August Planet Blog. Mercury Direct Now

August 1, 2019

Greetings, Star Followers! What a relief August should be, after the intense planet dance of July. Mercury just got out of Retrograde, the night of July 31st. Are you noticing that communications have improved already?

August 2 – PLANET PILE UP IN CANCER.  This movable water sign has been hosting Mars, the Sun and Venus. Now MERCURY moves in to join the party.  Mercury had briefly backed up into its own sign of Gemini for a couple of days, while it was still in retrograde motion. It was there about 48 hours, from late July 30 and moves to Cancer in the evening of August 2.  The planets crossing the sensitive sign of Cancer are doing mostly good things, from increasing financial gain to adding to the love of beauty, music and the arts, and possibly bringing in some romance, to increased communication, conversation and writing skills.

The signs ruled by Mercury are Gemini and Virgo. Both benefit from this transit, as it increases income for those with Virgo Ascendants and Moon signs, while increasing the Geminis’ already ample talents of connecting with others through conversation.  Very nice. Enjoy, Mercury-ruled friends!

August 8 – MARS moves out of its sign of Debilitation into Leo, which is a friend’s sign for this energetic planet.  Leos benefit now from more drive, ambition and courage (just need to watch out for hasty actions, impatience or some irritability). Cancers benefit to have less “heat” going on in their 1st house of self, body and personality. Mars is actually their BEST planet (as it is for the Leos), so they will enjoy benefits that can show up now in the form of funds that can be banked.  Aries and Scorpios are ruled by Mars. This transit is beneficial for both of these signs and those with either sign as their natal Rising or Moon signs, will enjoy the following: For Aries, this transit stimulates their desire to learn, teach, have success in speculative matters, or romance. For Scorpios, this is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame. Mars helps blast through obstacles here, and the Scorpios can go full steam ahead. Which they like, of course.

August 11 – JUPITER GOES DIRECT!! This is great news, as finally this benefic planet gets out of retrograde motion, where it has been since April 10, 2019.  Both Sagittarius and Pisces are ruled by Jupiter, so those with this Rising or Moon sign, will benefit and start to feel some happy progress in their goals and plans, which may have been bogged down for the past four months. Yea, team!  Jupiter has been traveling through the friendly sign of Scorpio for some time, and it will continue to bring blessings to those with this water sign Rising or Moon sign until it moves into its own sign of Sagittarius on November 4th.

August 15 – FULL MOON in Capricorn. This full moon occurs in the late degrees of this earth sign, just a little before 7:00 a.m. MDT, and then it moves into the next sign, Aquarius, just a little before 10:00 a.m. MDT. The brightness of the full Moon’s rays, with Capricorn behind it in the zodiac, displaying the qualities of practicality, and an earthy stability that is comforting to emotional Cancer, the sign ruled by the Moon. It is the 7th house for Cancerians, highlighting travel and partners.

August 16 – VENUS enters LEO. Those with Leo Rising or Moon signs, will continue to feel quite energized, since Venus rules their 3rd house of vitality and their 10th house of action and career. There’s nearly no stopping them now, and it’s a great time to enjoy some artistic pursuits, including photography.  The mix of Mars and Venus can serve to make Leos feel sexy, attractive and magnetic now.

August 17 – The SUN enters Leo, its own sign.  It joins its friend Mars there, plus Venus, but both of them will be Combust (traveling too close for comfort) the Sun. Mars plus Sun in Leo brings an excess of Pitta Dosha (for those of you who follow Ayurveda), i.e. too much heat. Beware the Leo temper, those of you who have to be around them now! Best for them to channel their strong leadership energy into projects at this time. They will feel strong and empowered, and more like themselves with the ruler of their charts sitting right there, if they can keep that Pitta “heat” under control (and possibly a tendency to be a bit “bossy” now!)

August 20 – Mercury goes Combust the Sun. This condition lasts until September 21. It causes the qualities of Mercury to be overshadowed. This shows up as lack of clarity in communications and affects communication devices, too (not as much as Mercury Retrograde does, though), less tactfulness and diplomacy when dealing with others and misunderstandings in the arena of commerce are possible.

August 25 – Mercury enters Leo, joining the Sun, Mars and Venus in this fire sign. Thus we see that the same party of planets that were earlier in the sign of Cancer, have now all moved onto Leo. This is primarily good news for those with Leo Rising and Moon signs. They will feel outgoing, more social,  and enjoy all the attention they will be receiving.

Please don’t feel left out, Capricorns and Aquarians! Your day will come. Here’s a preview of a positive change: Saturn goes Direct motion, getting out of its long period of being Retrograde on September 18th. You know by now that the ruler of your chart is the slowest moving planet, don’t you?

As usual, please keep in mind that in this short Blog, I can only lightly touch on the effects of each transit. To fully understand how these shifts will affect you, please call me for a reading.

The Planets of August, 2018: We Start the Month With 3 Planets in Retrograde Status

August 7, 2018

AUGUST 2018 – I am creating this Blog post a week late. Will I blame it on the retrograde planets? You bet I will! (plus a residence move a few days ago). We start this month with three planets in retrograde motion: Mars, Saturn and Mercury – and the latter is also combust the Sun. Thus do not be surprised at experiencing challenges, delays and unexpected obstacles.  Plus, not to forget, we are still recovering from the one-two punch last month of the partial solar eclipse, and total lunar eclipse. It’s a real “planet soup” of intense energies right now for us as individuals, society and the planet.

