May 2024 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

Welcome May, and welcome Jupiter’s entry into Earth sign Taurus on May 1st. The merry month of May should be much milder from an astrological perspective than April was. We are so glad that the eclipses are over, and Mercury is no longer retrograde or combust the Sun. April was a time of real trials and tribulation for many people I know.

May 1st – Benefic JUPITER entered Taurus, bringing interesting experiences to those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs. This may include gain, income and fulfillment of desires, since Jupiter owns their 11th house. But it also owns their 8th house of transformation, vulnerability, battles and “disunion” and knowledge of past and future. Since Jupiter brings such positive results, it’s most likely that the transformations will be good ones, and intuition will be strong now for the Taureans. Pisces is ruled by Jupiter. Taurus represents the 3rd house for those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs, so they are likely to become very involved with projects now and have good vitality during this transit. For Sagittarians, also ruled by Jupiter, this sign is their 6th house. The best way to use this energy is in counseling others. Otherwise internal stresses may get to our Sag friends, along with some delays and obstacles.

May 3rd – Jupiter becomes combust the Sun. This condition will last until June 2nd. When a planet is traveling too close to the Sun, it becomes “irritable” and not able to deliver its best results, so the Pisces and Sagittarius Rising and Moon signs will breathe a big sigh of relief when this phase is over.

May 10th until May 31st – MERCURY will be in Aries, making those with Aries Rising or Moon signs more communicative. They will also find their intellect stimulated now, with new creative ideas coming to mind. The two signs ruled by Mercury are Gemini and Virgo. For the Geminis, this is their 11th house of gain and income, so that’s a positive, supportive position for the ruler of their charts. For the Virgo Rising and Moon signs, Aries is their 8th house, so there are bound to be some changes and also some instances of feeling vulnerable during this transit.

May 14th – The SUN moves into Taurus. Leo Rising and Moon sign people are ruled by the Sun. They should enjoy a greater feeling of personal power and see their natural leadership abilities blossom during this one month transit of their 10th house of power, position, name and fame, career and action. Taurus Rising and Moon signs will also feel greater empowerment and it will be a good time for real estate endeavors for them if other factors in their individual birth charts support that.

May 18th – VENUS moves into Taurus, joining the Sun and Jupiter there. Taureans will enjoy having the ruler of their charts feeling powerful in its own sign, turning on the tap of greater creativity and they may enjoy some luxuries now. For Libras, also ruled by Venus, the sign of Taurus represents their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battle and disunion, knowledge of past and future. So at least it helps their intuition there, but they may not feel at their best, physically.

May 31st – MERCURY enters Taurus and remains there until June 14th, enhancing the “planet party” in Taurus now. Those with Taurus Rising and Moon signs will get good results with communication, including writing, and there will be fortunate finances, since Mercury rules their 2nd house. It also rules their 5th house of success and children, so they will enjoy blessings in so many valuable areas of life now.

April 2024 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

April is a big month of dramatic planetary and celestial events which bring an intense impact. In brief we have: Mercury going Retrograde 4/01 – 4/25/24! Mercury combust the Sun 4/03 – 4/18! Total Solar Eclipse 4/08/24! Mars/Saturn planetary war 4/10/24! In the Vedic Astrology tradition eclipses are not auspicious and not advisable to look at or be outside in the dimmed light of one of our luminaries of the solar system, the Moon or the Sun. The effects to life on Earth can be very calamitous, including events like the large boat crashing into that Baltimore bridge and bringing it down, with the resultant loss of life, and huge economic impact. Eclipses have an influence on events from two weeks before to two weeks after they occur, per Vedic Astrology. Some even say from one month before until one month afterwards. The partial lunar eclipse occurred late night 3/24 in the Pacific and Mountain times zones, and in the wee hours of 3/25 in the Central and Eastern time zones, and points east. So we are now in between the two eclipses, a dicey time at best. I’m seeing and hearing of various challenging events in the lives of my friends and clients. Time to be vigilant, observant of situations around you, and if unusual situations arise in your life, have the flexibility to turn on a dime, if needed.

