownership to them as well, so they may feel a bit more withdrawn or isolated and may have to deal with some losses or expenses.

11/27 – MERCURY enters Scorpio. This causes the Virgos to be very busy with projects, while the Geminis may have to face some health or worry issues, as this is their 6th house. Scorpios will have some gain coming their way, as Mercury rules their 11th house, but it also governs their 8th house of Vulnerability and Transformation, thus this is a mixed bag transit for them. Mercury does again go Combust the Sun on 11/24.

11/30 – There will be a Full Moon Penumbral (partial) Lunar Eclipse, which will be at its point of fullness close to 2:00 a.m. Mountain time. This occurs in the sign of Taurus, in which the Moon is Exalted. It will also be sitting there with Exalted Rahu, creating some emotional disturbance.  We may see some power plays taking place now, possibly left over from election day, when the Moon was also Exalted in Taurus, conjunct Exalted Rahu, the north node of the Moon. This is the last penumbral lunar eclipse of 2020. Residents of North and South America, Australia, and parts of Asia might see a darker Full Moon during the maximum phase of this eclipse.

All the best, from the Sunshine Corner, here in Boulder, CO.