August 1st – VENUS, great benefic, symbolizing beauty, art, music, comforts and partners, entered Virgo, its sign of Debilitation.  It remains there until September 1st.  Ironically, Venus brings some helpful financial gains to those with Virgo Ascendants or Moon signs, due to the houses it rules for them, even though its energy is weakest when it is debilitated in that sign.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra. It’s a good house placement for those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs in their natal charts, for this is their 5th house of children, success, learning ability and romance. It’s more challenging for the Libras, as Virgo represents their 12th house of loss and expenses, solitude and isolation.

August 1st – MERCURY began traveling too close for comfort to the Sun this day, bringing more edginess to the field of communication in general (and that, added to the fact that this planet is in retrograde now, until August 18th). As usual, those with Virgo or Gemini Rising of Moon signs will feel it the most, as Mercury rules their sign. In addition to communication and any equipment that deals with same, Mercury represents commerce and trade, as well as diplomacy and tactfulness.  All of these qualities will be strained and frayed at the edges during this time. Mercury gets out of combustion on August 16th.

August 11th – Partial solar eclipse in the sign of Cancer.  Those who may feel it the most are the Cancer and Leo Rising and Moon sign people. Once again, we are fortunate that it will NOT be visible in the USA, so the influence will not have as big of an impact on us here. The eclipse will start out over the North Atlantic Ocean and Greenland, moving north and east so that the shadow simultaneously moves toward Iceland, northern Europe and the northern polar regions. Continuing its path over the top of the planet, the shadow will be wide enough to cover most of northern Russia from east to west. It will then dip down into Mongolia, China and surrounding areas.

August 16th – The SUN enters Leo, its own sign, where it is strong and powerful. Those with Leo Rising or Moon signs, will benefit from this strengthening of the ruler of their charts. However, it can contribute to both their leadership qualities AND being a bit top-heavy on ego or arrogance during this one month transit. Cancer chart individuals benefit from having their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication strengthened. Cancerians have already had enough to put up with rough and volatile Rahu crossing their sign since September 9, 2017. And Rahu and Ketu do not change signs until March 23, 2019, so both Cancers and Capricorns have to dig in and just “handle it” until the nodes leave their respective signs. Remember that there are planetary “yagyas” – ancient Vedic remedies, to allieviate the intensity you may be feeling. Just contact me for some references to these services, which I enjoy utilizing myself.

August 27th – MARS goes direct motion. Well, that’s a step in the right direction.  Remember that Mars has been crossing Capricorn, its sign of exaltation, which would be great for Capricorn Rising and Moon sign people, were it not for the fact that malefic Ketu (south node of the Moon) is also traveling there with it.  Now Mars will march forward once more, but does not change signs and thus get away from Ketu’s hindering influence until November 5th. Otherwise, the Capricorns would enjoy the burst of drive, energy, courage, clarity and initiative that Mars is trying to bring them, as well as some good karma with real estate. There will still be some of those benefits to a good degree. It’s just that Ketu hinders or degrades otherwise promising situations.

Please refer to my last month’s blog to review the significance of retrograde planets and eclipses.

June Planets: All About Saturn as it Backs Up Into Scorpio

May 29, 2017

June is a month with some significant planet changes in their various transits around the fixed Zodiac, which is the system utilized by Vedic Astrology. We will explore here especially, the movements of two of the slower moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn. Going in order of the changes this month:

June 3 – MERCURY enters Taurus.  Here it is in a friend’s sign. This is an improvement for Virgo, one of the two signs that Mercury governs, as here Mercury is in the Virgos’ 9th house of good luck, good fortune and dharma.  It is not as good of a placement for the other sign ruled by Mercury, which is Gemini. For this sign, Taurus represents the 12th house,  thus it connects the Geminis with either foreign travel, loss and expenses, “bed pleasures,” or the desire to go inward and perhaps take some down time, alone. Feelings of isolation may occur. This would be an excellent time to attend a meditation retreat.

June 9 – The Full Moon occurs in water sign Scorpio, which is a friend’s sign, for the Moon. Those ruled by Moon, i.e. the sign of Cancer, should be feeling romantic or inquisitive at this time, as this represents their 5th house.  However, the Moon in this sign of its debilitation may bring on more emotional sensitivity than usual.

June 9 – That same day, MERCURY goes into combustion with the Sun, and this condition will last until July 3, creating a bit more tension in communications for many, in general. Especially the Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon sign people will feel the effects, which may cause some irritability or impatience in their interactions with others.

June 9 –  JUPITER gets out of retrograde and goes direct motion now!  There can be a greater sense of progress and moving forward by, especially by the two signs ruled by this great benefic, Sagittarius and Pisces.  Jupiter first went retrograde on February 5 (the 6th, in most of the country), so this will be an exciting and positive shift. Jupiter represents happiness, good judgment, good luck, good fortune and knowledge. These qualities can now be more in the forefront in the collective consciousness.

June 14 – The SUN enters air sign Gemini, bringing some energy and productivity to the Gemini Ascendants and Moon sign folks. It is also a positive placement for those ruled by the Sun, the Leos among us, for the lord of their chart will be passing through their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire. Nice.

June 18 – MERCURY enters Gemini, its own sign. Here it is happy and strong, bringing greater clarity to the collective intellect. Geminis should sign now. It’s also great for the Virgo Rising and Moon signs, as the ruler of their chart now crosses through their 10th house of action, career, name and fame.