4/01/24 – MERCURY goes retrograde prior to 5:00 p.m. MDT, in the sign of Aries. It will move backwards into the sign of Pisces on 4/09/24 during this retrograde period. It remains retrograde until 4/25/24. As usual, all the areas that are governed by Mercury get affected: communication, diplomacy, tactfulness, commerce, friendship, clear functioning of the intellect. The reason to pay attention to this period is to use this knowledge to consciously “rise above” the influences! One great value of Vedic Astrology is to “avert the danger before it arises.” Knowledge has liberating power.”

4/03 – 4/18/24 – MERCURY is combust the Sun. That means traveling too close to the fiery orb for comfort. A planet that is combust becomes irritable and not able to deliver good results in its spheres of influence, as described above. Just as with the retrograde period, those ruled by this planet are affected the most: Gemini and Virgo Ascendants and Moon sign birth chart people.

4/08/24 – TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE. This event occurs in the water sign Pisces. Those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs will feel the effects. Also Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, will be impacted, especially as this eclipse occurs in their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion. Leo Rising and Moon sign chart owners will not have access to their usual personal power and leadership qualities during this event, and as I discussed above, this influence can last from two weeks before until two weeks after the eclipse. Venus is in Pisces as of 3/31/24, which is its sign of Exaltation. It will bear witness to this eclipse, where Rahu the North Node of the Moon temporarily “swallows” the Sun.

4/10/24 – MARS and SATURN in planetary war on this day. These two planets are enemies. They are transiting the sign of Aquarius, owned by Saturn, which is strong and powerful there. Saturn has been in this air sign since 1/17/23 and remains there until 3/29/25. Mars joined him there on 3/15/24. It will move to the next sign, Pisces on 4/22/24. Mars will figuratively breathe a big sigh of relief to get out of an enemy’s sign and into a friend’s sign on that date! What is meant by planetary war on 4/10 is that these two planets will be at the exact same degree. It’s a very uncomfortable for each of them, and for those ruled by these planets. That includes Aries and Scorpio Rising or Moon signs for Mars, and Capricorn and Aquarius Rising or Moon signs for Saturn. There can be impacts in the environment and for society overall, not just for those with these Rising of Moon signs. People who work in the fields of law enforcement or the military can experience some grief or unfortunate violence, as Mars is a fiery planet that represents the energy of conflict, war, and surgery, or wounds. It’s a time to be cautious and take no unnecessary risks, please.

4/13/24 – The SUN enters Aries, its sign of Exaltation. This is helpful to those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, for the Sun rules their 5th house of success, bringing them positive energy. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, Aries is their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, remedies, pilgrimages, and Natural Law. Things should go a lot better for Leos than during the previous 30 days of the Sun crossing their 8th house transit, which includes the Total Solar eclipse!.

4/22/24 – MARS enters Pisces. There it joins malefic Rahu, Venus and retrograde Mercury. As mentioned above, Mars will be glad to move away from Saturn in Aquarius. Pisces is the 12th house for those with Aries Rising and Moon Sign charts. That is the house of loss, expenses, isolation or seclusion, and foreign travel. So Aries folks will need to watch their spending with all those planets now in their 12th house. It’s a good time to focus on spiritual growth. For Scorpios, who are also ruled by Mars, this placement is their 5th house of success, knowledge, learning ability, education, children and romance. So this four planet gathering there will be more lively and positive for them.

4/24/24 – VENUS moves into Aries. It joins Jupiter and the Sun there, bringing even more positive energy to the Aries Rising and Moon chart owners. They just have to watch for a puffed up ego that gets out of control at this point due to these planet influences! For the two signs ruled by Venus, for Taureans, this is their 12th house of losses, expenses, seclusion. For Librans, this is their 7th house of partners, business and travel. Thus, the Librans get to enjoy the positive energy of these 3 planets now positively influencing their life experiences.

March 2024 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

March is coming in like a lion! With plenty of winds in our state of Colorado. We’ll see what kind of storms the coming planetary conjunctions may stir up.

March 6th – MERCURY enters Pisces, its sign of debilitation, where it experiences some weakness. It will be conjunct with Rahu there, the North Node of the Moon. Still, this sign represents good houses for those ruled by Mercury. For Gemini Rising and Moon chart owners, it is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame. They could act with passion (Rahu) in arenas of interest to them. For those with Virgo Rising or Moon signs, it is their 7th house of business, partners and travel. This helps them to reach out more to partners and others, and put energy into their business ventures.

