November Begins with a Mars/Venus Planetary War

November 1, 2015

Planetary War occurs when two planets are moving through their orbits within one degree of each other viewed from the perspective of we humans on Earth. Havoc ensues, and it’s winner take all in that power struggle, thus affecting the signs ruled by the loser.

In October we had Mars and Jupiter in a planetary war that ended on October 20, with the two of them taking turns vanquishing the other.  Then Jupiter and Venus got into the same degree and that war lasted from October 24-26.  Now we have Mars and Venus at it from October 31 through November 5th. Just in case you were feeling disempowered or had a somewhat rough couple of weeks here, this may provide some insight for you.  Especially if you have a Scorpio, Aries, Libra or Taurus Ascendant or Moon sign.  Back in October it would have been those with Sagittarius or Pisces Rising or Moon signs who got affected, along with the Scorpios and Aries folks.

This battle is an interesting one….Mars and Venus started duking it out while still both in the final degrees of the fixed fire sign LEO.  As of tomorrow, November 2nd, they will both move into earth sign VIRGO just about at the same time!  Venus moves into this, its sign of debilitation, at approximately 7:05 p.m. MST, and Mars moves into Virgo at 7:41 p.m. MST.  The fact that the malefic north node of the Moon, RAHU is already in Virgo, can add to the planetary confusion and discomfort.

VIRGOS – While on the one hand, those with Virgo Rising or Moon signs in their Vedic charts, may feel some relief by having benefic VENUS now transit through this sign (versus when all those planets had been stacked up in their 12th house of loss and expenses), this planet is weaker than usual in its sign of debilitation here.  Still, it rules the money houses for Virgos, the 2nd house of wealth and the 9th house of good fortune, so surely there will be some better financial karma delivered, once the planetary war is over.  Mars gives energy and drive, but also can cause Virgos to act more angry and impatient. Mars joined with Rahu can give passionate actions that are based more on whim than on Virgo’s normal common sense and logic.  We cannot ignore that Mars also stands for “accidents” and being the ruler of Virgo’s 8th house of vulnerability can bring same to those with these rising or moon signs, I’d suggest have a plan to “sleep on” any decision made on a given day and rethink it in the calmness and clarity of the next morning’s light.  But be careful of hasty actions, in any case.

November 12 – Saturn goes combust the Sun. This means, as the Sun approaches Scorpio, the sign that Saturn has been sitting in for some time, the nearness by degrees intensifies the negative effect on Saturn.  This condition goes on until December 16, so those ruled by Saturn, which in the Vedic Astrology system are Capricorns and Aquarians may be “feeling the heat.”  The Sun is fiery hot and Saturn is a cool, stoic planet by nature. They are great enemies so it is not so great when they are transiting together, which brings us to:

November 16 – Both the Sun and Mercury move into fixed water sign Scorpio this day.  Mercury has been combust the Sun (i.e. traveling too close for comfort) since October 26.  By this date it will be at the same degree as the Sun and thus completely in meltdown status. Once again, this is not great for the signs ruled by Mercury: Virgo and Gemini.  And it’s not helpful for dealing with communication in general. Tactfulness and diplomacy could go by the wayside during this time in our usual human interactions. Mercury also stands for commerce so that would be negatively impacted as well, so business owners, take heed.  Better to watch our words than to regret them later. Thus Scorpio suddenly has a lot of action happening, with divergent and contradictory energies of these three planets moving through this sign for the next month. Those with Scorpio Rising or Moon signs, please take note, and try not to take personally some of the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” that the contrasting energies of Saturn and the Sun may deliver into your experience now.

November 29 – VENUS moves from Virgo into its own sign of LIBRA. In this movable air sign Venus regains its power and those ruled by Venus (Libra and Taurus Ascendants and Moon sign people) should feel a lot better now, more playful, outgoing, social and attractive. Even the Virgos benefit as the ruler of their 2nd house of wealth, family and speech is now happily situated right in that 2nd house. Bring on the cash flow, Venus!

Those are the key astrological movements of this month.  Of course when the Moon goes through Pisces from late on November 20 until late November 22, it will be conjunct with KETU, the malefic south node of the Moon. Whereas this can enhance the intuition and sensitivity which Pisces natives are already known for, it can also bring “hindrance and degradation” which are hallmarks of Ketu.  Since the Moon changes signs every 2.5 days, roughly, I do not take the time in these blog posts to write those up each month.