June 20 – SATURN retrogrades all the way back into Scorpio!  Now we can get into the nitty-gritty of our slowest-moving planet. It takes 2.5 years for Saturn to change signs.  Saturn entered fire sign Sagittarius on January 26, but then it started this retrograde dance on April 5.  It continues to back up into the sign it had been in for over two years already, SCORPIO.  Thus the Scorpio rising and Moon sign folks get a little “bonus Saturn.  Though Saturn goes direct motion on August 25, it does not re-enter Sagittarius until October 26.

This period will be most noticeable by the two signs ruled by Saturn, which are Capricorn and Aquarius. Scorpio represents good houses for both of these signs.  For Capricorns, it is their 11th house of gain and income. For Aquarians, this their 10th house of career, action, name and fame.

For Scorpios, Saturn rules their 3rd and 4th houses, which isn’t so bad, as influences go. However, Saturn in its own right, represents grief, depression, obstacles, separation, hard work, service, and humility. Expect to experience one or more of these influences during those four months from June 20 until October 26.  A retrograde time always gives those affected an opportunity to revisit and finalize some things that were not completed and finished satisfactorily in the prior passage over this sign.

Although the “Sags” will experience a brief respite from the sometimes heavy pressures of Saturn’s passage there, bringing some relief for those four months.  Then they will get their turn again, when Saturn re-enters this sign on October 26 for the next 2.5 years period.  Owning their 2nd house of wealth, and 3rd house of self-efforts, as long as they are willing to work hard, stay organized and focused this transit does not have to be so bad.  Unless you have your Moon there.

This brings us to the subject of Sadhe Sati. This is a 7.5 year transit which each of us experience every 28 years (the first one in life depends on where one’s Moon and Saturn were at the time of birth).  Saturn spends 2.5 years in the house before the Moon, then smack dab on the Moon, and then the 2nd house to the Moon. This cycle can really cause us to become a lot more philosophical and detached vs. all the attachments that this mundane world can try and create within us, which only brings grief along the path.  I have so many friends who have their natal Moons in either Scorpio or Sagittarius, and I’ve witnessed the various pressures and hardships they have been under for the last 2.5 to 5 years.  Moon represents mind and emotion while Saturn represents grief and depression, thus you can see why this isn’t such a fun cycle, but we can certainly use it to grow, learn a lot of spiritual lessons and be of service to our fellow man.

June 29 – VENUS enters Taurus, its own sign. Thus Venus will be in high dignity at the same time that Mercury is in its own sign, as well. Happier times are thus on the horizon for the Taureans. They will want to be surrounded by beauty, music, art, luxuries and pleasures. For the other sign ruled by Venus, Libra, those with that Ascendant or Moon sign, this is their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, so it might not be as smooth a transit as for the Taureans.

Blessings of the planets to you, from the Sunshine Corner in from Sedona, AZ.  Tel. 928-284-4060.  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minute, taped session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com. vedicstarcharts.com

The Four Retrograde Planets of April, 2017

April 1, 2017

It’s a really “happening” month with planet changes, so keep your seat belts fastened.

4/05/17 – SATURN goes Retrograde. This is our slowest-moving planet. Changes he makes are significant, often affecting broad segments of society from law enforcement to the working class, and laws concerning same.  Saturn has been transiting fire sign Sagittarius since January 26th. This has been a wonderful let-up for those with Scorpio Moons (especially) or Rising Signs, where it had been stationed for over two years.  Capricorn and Aquarius are the signs ruled by Saturn. The retrograde motion may make them have to work harder to reach their goals.  Now we have three planets in retrograde motion. There will more explanation of retrograde planets, in general, below.

4/09/17 – MERCURY goes Retrograde.  Yes, here we go again. This condition will last until May 3rd. Virgo and Gemini are the signs ruled by Mercury. They get affected in the following ways:  With Mercury crossing Aries at this time, that is the 11th house for Geminis. Thus income may actually see some nice increase now. However, the Virgos do not fare so well, as Aries is their eighth house.  Whatever “transformations and vulnerability” they may have been going through since March 26 when this transit began, could intensify now.  This could affect the areas of career and health. Mercury retrograde can cause confusing and misunderstandings, in general.

4/09/17 – On this day, we now have FOUR planets in retrograde motion, which is the appearance of going backwards. Already, the great benefics Jupiter and Venus have been retrograde for some time. As we see above, Saturn goes retrograde on 4/05 and now Mercury on 4/09.  That is a LOT of “backwards motion”!  Those ruled by Venus (Libra, Taurus) and Jupiter (Sagittarius, Pisces) have already been having the opportunity for some introspection and re-examining any old issues that had not been previously totally resolved.

Now we have those ruled by Saturn (Capricorn, Aquarius) and Mercury (Gemini, Virgo) in that same boat.  It is best to view circumstances that arise now as impersonally as possible, not letting emotions cloud our thinking, or actions.  It is a time to use caution and patience, not going with urges or rash, quick decisions.  It may indeed feel like affairs are “going backwards” or “just marking time” in your life, but once each planet moves forward again, and crosses the degree it had reached at the moment it went retrograde, the time is ripe for reaping the harvest of our actions and hopefully noticing some new advantage and perspective that we may have ignored earlier, to help propel us towards our goals. This is a time when many “buried” behind-the-scenes actions in government or elsewhere could be revealed and come to light, with the end goal of cleaning up many messes.