March 6th – VENUS enters Aquarius, joining Saturn and the Sun there. This represents the 10th house for those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs. There should be a rather lively time in their career now. Saturn is the best planet (Yogakaraka) for Taureans, so it should bring dignified work, but also requires them to work hard, and be of service. The Sun conjunct Saturn makes both planets uncomfortable, as their energies are an antithesis of one another. That may have been creating a bit of inner friction for Aquarians, and for Leos, since the Sun move there on February 13. Venus will be a positive influence, and bring in diverse, wide-ranging activities for Taureans with which to be involved. For the other sign ruled by Venus, Libra, this is their 5th house of romance, success, learning, intellect and children. Any of these areas may call those with Libra Rising or Moon signs to get involved now.

March 10 – Daylight Saving Times start – remember to set your clocks and watches back one hour! Yes, Spring forward….means losing an hour today.

March 14 – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, which it has been in since February 8th. This will be helpful for clearer communication in general, and of course, those ruled by Mercury will feel a greater sense of ease, those with Gemini and Virgo rising and Moon signs.

March 14 – The SUN moves into Pisces, joining Mercury and Rahu there. The Sun will be in this sign until April 13. This position is challenging for those with Leo Rising or Moon signs, for this is their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, “battles and disunion.” They may experience various unusual or chaotic events, with that Rahu conjunction, or even strange dreams. This is all building up to the total Solar Eclipse on April 8th! Those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs will also be feeling less of a flow than their normal mellow nature typically maintains. The Sun is their 6th house ruler, so can bring some stress and worry, on top of Rahu already being there for some time “seizing and letting go” which doesn’t lead to much peacefulness.

March 16 – SATURN gets out of combustion (traveling too close to the Sun) which condition it’s been in since February 11th. Capricorns and Aquarians, the two signs ruled by Saturn, will benefit and have a greater sense of moving forward now.

March 24/25 – Depending on your time zone, the penumbral (partial) Lunar eclipse occurs late in the night of the 24th or in the wee hours of the 25th. This eclipse occurs in the sign of Virgo, where it will be conjunct Ketu, the South Node of the Moon. As usual, I’m reminding everyone that it is not auspicious to view an eclipse or be outside during an eclipse of either of our solar system luminaries.

March 25 – MERCURY enters Aries, where it will be conjunct with benefic Jupiter. This will be a pleasant change after its time of being conjunct with malefic Rahu! For Virgos, Aries is their 8th house, so some changes are bound to occur, but Jupiter’s influence should help those to be primarily positive. For Geminis, the other sign ruled by Mercury, this is their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire, so it’s a positive transit for those with this Rising or Moon sign.

March 31 – VENUS enters Pisces, its sign of Exaltation! It joins the Sun and Rahu there. This should be an exciting, dynamic and fun time for those with Pisces Rising and Moon signs. Rahu brings passion, Venus makes Pisceans feel affectionate, creative and artistic now, and the Sun provides some degree of power. Taureans, ruled by Venus, will enjoy this 11th house transit – gain, income, fulfillment of desire, and they may acquire some items of beauty as well. Libras are also ruled by Venus, but for them this position is their 6th house of enemies, rivals, competitors, stress and worry. Hoping my Libra friends will utilize some meditative techniques to rise above whatever pressures they may feel during that transit.

APRIL will feature some major astrological events, starting with a Mercury Retrograde period beginning on the 1st, to the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th which occurs in the sign of Pisces and will be visible in the USA. Stay tuned to next month’s blog for those details!

February 2024 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

We made it through January! Now let’s see what February will bring, and I mean besides the cold weather continuing, as we examine what the planets are up to in Vedic Astrology.

2/01/24 – MERCURY moves into the sign of Capricorn, joining the Sun there. There will be a growing “planet pile up” in this earth sign, as February moves forward. Here Mercury is in a friend’s sign. The two signs ruled by Mercury are Gemini and Virgo. For Virgos, this transit will occur in their 5th house of education, learning ability, success in relative world projects, and children. Thus it is a positive placement for those with Virgo Rising or Moon signs. For Geminis, however, Capricorn is their 8th house of transformation, vulnerability, “battles,” knowledge of past and future, so it will create some challenges for our friends with Gemini Rising or Moon signs.