The Exciting Planet Dance of July, 2015

July 2, 2015

Ready for the Full Moon in Sagittarius?

As I write, the Moon is nearly totally full in this dual fire sign, appearing opposite the Sun (and Mars) in Gemini.  It was so lovely last night as I stepped outside to see the magical clouds of the Arizona sky forming a silvery platform beneath this shining luminary.

Those with Sagittarius Ascendents or natal Moon signs in the Vedic Astrology system may be feeling a bit tender or even moody with the Moon crossing this sign now, for it does rule their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, enlivening some of those feelings in their experience for this 2.5 day sojourn of the Moon here.

The Moon rules the water sign of Cancer.  As it travels through the 6th house from Cancer now, those with this Rising or Moon sign may feel pressured with so many details to take care of, accompanied by a plateful of worry and tension.  Funnily enough, this extra pressure can help us rise to the occasion and act in a more organized way to get a lot done, than when we do not have that pressure! I should know…

We cannot ignore the ongoing “Graha Yuddha” or planetary war that has been occurring for several days  in the sign of CANCER. The two great benefics Jupiter and Venus are aligning in the sky, at the very same degree.  They need to get one full degree apart before the battle is over. This will occur early in the morning of July 3rd. In the meanwhile, to best understand this…think of two vehicles trying to occupy the same space at the same time. We know what that results in!  Astrologically, while these two plants are not physically colliding, the energetic significance of this occurrence does matter.  Venus left out of balance can give rise to “self indulgence” – not that we Cancerians would ever give in to such urges, right?  What are YOU laughing about, you Taureans and Librans? Those of you ruled by Venus could also be feeling some urges or impulses that you’d be better off avoiding right now. Venus does “win” this particular battle. I cannot help but wonder how my Pisces and Sagittarius friends have been feeling these past few days, as Jupiter rules their charts.

July 4th – Happy Independence Day!  Geminis will have plenty to celebrate as Mercury moves into your sign this very day. Having the ruler of your chart in its own sign, and your first house of self, body and personality will help you feel bright, clear, perky, friendly and communicative. I mean even more than normal (LOL).

July 4th – VENUS moves into Leo.  Okay, now the party moves to this fixed fire sign and the Cancer Rising and Moon sign folks will just have to deal with it (i.e. Venus leaving their sign). Not too shabby though, having this benefic now crossing their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication.  Leos benefit from feeling even more beautiful (“I’m a star, baby”) and affectionate than usual.

July 11th – Mercury goes “combust the Sun” i.e. traveling too close to the fire for comfort, so everyone may feel a little less tactful and diplomatic in their communications now…especially the Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon sign folks.

JULY 13 – Here’s a big change! Jupiter only changes signs every 12.5 to 13 months. Today it leaves its exaltation sign of Cancer and enters Leo, joining benefic Venus there. This is a friend’s sign for Jupiter so it will still be pretty happy, though no longer exalted. Like I said, the party moves to LEO this month.

July 16 – Sun enters Cancer.  This is a beneficial transit for the Cancerians, as the Sun rules their house of wealth, family and communication thus shining a light of positive connection to these areas now. For the Leos, which sign the Sun rules, this represents their 12th house of loss and expenditure, as well as foreign travel. It is a house of isolation and/or seclusion, so they may feel more inward at this time.

July 20 – Mercury enters Cancer.  This placement represents good houses for both Virgos and Geminis, the signs that Mercury rules, so it should bring some positive results, ranging from increased income to greater connection with some family members.

July 25 – VENUS goes retrograde.  Here’s a chance to rethink certain possibilities and options you have been playing with, those with Libra or Taurus Rising or Moon signs. Remember that sometimes what looks like “obstacles and delays” can just be the chance to take a deep breath and look before you leap!  It does not go into direct motion again until September 6th so it may feel like a “long, hot summer” to you. Thus attitude and understanding means everything during this period when so many situations may feel beyond your ability to control.