4/12/17 – MERCURY goes into combustion with the Sun.  Thus there is the double whammy of this planet which rules communication, tactfulness and commerce being both retrograde and too close to the Sun for comfort, at the same time. You know what that means, Virgos and Geminis, as you’ve gone through this type of cycle many times before, but it is never comfortable. Hang in there!

4/12/17 – MARS moves into Taurus.  In the previous transit of the sign of Aries, Mars was very strong and feisty, since Aries is its own sign, bringing out some war-like, competitive qualities of Mars.  Taurus is the second house for those with Aries Rising or Moon signs and connects them to wealth, family and communication, so not a bad transit at all. For Scorpios, who are also ruled by Mars, this will be a good transit, too, representing their seventh house of business, partners, travel and marriage, connecting them more with these important arenas of life.

4/13/17 – The SUN enters Aries. Here the Aries Rising and Moon sign people had just gotten rid of one fiery malefic planet (though Mars is a “functional benefic” for them, since it rules their charts),  only to have another one move into their sign. The Sun is in its sign of Exaltation here and thus very happy and powerful. This is a positive placement for the Leos, as the Sun rules their chart and will now be transiting their very best house, the ninth house of good luck, good fortune, dharma, Natural Law, remedies and pilgrimage. This transit will bring out leadership qualities in those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, though their egos could be a bit overbearing now.

4/15/17 – VENUS gets out of retrograde and goes direct motion. This will bring a sense of progress and moving forward for the Libras and Taureans.  Now we will be down to just three retrograde planets, which is still quite a lot!

4/27/17 – MERCURY gets out of combustion with the Sun. This helps communication across the board for everyone, and is especially helpful to those with Virgo or Gemini Rising or Moon signs.

Planets for the New Year: January, 2017

January 8, 2017

New Year’s blessing to all! May 2017 bring you many gifts.

Once again, I can blame my tardiness on getting this report written to Mercury Retrograde, but that just ended, so now, back to work.

VERY EXCITING NEWS! Please visit my newly redesigned website, which looks awesome and much more up-to-date. http://www.vedicstarcharts.com Now is a great time to have a reading with me, to get an in-depth look at your year ahead. As you can see on my website, I can now accept PayPal payments for my services.

January 2nd – Mercury got out of combustion with the Sun, bringing relief to all those with Virgo or Gemini Rising or Moon signs, especially.

January 8th – MERCURY WENT DIRECT! Yes, that was just this morning, so communications in general should improve now. Situations that seemed to be “going backwards” for the Virgos and Geminis for the past three weeks, can move forward more smoothly, as well.  If you’ve been having trouble with communication equipment, Mercury getting out of retrograde should also be a big improvement.  Go ahead and sign those contracts and make the new agreements you have been considering.

January 13th – The SUN enters earth sign Capricorn this date, which is not its favorite sign to transit. For the Leos, the sign that the Sun rules, this represents your 6th house of enemies, rivals and competitors, stress, worry, and health problems. You can expect some delays and snags until February 12th.

January 20th – MARS enters Pisces.  For those with Aries Rising or Moon signs, this represents your 12th house, so you may experience some losses or expenses, may feel you need some time alone, or conversely, just feel isolated. Foreign travel would be a possibility, depending on your dashas (personal planetary cycles). For the other sign ruled by Mars, Scorpio, this represents your 5th house of success, learning, children, and romance, so it’s a better placement for you.

AND NOW THE BIG ONE!  Our slowest-moving planet, SATURN, will enter Sagittarius on January 26th.  This is a relief for those with Scorpio Moons especially, as you have been in the middle of your Sadhe Sati period. Sorry to spoil the fun, but I must report that your relief will be temporary: Saturn goes retrograde on April 5th, and backs all the way up into Scorpio again on June 20th. It goes direct motion on August 25th, but does not move back into Sagittarius until October 26. There it will remain for roughly 2.5 years.  Sagittarians, “call me,” to get the scoop. You will be working hard, have many responsibilities, and will need to stay focused in the next few years, including having a structured schedule, which your nature may rebel against. Trust me, it’s worth it. Also, you’ll need to get enough rest every night!  Meditation is a great help for those dealing with Saturn’s influence.

January 27th – Benefic VENUS enters Pisces, its sign of Exaltation. The signs ruled by this planet are Taurus and Libra. The Taureans will fare very well, as this is a 10th house transit, emphasizing your popularity, career, name and fame, etc. Libras have to be careful, as this is your 6th house of worry and stress. Take care of yourself and watch out for jealousy that could be directed at you now. Pisces Rising or Moon folks will feel more creative, warm and loving, yet Venus does also rule your 8th house of vulnerability and transformation.  Pisceans really have to learn to have healthy boundaries or others will take advantage of your “Emotional Healer” nature and you could end up feeling drained.

For those who like to plan far into the future, I will mention a very powerful TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE ON August 21st, and yes, it will be visible in the US. The path of complete darkness caused when Rahu tries to “swallow the Sun” is from the Pacific NW, diagonally through the Midwest, and going through South Carolina, from what I’ve read. Eclipses are very inauspicious, should not be viewed, especially by anyone who is pregnant, and their biggest effects happen along the areas in which they are visible.  This eclipse occurs in LEO, which sign the Sun owns, thus it will have the greatest effect on those born with Leo Ascendants or Moon signs.