2/05/24 – MARS moves into Capricorn, its sign of Exaltation, where it is strongest. It joins the Sun and Mercury there, bringing in more energy and drive for those with Capricorn Rising and Moon signs. Real estate can be a hot focus for Capricorns now, as Mars stands for real estate for everyone and also rules Capricorns’ 4th house of real estate. It also rules their 11th house of gain and income. Go for it, Capricorns! You will have the drive, energy and courage to get so many things done now.

2/08/24 – MERCURY goes combust the Sun. This condition will last until 3/14/24. Traveling too close to the Sun causes agitation in a planet and makes it irritated and uncomfortable. This reflects in the lives of those with Gemini and Virgo Rising and Moon signs, which are ruled by Mercury. It can cause conversations or communications across the board to be a bit more tense and reactive, so we all need to think before we speak during this time!

2/11/24 – SATURN goes combust the Sun. That condition lasts until 3/16/24. Saturn and the Sun are not friends. As the Sun approaches closer and closer to Saturn, the latter’s style will be cramped, and we may see the worst end of Saturn’s significations showing up….grief, obstacles, slow progress would be some of them.

2/11/24 – VENUS enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign, where it will remain until 3/06/24. Now we’ll have FOUR planets in this sign. Party on, Sun, Mercury, Mars and Venus! It should be a very lively, creative and possibly romantic time for those with Capricorn Rising and Moon signs. This is the best house (9th) for those with Taurus Rising. It’s the 4th house for Libras, the other sign ruled by Venus. Those with Ascendants or Moons in either of these signs will benefit from this transit.

2/13/24 – The SUN moves into Aquarius. This sign is owned by Saturn, just as Capricorn is. Saturn has already been transiting this sign for a year (since 1/17/23). This conjunction will not be comfortable for either Saturn or the Sun, since they are planetary enemies. Saturn is the slowest moving planet, whereas the Sun only takes a month to go through a sign. As it bears down ever closer to Saturn, the time will come during this transit where Saturn will become completely combust the Sun! And thus rendered virtually powerless. They will be at the exact same degree on 2/27/24. Be careful then, friends with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs. Another interesting point is that the Sun rules the 7th house for Aquarians, and Aquarius is the 7th house for Leos. That is the house of partners. So whereas this transit may attract partners for those with either of those Rising or Moon signs, it may be full of drama and obstacles, not the easiness and comfort that we would wish for them.

2/19/24 – Mercury moves into Aquarius, until 3/06/24. As you can see, the planet pile up has started moving out of Capricorn and into Aquarius. This is the 2nd house of wealth, family and speech for Capricorns so those areas will become more activated and positive now (except when Saturn becomes totally combust the Sun – see above). For Geminis, the ruler of their chart will now be in their best house (9th) of good luck, good fortune, Dharma, destiny, natural law and remedies. It will be in the 6th house for those with Virgo Rising or Moons signs, which is the house of worry, stress and health issues. For those working in a medical or legal field, this could actually bring them more clients now.

January 2024 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Everyone! Let’s see what the planets have in store for the first month of 2024. Wishing you all much success, perfect health, prosperity and great happiness. As we start the year, Saturn remains strong in its own sign of Aquarius. Jupiter is still in a friend’s sign, in Aries, and happy to have Rahu off its back (Rahu moved into Pisces on 11/28/23, while Ketu moved into Virgo on that date, and they will remain in those signs for an 18 months transit). Jupiter will enter Taurus on 5/01/24. Those are the slower moving planets. Here’s what the other planets are doing in January.

1/01/24 – MERCURY Goes Direct tonight, after being in Retrograde motion since 12/13/23. This will be a good start to the year, for greater clarity in personal communication, commerce, tactfulness and diplomacy. Those with Gemini and Virgo Rising or Moon signs will benefit the most, as events and projects can more easily move forward now and efforts should pay off with greater success.

1/01/24 MARS becomes combust the Sun. It will be traveling close enough to the Sun to feel some of its qualities become a bit “singed.” On the plus side, Mars represents courage, action, initiative, and ambition. But when it is in not as good a condition, the angry, impatient and quarrelsome side of Mars can emerge. Those most effected are the Scorpio and Aries Rising and Moon signs, since those signs are ruled by Mars. This combust condition for Mars will remain until 1/16/24.