July 30 – Mars enters Cancer, it’s sign of debilitation, where it typically “feels weakest.” However, the irony for the Cancerians of the Zodiac is that Mars is their Yogakaraka, or best planet, thus it can still bring in a wave of good events into their life, anyway. The main issues they will have to avoid now is having a short fuse, or being cranky or irritable (in Ayurvedic medicine this relates to the element of Pitta being out of balance).  Mars is a planet of energy and fire, so can stir up some ambition, too, and more initiative to reach goals and get things done.

MERCURY is now RETROGRADE, 6/26-7/20/13

June 27, 2013

Mercury Retrograde began today, June 26 at 7:05 a.m. MDT.

For several days last week, Mercury and Venus were in a “planetary war” off and on, because they were both traveling at the same degree or at times within one degree of each other, in Gemini.  That means for the signs ruled by Venus (Libra and Taurus) and the signs ruled by Mercury (Gemini and Virgo) you could have had moments of confusion, or feeling weak and a bit “disempowered” etc. Aren’t you glad that is over now that Venus has moved into the next sign (Cancer)?

Have you been wondering what happened to that planet “pile up” which moved progressively from Taurus to Gemini in recent weeks? Here’s the scoop and what to expect now:

June 22, 2013 – Venus moved from Gemini into Cancer, leaving the other 3 planets in the dual Air sign of Gemini: Jupiter (which will be there for a year), Sun (will be there until July 16) and Mercury, which, due to the retrograde motion, will not leave this sign until August 4th.

The people I’ve been feeling the most compassion for are those with Scorpio Rising or Moon signs. Especially if you also happen to have Moon in Cancer, as do a few people I know – for there have been 4 planets crossing Scorpio’s 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, which happens to be the 12th house of loss and expenditures from the Cancer Moon!  Also from the perspective of Scorpio in the Vedic Astrology system, at the same time retrograde Saturn with malefic Rahu have been transiting your 12th house (more losses and expenditures).   At least the recent move of VENUS should lighten your load some. We hope!

June 26 – Mercury retrograde until July 20 at 12:19 p.m. MST.

June 27 – Mars gets out of combustion with the Sun. This is helpful to the signs of Aries and Scorpio.

July 1 – Mercury goes combust the Sun (Virgos & Geminis could feel more anxiety, impatience and agitation, especially when you add that to the retrograde situation). It will stay combust until July 17.

July 4 – Jupiter gets out of combustion with the Sun – good news for Sagittarius and Pisces Rising and Moon signs.

July 4 – MARS ENTERS GEMINI at 1:41 p.m. MST. Scorpio Ascendents and Moon signs beware of this period, as now you’ll have the ruler of your chart ALSO in your 8th house of transformation and vulnerability! So once more, we will see 4 planets in this dual Air sign.  For Cancer Ascendents and Moon signs, this is your 12th house of loss, seclusion, isolation, expenditure, and foreign travel. Let me know how that goes for you!

July 16 – Sun will move into Cancer, and we shall see the beginning of another “planetary pile up” in this movable Water sign. More details on that, next month.

A Fiery Planet Line-up in Fire Sign Aries…and Full Moon lunar eclipse 4/25/13

April 10, 2013

Planets Pushing their way into Aries – many are Combust the Sun right now

“Folks, what we have now is a real situation….”  There are astrological times that call for sounding the alarm. This is one of them, in my opinion. I shall explain:

At the current time we have tricky, malefic Ketu in the fire sign of Aries, along with the Moon and just today, Venus has joined them.  The proverbial “fireworks” happen a little later in the month.

Just a few days prior to the 4/25 partial lunar eclipse – which occurs in the Air sign Libra, in the Vedic system – here’s the celestial vision that we have to contemplate:

4/12/2013 -MARS moves into its own sign of Aries, where it is very strong.

4/13/2013 – SUN movies into Aries, its sign of Exaltation, where it is strongest.

So at that point, we’ll have Mars completely, totally combust the Sun (i.e. traveling in the same degree as the Sun). This, after we had to deal with a Mars/Venus planetary war going on for several days, around April 8th.  VENUS also is and will continue to be, combust the Sun.

For quite some time, I have been concerned about negative, malefic RAHU (north node of the Moon) moving into Air Sign Libra, to join already powerful malefic SATURN, who is now also Retrograde, in addition to being in its sign of Exaltation, so he could hardly get more powerful. Rahu (moved into Libra 1/14/2013) causes chaos and highly unpredictable situations, while Saturn causes grief. Because this is an Air sign…my concern has been of possible “grief and chaos coming from the skies.”