JUNE Planets: Venus Combust the Sun; Jupiter/Rahu Conjunction Gets More Intense

June 7, 2016

Greetings from the Sunshine Corner! Where I must say, we have been setting high temperature records for days, here in Sedona, so we are looking for things to cool off.

This includes a desire for the planetary intensity to cool off! Some astrologers are speaking of consequences to world leaders, politics, and the old system of doing things, indicating a time this month when much truth will get uncovered and revealed. Well, I’ve always like that statement, from the Bible, “All that was hidden, shall be revealed.”

JUNE 2nd – Mercury moves into fixed Earth sign Taurus, and stays there until June 26th.  This helps make the Taureans more playful and communicative.  Virgo Rising and Moon types finally get an up-welling of good luck and better fortune.  The ruler of your chart, Mercury, has been traversing your house of vulnerability and just too many changes going on, for some time. You can now feel more grounded and more yourself.  For the other sign ruled by Mercury, Gemini, well it’s a bit different story. Taurus represents a twelfth house transit for you, making the Gemini Rising and Moon sign natives feel more inward or isolated. You will need to watch your spending at this time too, and not let expenses go too high.

JUNE 12th – VENUS goes into Gemini. This is a friend’s sign for benefic Venus.  Geminis may feel more playful and affectionate from this influence. It represents a nice situation for Taurus Ascendant and Moon people, with the ruler of your chart now in the second house of wealth.  Libra is the other sign ruled by Venus.  It’s not so good for the Librans here, as that is your 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, so you may not be feeling that circumstances are as settled as you would like.

JUNE 14th – HOT on the heels of Venus, the Sun now moves into air sign Gemini.  You can guess, can’t you?  Venus is still traveling too close to the Sun. That fiery orb has been combusting the qualities of Venus for some time now, and it won’t let up for a while. This affects the Librans and Taureans a lot.  It’s almost like there’s no way to get really “comfortable in your own skin,” no matter what you try! Once again, we can “blame it on the planets.”  Venus has been combust the Sun since April 30.  It does not get out of this condition until July 13th.

JUNE 17th – Here’s an interesting twist. As you know, if you follow my blogs, Mars has been retrograde for quite some time. Now it “moonwalks” back into the previous sign of Libra.  Thus normally peace-loving air sign Libra folks may feel either a lot more motivated, ambitious, with greater energy, or…may tend to get hot under the collar and easily irritated, which could surprise even them.  The good news, from my perspective, is that Mars and Saturn can have a break from being too close together in Mars’ sign of Scorpio! Whew, this has been the source of so much friction, reflected in world affairs, and our own individual, personal affairs for far too long.  Mars will get out of retrograde motion and go Direct on  June 29th. It then moves back into Scorpio July 12th to keep retrograde Saturn company there. This is nearly like an old West episode of “this town is too small for the both of us, Pardner.” They are like two enemies who would like to “knock each other’s block off” so once again the world and those of us who live here, shall have to endure more of this type of tension and pressure.  MARS does not move onto the next sign until SEPTEMBER 17th.

JUNE 20 – FULL MOON: About 4:00 a.m. AZ time (same as Pacific time, this time of year), the Moon will be at its point of fullness in Sagittarius, opposite the Sun in Gemini.  The lunar mansion or constellation of MOOLA is the one which the Moon will be traveling through at that point.  The symbol of Moola is a bunch of roots, tied together. Thus it represents the deeply buried or hidden facets of life. Perhaps this full moon here is the trigger to bring out something hidden that we need to know, on the US political scene.  Some say that Moola is ruled by Kali, the goddess of destruction.  Others believe it is ruled by Ketu, the malefic south node of the moon, as well as the goddess of poverty. The mind seeks to know the truth, and this planetary setup is going to fuel that quest even more at this time.

JUNE 21st – Benefic Jupiter and malefic Rahu (north node of the Moon) will be in exact conjuction. This influence will last for several days as they continue to travel within one degree of each other.  This occurs in fire sign Leo. For those with Leo Rising and Moon signs, this could be a rather unsettling time. There will be “nowhere to run; nowhere to hide” as this energy requires that you face whatever fears or situations you have been trying to avoid, and look them squarely in the face, in order to learn from, grow beyond and transcend them.  Jupiter represents wisdom and good judgment, among other things. Rahu tries to bring in a cloud of confusion to cause chaos.   I see this reflected in the nightly TV news (this conjunction has been going on for some time, just not at the same exact degree).  There are many untruths and shifting stories being spoken by various politicians. It becomes nearly impossible to discern where some of them stand and what real intentions they may have, if they (he) ever get into power.  These planets require us all to do our best to listen to inner guidance rather than the “noise of the world.” It is not an easy job, until Jupiter pulls away, some distance from Rahu.

JUNE 24th – Once again, Mercury goes combust the Sun, which certainly has an affect on conversation and communication. We’ll all have to strive for tactfulness and diplomacy now.

JUNE 26th – Mercury enters its own sign of Gemini, where it is very happy and feels at home.  It joins Venus and the Sun in this dual air sign, bringing the party to those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs.  The Sun brings you power; Venus and Mercury bring you playfulness and curiosity – even more of that than normal!  It is also a good placement for Virgos, the other sign ruled by Mercury, bringing you more activity in career and professional life, name and fame, action and personal power.