1/07/24 – MERCURY enters the sign of Sagittarius, where it will remain until 2/01/24. This is a good position for both signs ruled by Mercury. For Geminis, this is their 7th house of partners, business and travel. For Virgos, it is their 4th house of friends, home, real estate and vehicles. For those with Sagittarius Rising or Moon signs, they should feel very active with their 10th house ruler crossing their first house, and easily attract partners, since Mercury is also their 7th house ruler. Plus they will feel very talkative, curious and friendly!

1/14/24 – The SUN enters Capricorn. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, this sign represents their 6th house of obstacles, delays, enemies, rivals, competitors and health issues, so this one month transit is usually not their best. For those with Capricorn Rising or Moon signs, the Sun is their 8th house ruler, so it can bring vulnerability and uncomfortable changes to them.

1/18/24 VENUS joins Mercury and Mars in Sagittarius, bringing lots of fun and playfulness to those with this Rising or Moon sign. For Libras, ruled by Venus, it will now be sitting in their 3rd house, enlivening their creativity and possibly helping them to feel closer to siblings. Shorter journeys are possible. For Taureans, also ruled by Venus, this is their 8th house of vulnerability and transformation. Any time this 8th house transit is taking place, those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs need to be careful with their health. Venus remains in this sign until 2/11/24.

December 2023 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

It’s the last month of the year now! How’s everyone doing? Especially since the powerful Full Moon on November 27th, in its sign of Exaltation, Taurus. Across the Zodiac were the Sun and Mars, in conjunction. The other even bigger shift just occurred on November 28th when the Nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, moved to different signs. This transit timing reflects the True Node system. Rahu is now situated in the water sign Pisces, and Ketu is in Virgo, for the next 18 months. Jupiter remains in Aries, and now is free of the Rahu conjunction that was going on for some time. Rahu “seizes and lets go” bringing sudden changes, and often some chaos, so those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs may get a dose of that. Ketu represents hindrance and degradation, and may affect those with Virgo Rising or Moon signs in that fashion. At least Jupiter is free of that energy. Anyone who is currently running either a Rahu or Ketu Maha Dasha (major personal planetary cycle) will be impacted more.

12/13 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! Yes, once again. This one lasts the usual three weeks, until 1/01/24. This time Mercury is in the sign of Sagittarius. Mercury rules all types of communication, including listening, speaking, learning, reading, editing, researching, negotiating, selling, and buying. Mercury also rules all formal contracts and agreements. You can find even any type of communication equipment breaking down, jamming, messing up in various ways during this cycle, and of course, interpersonal verbal misunderstandings. Since Mercury also governs tactfulness, diplomacy and friendship, let’s take care to be more mindful than ever of choosing the highest level of these qualities during this time. A retrograde period can also be a time to revisit and finally resolve situations that one thought were already finished, but something may have been left to take care of.

12/16 – Mercury becomes combust the Sun. This period in which Mercury travels too close to the Sun for comfort lasts until 12/27. Communications can get a little testy during this period.

12/16 – The SUN enters fire sign Sagittarius for a one month transit. This is a friend’s sign for the Sun. Leos are ruled by the Sun, and this should be a positive transit for them, as it is their 5th house of education, learning ability, inclinations of the mind, children, success in the world and love affairs. Any of these areas could become enlivened for those with Leo Rising or Moon signs during this cycle.

12/24 – VENUS now enters Scorpio, joining Mars there. Venus brings good energy of affection, love, creativity and closeness with partner to those with Scorpio Rising or Moon signs. It’s also a good transit for those ruled by Venus: for Taureans it is their 7th house of partners, business and travel. For Librans it is their 2nd house of family, wealth and communication. These respective areas become highlighted for those with Taurus or Libra Rising or Moon signs. Venus remains in this sign until 1/18/24.

12/26 – Full Moon in Gemini. The Moon brings greater communication, good finances and public interaction for those with Gemini Rising and Moon signs. For those ruled by the Moon, Cancerians, this position is their 12th house, so it could be a more inward, spiritual reflection time.

12/27: Three events: – 1. Mercury becomes non-combust, which is a positive change, of course. 2. Mercury retrogrades back into the sign of Scorpio. More focus on communication for those with Scorpio Rising or Moon Signs. 3. Mars enters Sagittarius. Greater focus, energy, ambition and drive manifest for Sagit. Rising and Moon sign folks. This is a good transit for Aries Rising and Moon sign charts, as Sagit. is their 9th, best house, of good luck, fortune, higher education Natural Law, Dharma and basically landing on their feet!