JUNE 29th – MARS GOES DIRECT MOTION!  We hope this brings both Scorpios and Aries, the two signs ruled by Mars, a sense of progress now.  For the Aries Ascendants and Moon sign people, this has been an uncomfortable transit through your 8th house of vulnerability, going all the way back to  February 20, 2016.  As mentioned earlier, we won’t see Mars moving on into Sagittarius until September 17th. Things should get much better for you after that. They get better for us all then, too, once Mars is finally no longer traveling too close to its enemy Saturn!

MARCH Planet Report: Total Solar Eclipse on 3/08 – Then Saturn Goes Retrograde 3/25

March 2, 2016

Anyone have the Total Solar Eclipse Blues Yet?

For all who think solar eclipses are “cool,” er, not so much, in terms of the effects known to the ancient science of Vedic Astrology. The advice of the wise is to avoid looking at, or being out in the eclipsed light of, this Luminary of our solar system. It is also not advised to eat from a couple of hours before, until a couple of hours after, an eclipse. All of the above advice applies even more so, to pregnant women.

This eclipse will be totally visible in Sulawesi, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Borneo, and the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  It will also be partially visible in northern and eastern Australia, in South Asia, and in East Asia. The areas in which an eclipse is seen will feel the astrological effects the most, per the classic texts.

This eclipse is occurring in the fixed air sign of Aquarius.  There will be a five-planet pile up going on in this sign at the time. The Sun and Moon will be at the same exact degree here in Sedona (MST) at 6:00 p.m. local time on March 8th.

Who feels it the most?  LEOS (those with this Rising and Moon sign) are ruled by the SUN.  When the light is temporarily “extinguished” they will experience something out of the ordinary, even if it is just some feeling of displacement, being out of sorts or not quite themselves. Leos are born leaders and take pride in being noticed for their accomplishment. To suddenly feel “not seen” is not comfortable or fun for them. So hang in there, Leos!  They have already been going through the yo-yo factor with the malefic north node of the moon, RAHU, crossing Leo since January 8 of this year.  Having benefic Jupiter also crossing their sign, has been the saving grace here.

Those with Aquarius Ascendants or Moon signs will feel the intensity as well.  The south node of the moon, KETU, is the culprit trying to swallow the Sun on this day. It is joined in this sign by Venus, Mercury, and of course the Sun and Moon.  There could be issues with some relationships and certain feelings of vulnerability on this occasion, but I still think it will affect the Leos even more.   About the only thing an eclipse day is good for, is having a Yagya, which is an ancient type of remedy in Vedic Astrology; a ritual in which skilled priests take on the job of mitigating the karma which one’s birth chart may show in various aspects of life. I do have a wonderful source for yagyas, done in India on the banks of the Ganges, if anyone is interested in that service.

March 1 – Mercury moved into Aquarius on this date.  This is the 9th house for Geminis, thus a good place to begin feeling more luck and support of nature for those with this Rising or Moon sign. However, for the other sign ruled by Mercury, VIRGO, this represents their 6th house so not as comfortable.  The 6th house represents health problems, worry, anxiety, stress, enemies, rivals and competitors. The only Virgos who may benefit would be lawyers and doctors or health professionals, who may attract more clients at this time.

March 7 – Mercury goes combust the Sun.  This is a time when the nimble Mercury travels too close to the Sun and “feels the burn,” and not in a good way. Thus qualities of tactfulness and diplomacy may suffer. Watch your tempers, Virgos and Geminis!

March 7 – Venus enters Aquarius, a friend’s sign.  Venus rules good houses for those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs, thus providing some comforts or even “luxuries.” This normally very cerebral sign may even be feeling a little sensuous now. For both Libras and Taureans, the signs ruled by Venus, this position represents very good houses for them both.

March 8 – Total Solar Eclipse in Aquarius. See discussion above. I should add that many Jyotishis (Jyotish is the Sanskrit word for Vedic Astrology) feel that the effects of an eclipse last from two weeks before until two weeks after, they occur. Some even feel the effects last for one month on either side of an eclipse.  That is why many have been feeling unsettled for some time now.

March 13 – Sun moves into Pisces….and not a moment too soon. It will feel more comfortable now, getting away from mean old Ketu, and out of an enemy’s sign (Aquarius) into a friend’s sign now.  However for LEOS, this represents their 8th house of transformation, vulnerability, battles and disunion, as well as knowledge of past and future. I urge Leos to listen to their intuition and be vigilant of their boundaries during this 30-day period.  The Sun represents for Pisces Rising and Moon sign folks, the ruler of their 6th house, thus bringing some discomfort, worry or anxiety and perhaps the tendency to get “overheated” one way or another.

March 18 – Mercury moves into Pisces.  This is a more helpful position for the Virgos, as it represents their 7th house of partners and travel. Being able to connect with others now, becomes smoother and more comfortable.  It’s also a good house for Geminis, also ruled by Mercury, representing their 10th house of career, action, name and fame.

March 23 – PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE.  Usually there are at least two eclipses per year of both Sun and Moon, and they do often occur within the same month, often within two weeks of each other.  This penumbral lunar eclipse will be visible from most parts of Asia, Australia, North America and South America.  There are some very good sites online which you can google and see the full path of this eclipse.  It will occur in the earth sign Virgo.  At least it is just a partial darkening of the Moon’s light…but let’s keep in mind that the Moon represents mind and emotions in the Vedic system, and thus the normally logical Virgos could be slightly thrown off their usual game on this day.

March 25 – SATURN GOES RETROGRADE.  This period of the appearance of “going backwards” begins at 2:57 a.m. MST.   It does not move into direct motion again until August 13th.  There is already the uncomfortable situation that Saturn has been in Scorpio for some time, thus in an enemy’s sign.  Mars is also transiting through Scorpio now, too, and these great enemies being in the same sign together create much friction which spills over into the world scene, adding to the chaos of current times.  The two signs ruled by Saturn are Capricorn and Aquarius.  While this represents good houses for both of them, the retrograde period will bring some delays and obstacles. It may also bring the unavoidable need to finally resolve some issues they have been putting off, or thought were already settled.  Patience will be needed.

March 31 – VENUS  moves into water sign Pisces. Here the great benefic experiences its sign of exaltation.  Those with Pisces Rising or Moon signs should feel rather playful and attractive now, if not downright self-indulgent.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra. For those with Taurus Ascendants or Moon signs, this is a very nice transit, through their house of gain, income and fulfillment of desires.  For the Libras, Pisces represents their 6th house, so efforts will be needed to relax, try and avoid extra stress and worry now, and focus more on taking care of themselves.

No. 928-284-4060.  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, taped session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com. vedicstarcharts.com

Where the Vedic Planets of August Stand

August 13, 2015

August 1, 2015 – SATURN went into direction motion as of this date.  It had been Retrograde since March 14th.

This will bring a sense of progress at last for those with Capricorn and Aquarius rising signs and moon signs, which signs are ruled by Saturn.  It hasn’t been exactly comfortable for the Scorpios, who have felt the weight of Saturn’s transit since November 2, 2014.  Saturn stays in a sign for approximately 2.5 years. Hang in there, Scorpios!

August 4 – Mercury entered Leo, a fire sign.  Communication can be used in a powerful, even fiery way during this transit.  It brings creative endeavors to the Gemini Risings, but not as good for the other sign ruled by Mercury, which is Virgo, as this transit represents their 12th house of loss, expense and isolation.

August 6 – Mercury gets out of combustion, which is helpful for less irritable communication and more tactfulness. This shift especially helps the Gemini and Virgo Ascendents and Moon sign people.

August 10 – VENUS went into combustion. This is a period when benefic Venus travels too close to the Sun for comfort.  This can bring some feistiness to those ruled by Venus, those with Taurus and Libra rising and moon signs.  Try to keep your cool, this hot final month of summer.  It gets out of combustion on August 20, which will be a relief for you.  This is especially so since you have felt the pressure of Venus being in retrograde motion since July 25, and it does not go Direct until Sept 6th.

August 11 – MARS gets out of combustion now. What a nice break for the Aries and Scorpio Rising and Moon sign people, since Mars rules their charts.   Mars-ruled folks may have been feeling some extra restlessness, irritability or more quarrelsomeness than normal during this rather lengthy time period, since April 10 when it went into combustion.

August 13 – VENUS moves into movable water sign Cancer.  Venus stands for luxuries, comforts, pleasures, and partners.  It should be a very good time for the Cancer Ascendants and Moon sign folks, as these qualities or experiences are brought to your experience now, in one way or another.

August 16 – the SUN moves into fire sign LEO, where it is at home in its own sign.  Leos will feel better after the one month of having the lord of their charts crossing the previous sign Cancer, which is their 12th house of loss and expenses. NOW Leos can feel in their full power again. Just watch out for getting overheated at this time.

August 20 – Relief for Taureans and Librans as VENUS now gets out of its combust (to close to) the Sun status.

August 22 – MERCURY moves into its own sign of VIRGO.  This is wonderful news for Virgos and Geminis! It will be a boon for communication and diplomacy in general across the board.  Enjoy some smooth sailing, now Mercury people.

Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com

March 2015 Vedic Astrolology Planet Changes

March 7, 2015

Springtime Planet Movements – may they bless your journey.  http://www.vedicstarcharts.com

March 8, 2015 – MERCURY moves into fixed air sign Aquarius, where it is in a friend’s house.  Those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs in their natal charts, will enjoy having their chart ruler getting out of their 8th house of vulnerability and transformation, to now go into their BEST house of good luck, good fortune, dharma, remedies, and pilgrimage (9th house).  Those with Virgo Rising or Moon signs (Virgo is also ruled by Mercury), will not enjoy this change as much, as it is going from their 5th  house of success into their 6th house of worry, stress, anxiety, enemies, rivals and competitors.  You will need to use your intellect and tactfulness, Virgos, to handle situations that may arise during this transit.  Mercury will remain in this location until 3/27.

March 12, 2014 – Benefic VENUS now enters the fiery sign of Aries.  Those with Aries Ascendants and Moon signs, will benefit, as Venus owns their money houses!  The signs ruled by Venus are Taurus and Libra. The Taureans among us may tend to spend more money now, with Venus crossing their 12th house of loss and expenses. They could also feel more inward at this time. It could be an excellent time for some foreign travel, however. For Libras, Venus will be crossing their house of marriage, partners, business and travel, so any of these areas could become “lit up” in positive ways now.