12/30 – Benefic JUPITER goes direct motion after being Retrograde since 9/4/23. This enhances progress for those ruled by Jupiter: Sagittarius and Pisces Rising and Moon signs. November 2023 Planet Transits in Vedic Astrology

The big news of the month is that the lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu are changing signs! On November 28, Rahu moves into Pisces and Ketu moves into Virgo. The nodes move in the opposite direction of the other planets, so they are moving backwards through the sidereal zodiac. For those who follow the “Mean Node” system, the date of this sign change was October 30, but I’m using the “True Node” system, so November 28th is the move date. They will stay in their new signs for 18 months. The chaos, confusion, and hindrance the nodes often bring, well that energy now goes to those with either Pisces Rising or natal Moon signs, or Virgo Rising or natal Moon signs. There is a greater impact if one is running a Rahu or Ketu Maha Dasha (personal planetary cycle).

November 2nd – VENUS enters Virgo. This great benefic planet is debilitated in this sign, but can still bring good energy and financial gain to those with Virgo Rising or Moon signs. It’s a good placement for Taureans, ruled by Venus, as it is their 5th house of success, education, learning ability, children and love affairs. For Librans, also ruled by Venus, it is not as good, for this placement is their 12th house of loss and expenses, and they may perhaps feel some isolation.

November 4th – SATURN goes direct, after being in retrograde motion for months. This will be a boost for those with Capricorn Rising and Moon signs, as well as those with Aquarius Rising and Moon signs. Saturn has been in Aquarius for some time, and it’s happy there, as it owns this sign, as well as the sign of Capricorn. Retrograde is the appearance of “going backwards”- now there can be more progress for our Capricorn and Aquarius friends. There can also be more progress now for workers and anyone working in a service arena.

November 6th – MERCURY enters water sign Scorpio. Mercury will move pretty fast through this sign and on November 25th it enters Sagittarius. Mercury gets out of combustion (too close to the Sun) on November 13th. Those ruled by Mercury are Geminis and Virgos. While it is in Scorpio, the Virgos will feel pulled to accomplish many projects, and work with their hands, as this is their 3rd house. For Geminis, Scorpio is their 6th house, so obstacles, stress and health issues may arise. It’s not as much fun for them as the next transit will be. Mercury in Sagittarius is the 7th house for Geminis, connecting them more closely to partners, business and travel. For Virgos that transit is their 4th house, so they will feel like enjoying the comforts of home more now, and closeness with friends.

November 15th – The SUN enters Scorpio, where it is in a friend’s sign, after exiting Libra, its sign of Debilitation. So now the Sun regains some strength, and brings power to those with Scorpio Rising and Moon signs, since it rules their 10th house of power, career, status, name and fame. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, this placement is their 4th house of friends, home, vehicles and comforts, so all these areas will have the spotlight on them for our Leo friends.

November 28th – RAHU and KETU move into Pisces and Virgo, respectively. See paragraph one above. Keep in mind that Vedic Astrology offers “remedies” for challenging planetary situations, including Yagyas, time-tested rituals to move some of the challenging energy away from the chart owners.

November 29th – VENUS moves into Libra, its own sign where it will be strong and happy, bringing many gifts to those with Libra Rising or Moon signs. Venus represents beauty, music, art, and good social behavior. Librans’ natural graceful qualities will get a boost here. For Taureans, also ruled by Venus, this is their 6th house, so there could be some stress, worry and obstacles during this transit. The best use of a 6th house transit is to be of service to others.

October 2023 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

Welcome, October! A dramatic month astrologically, with both a Solar and Lunar Eclipse, which we shall discuss.

October 1st is a big day of changes: MERCURY goes Combust the Sun, so be alert to avoid angry or irritated speech or any type of strained communication. Also today, MERCURY enters VIRGO and remains there until October 18th. This transit is a big improvement for Virgo Rising and Moon chart people, as it is very strong in its own sign here and will be in their 1st house of self, body, and direction of one’s life, and of value to communications across the board for everyone. For Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, this is their 4th house of friends, self confidence, home, vehicles, etc. so all these areas are strengthened and fortified by this positive transit.

On October 1st, VENUS also moves – into the sign of Leo, bringing its creative, charming, loving and affectionate energy to those with Leo Rising and Moon signs. For the two signs ruled by Venus, Taurus and Libra, this is a positive placement. For Taurus, Leo is their 4th house, which helps them have warm connections with friends and supporters, and put energy into beautifying their homes, etc. For Libra Ascendants and Moon sign people, this is an 11th house transit, which features, gain and income, gain of any item and fulfillment of desires.

October 3rd – MARS moves into Libra. Mars represents energy, courage, initiative, and action, but in its lower frequency, also represents anger, impatience, irritability and quarrelsomeness. Libras love balance, peace and harmony, so be aware of the energies that Mars is bringing you, and you can harness and use those higher frequencies. Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio. For those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, Libra is their 7th house of marriage, business partners, and travel, so their attention and focus can be on any of those areas now. For the Scorpio Rising or Moon sign people, this transit is their 12th house of loss, expenses, seclusion or foreign travel. One of my good Scorpio friends will be enjoying the latter option during this transit!

October 14th – SOLAR ECLIPSE! This will occur while the Sun is in the sign of Virgo. This is an annular solar eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. This annular solar eclipse will cross North, Central, and South America. It will be visible in parts of the United States, Mexico, and many countries in South and Central America. It’s never a good thing when the light of one of the luminaries (Sun or Moon) in our solar system is dimmed by an eclipse. In Vedic Astrology, one or the other of the Nodes of the Moon, in this case Ketu, the south node of the Moon, is trying to “swallow” the Sun. Leos are ruled by the Sun, those with Leo Rising or Moon signs may feel the impact the most. It occurs in their 2nd house of family, wealth and speech, so those areas of their lives could be impacted the most. Virgos also should be alert at this time, as the Sun is their 12th house ruler, crossing their first house of self.

October 17th – The SUN moves into Libra and will remain there for a month. This is its sign of debilitation, so it is weakest here. There are certainly advantages for those of us born with the Sun in Libra, as it brings with it the desire to be a “peacemaker” which is good, as long as we don’t “bend over backwards” to make peace in every situation! The Sun owns the 11th house of gain and income for Libras, so can bring positive gifts at this time to those born with either Libra Rising or Moon signs. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, this is their 3rd house. They should have good energy and vitality to apply to various projects, or may feel closer to a sibling now.

October 18th – MERCURY enters Libra. Here it is in a friend’s sign, so will feel comfortable, and able to bring the gift of gab to those with Libra Rising or Moon signs, as well as a time of being friendly, tactful, good diplomacy and wittiness. Mercury rules both their 9th and 12th houses, so there could be more spending than they had planned on, but also can be a valuable spiritual time of growth. For Virgos, ruled by Mercury, this is helpful for communication, writing and cash flow. For Geminis, ruled by Mercury, it is their 5th house of children, supporting good interactions or quality time with children, plus a good time for learning new things, and success in general.

October 28th – LUNAR ECLIPSE – Penumbral eclipse ends at 22:26 UTC on October 28 (6:26 p.m. EDT). Duration of eclipse: This is a shallow partial lunar eclipse with a duration of 265 minutes. Note: Although this is considered a partial lunar eclipse, only a small fraction of the moon will enter the umbra shadow. It will be visible from the following geographic regions: eastern Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia. Cancerians are ruled by the Moon, so those with Cancer Rising or Moon signs may feel this the most, and be more sensitive than usual during this celestial event.

September 2023 Vedic Astrology Transits

As this new month starts, let’s remember that no less than THREE planets are still retrograde (Mercury, Saturn, and Venus), and Mercury is combust the Sun now, too. The good news is that VENUS gets out of retrograde on September 3rd, but the very next day, JUPITER goes retrograde!

Sept. 3rd – VENUS has been transiting water sign Cancer and has been retrograde motion for some time. It goes Direct today. This helps those ruled by benefic Venus, Taurus and Libra Rising or Moon signs, to experience more progress in their goals and actions. Venus will remain in the sign of Cancer until October 1st, when it moves into Leo.

Sept. 4th – JUPITER goes retrograde. It will not go Direct motion until December 30th. When a benefic planet such as Jupiter is in retrograde status, it actually strengthens its positive qualities. Sagittarians and Pisceans are ruled by Jupiter, so they will benefit from this new status. However, we can’t forget that it is still going to be traveling conjunct with Rahu, a troublesome malefic, whose nature is to “seize and let go.” I’m excited to give you a peek ahead – Rahu and Ketu move on November 28th. They only change signs every 18 months. Rahu will enter Pisces and Ketu will enter Virgo. These Nodes of the Moon always travel backwards, compared to the direction of the other planets. We’ll discuss this big change more in my November blog.