March 14, 2015 – the SUN now moves into Pisces, where it joins Mars and Ketu, the south node of the Moon.  Those with Pisces Ascendants or Moon signs will be feeling more power and energy, while still having to handle the strong malefic energy of tricky Ketu.  At least this lunar node does bring an increase in intuition.  The Sun rules the fixed fire sign of Leo, and will now be crossing Leo’s 8th house.  Be prepared for some changes, all you “kings of the jungle”!  Your health could suffer if you do not take good care of yourself and get enough rest to balance all the activities you feel pulled to engage in. The same holds true for the Pisceans, since the Sun rules your 6th house of health problems, stress or worry and can bring those experiences to you, when it crosses your sign.

March 14, 2015 – on this same day, SATURN goes retrograde.  This is our slowest moving planet. It has been in the fixed water sign of Scorpio since November 2, 2014, when it began a two and a half year journey there.  This puts some strain on those with Scorpio rising or Moon signs. They will have to keep focused on work and duty, and be mindful of their responsibilities, in order to placate Saturn. Retrograde motion is the appearance of a planet “moving backwards” from our vantage point on planet Earth.  When a malefic planet like Saturn is retrograde, it can bring out more of its negative tendencies, which include grief, depression, separation, obstacles and delays.  Our attitude on how we handle these events now will make all the difference in how situations turn out in the long run.  Saturn rules the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius, thus those with these Rising signs or Moon signs may especially feel like something they’ve been working on could be undergoing some reversals now.  As Saturn does not do anything “fast,” it will remain in this retrograde status until August 1st.

March 23, 2015 – MARS enters its own sign of Aries, where it is strong.  Here it joins Venus (and even the Moon will be in Aries on this date), so those with Aries Rising or Moon signs will feel vivacious or sexy now,  and creative energies should be abundant. Mars rules Scorpio as well as Aries. Those with Scorpio Rising or Moon signs will have the situation of their planetary ruler crossing their 6th house of health issues now, plus the tendency to worry or deal with competitors. No worries, the Scorpios will surely feel competitive with Mars aspecting (looking back at) its own sign in this position.  Be careful of “the need for speed,” I say to both the Aries and Scorpios, for Mars also signifies accidents of various types, thus “haste makes waste” can truly apply here.

March 25, 2015 MERCURY goes combust the Sun once more. This means it is traveling so close to the Sun as to have its significations damaged by the heat of this Luminary.  It will remain in this condition until April 22nd.  Everyone will be well advised to watch that communication stays as smooth as possible, for this is one thing that Mercury signifies, as well as friendship, commerce, skin and nerves.  “Think before you speak” is a good adage to remember now, especially for those ruled by Mercury, i.e. the signs of Virgo and Gemini.

March 27, 2015 – MERCURY enters the dual water sign of Pisces. This is its sign of debilitation where it feels the weakest, actually.  It will remain here just until April 11th.  Here it joins its friend the Sun, as well as the malefic Ketu.  The qualities Mercury brings to Pisces are positive, despite the debilitation, bringing the desire to communicate (though Ketu may try and block that), as well as the potential to bring friends and partners closer.  For Virgos, this is their 7th house of business and partners, and for Geminis, it is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame, reputation, etc., so it is a positive house transit for both of these signs and those with these Ascendents or Moons.

To understand how these planetary shifts affect your own life in 2015, please call me to schedule your personal reading.

Both SATURN & MERCURY going Retrograde

February 18, 2013

Planet Movements for February, 2013

SATURN – goes retrograde tomorrow morning, February 18th and will stay in this condition until July 7th.

Since August 3, 2012, Saturn has been transiting LIBRA, the sign in which it receives Exalted dignity. Malefic Rahu joined it there on January 14, 2013 (and Rahu stays in this sign for 18 months).  A planet in exaltation is in its highest dignity, and thus considered more able to deliver on the qualities it stands for. Yet we were taught that “Exalted Saturn means exalted grief”, since grief, obstacles and delays are some of Saturn’s qualities.

For the signs which Saturn “rules”, Capricorn and Aquarius, Saturn is transiting very good houses (the 10th of career, action, name and fame; the 9th house of good luck, respectively).  For Libra Ascendents or Moon signs, Saturn is the Yoga Karaka, or best planet, so we still expect it to bring good things for these signs, in any case.  For society at large, Saturn is governing servants, and those who labor — sitting with Rahu, and now going retrograde, we could see some restlessness and even chaos in these segments of the population now. Attention will be drawn to their plight, and perhaps (finally) some solutions can be found, such as increasing the minimum wage, which has sadly lagged behind the cost of living increases, for many years now.

MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE ON FEBRUARY 23- and stays that way until March 17th.  It will be in the Sign of Aquarius when this occurs, along with the Sun, Mars and Venus. The “planetary pile up” in the fixed Air sign of Aquarius will bring some positive energy, at least from Venus (Yogakaraka planet for Aquarians). Mars is already there and bringing more energy and ambition (but perhaps some irritation, anger or quarrelsomeness as well). Even Mercury brings the ability to learn new things now, something that always appeals to Aquarians. The Sun rules the 7th house for this Air sign, and thus can attract new partners, whether personal or business partners.

VENUS went combust the Sun on February 16th and stays that way until May 6th, so those with Taurus or Libra Rising or Moon signs, take note, as you may find yourself feeling more peevish or easily stressed or irritated during this period. Patience is such a virture, isn’t it? LOL.

As usual, I am happy to oblige with a personal reading, yearly reading, couples compatibility reading or astrocartography reading, if you would like to book an appointment. Please just call on me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, taped session. From the Sunshine Corner, as ever, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, 303-473-9393, healingevents@yahoo.com.