Sept. 13th – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, a positive change.

Sept. 15th – MERCURY goes Direct. These two events are positive, especially for those ruled by Mercury, those with Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs. Of course, it is beneficial for communication overall, for everyone, when Mercury is free of these afflictions.

Sept. 17th – the SUN enters Virgo. Leos are ruled by the Sun, so this transit represents their second house of wealth, speech and family, so it’s a positive transit for them, in those areas. For Virgos, this means their 12th ruler will be crossing their first house of self, body and personality now. They may feel more inward, and able to focus on spiritual matters now. But the Sun will bring them energy as well.

Sept. 24 – MARS goes combust the Sun. This condition creates frustration, irritability and impatience in the planet so affected. Therefore those ruled by Mars, Aries and Scorpio Rising and Moon signs, may experience those emotions,

August 2023 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

We start this month with a Full Moon in Capricorn today! Those with Capricorn Rising or natal Moon signs may find it easier to get the attention of partners now. Cancers are ruled by the Moon so this placement is their 7th house of partners, and they may feel to extend themselves to partners now. Both signs may find themselves feeling overly emotional right now.

8/6/23 – VENUS retrogrades back out of Leo and into water sign Cancer. It’s the Cancer Rising and Moon sign folks’ turn now to feel more creative and affectionate. Ruling their 4th and 11th houses, Venus can serve to attract friends and income to them now. For Taureans, ruled by Venus, this is their 3rd house of projects. Expect to be plenty busy and use that creativity for writing or artwork. For Librans, also ruled by Venus, Cancer is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame, so it is a positive transit for them as well.

8/8/23 – VENUS becomes combust the Sun and will remain in that condition until 8/18. Those with Taurus or Libra Rising or Moon signs may feel a little more short-tempered, impatient and irritable than normal.

8/17/23 – The SUN moves into LEO, its own sign, so it will be powerful. For those with Leo Rising or Moon signs, they could become a bit too puffed up in terms of pride and ego for this 30-day period. Leadership qualities will be at the forefront for Leos who manage to stay balanced.

8/18/23 – MARS moves into earth sign Virgo now. Those with Virgo Rising or Moon sign may feel more ambitious and ready to take initiative now, for Mars represents courage and also rules their 3rd house of vitality and projects. But it also rules their 8th house of vulnerability, so they will need to be careful about getting overheated, including keeping their tempers cool! Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio. For Aries, this transit puts the ruler of their chart into their 6th house of stress, worry and health problems, so we urge them to try and pace themselves and avoid making situations worse. For Scorpios, this transit is positive, as their chart ruler will be going through their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire.

8/23/23 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! Yes, one more time. This will last until 9/15/23. Mercury will be transiting the sign of Leo when this retrograde period begins. Leo is the 12th house of loss and expenses, plus isolation or solitude for those with Virgo Rising or natal Moon signs. Some attention may need to be paid to bills you thought were already handled. Retrograde planets always indicate a time in which situations may appear to be stalled or “going backwards.” Sometimes it is helpful to re-examine situations and perhaps opt for a wiser course of action. For Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, Leo is their 3rd house of vitality, projects, siblings and shorter journeys. Geminis may put energy into finishing projects that require attention to detail now, and their vitality should be strong enough to help them be successful in their endeavors.

8/30/23 – A Blue Moon! That is, the second Full Moon in the same month. This time the Moon will be in the sign of Aquarius, conjunct with Saturn. For Cancerians, this 8th house transit of the ruler of their charts can bring some changes or feelings of vulnerability. For those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs, there may be a tendency to worry with their 6th house ruler now transiting their first house of self and body. They may not feel at their best, plus they could be feeling a bit too serious anyway, since Saturn has been in their sign for some time. And as we know, Full Moons can bring strong or intense moods in a wide variety of people.

8/30/12 – ALSO! Mars becomes combust, i. e. traveling too close to the Sun. Those with Scorpio or Aries Rising or Moon signs need to be mindful of having a quick trigger on their temper, impatience or irritability levels now.