Now imagine this — there are enemies sitting across the room from you, staring “daggers at you”. Well, we have the planetary equivalent of this, coming up, when MOON joins Rahu and Saturn in Libra, directly across from the 4 planets that will be in Aries: Sun, Mars, Ketu, Venus.  Sun and Mars are friends, but they are enemies of Saturn.  Mars will be in no mood to play, with its highly combusted situation, in transit.  KETU is good at hiding things.  Mars will be at 9:56 degrees of Aries; the Sun at 11:42 degrees of Aries; Venus at 18:57 degrees Aries and Ketu 22:47 Aries. Opposite across the Zodiac, and within what we call close “orbs of influence” degree wise, will be Saturn (retrograde) at 14:21 degrees Libra, Rahu 22:47 Libra and full Moon 11:42 Libra. It is simply a highly volatile situation.

If ever there was a time that an imbalanced, uncontrollable dictator could launch a series of rockets, it is this month!! A national news program today was discussing that North Korea may in fact, be preparing a simultaneous launch of not just the two or three “obvious” long range missiles parked on its Eastern shore, but perhaps plan other more currently hidden missile launches, with various distance destinations. A blitz, if you will.  Sun and Mars in Aries, with tricky Ketu, could contribute to such actions, especially with the powerful aspects of exalted Saturn, Rahu and the Moon.

The partial Lunar ECLIPSE will be at its fullest at 1:57 p.m. MDT.  Its inauspicious effects will be felt to the greatest degree in the areas in which it will be visible: Eastern Europe, Africa, Central Asia, Western Australia, and eastern parts of South America.  Therefore, we here on mainland USA, should not experience the brunt of whatever turmoil and problems get generated.

Of course, we will also experience two more eclipses next month, May, 2013, but that is a story for another day.

Please contact me if you’d like a 90 minute reading to get a clear idea of what all these changes mean for you. My fee is $180, and I do record the session for you. Thank you, if you have interested friends to pass this blog post along to.

Planet Update! Mercury enters Leo 8/28; Venus enters Cancer 8/31 on a Blue Moon

August 28, 2012

So many things to share as the grahas (planets) dance into their next positions in the Cosmos!

Did any of you notice a particularly intense few days from August 12th through the 16th ? That is when Mars and Saturn (“great enemies” to one another) were having a “planetary war.”

Saturn had entered its sign of exaltation Libra, on August 3rd (by the way, it only JUST got of Sandhi or “the gap” on August 26th, so now has full power).  Well, after a long time together “duking it out” in the sign of Virgo, Mars once again is conjunct Saturn as they transit Libra, which Mars entered on August 13th.  They were traveling close enough together (within one degree of each other) from August 12 -16, for that to be considered “planetary war.” Not a fun time for either planet!

In a nutshell, that would not have been comfortable for any of the signs ruled by Mars (Aries, Scorpio) OR Saturn (Capricorn, Aquarius), much less their host sign of Libra, so if you have either an Ascendant or Moon sign of any of the above, you will know what I mean, from your own experience!

For Aries Ascendants and Moon signs these 2 planets are crossing your 7th house of business, partners and travel, so there could be some difficulties with relationships.  The natural competitive urges of those with this sign will be running into delays and obstacles, at least.

Right now, it is the Scorpio Rising or Moon signs, that I have the most sympathy for. Not only is the ruler of their chart Mars, traveling with arch enemy Saturn, but that is occurring in their 12th house of loss, expenditure, and isolation.  Scorpios are already by nature a somewhat secretive lot, and guard their privacy. You may see even less of your Scorpio friends during this time of going inward.  Remember that they also have the affliction of malefic RAHU crossing their sign, where it is debilitated (thus meaner than usual, even), which stays there until January 14, 2013.

On top of that Venus has been crossing Scorpio’s 8th house of “transformation, battles and disunion, and vulnerability). Venus stands for partners, plus rules Scorpio’s 7th house of spouse or partner, so it is just all shaping up to be a rather intense time….unless they use the 8th house (and 12th house) sexual energy as these transits can also provide a time of focusing on this type of sensuality and “bed pleasures.”  Considering all of the above, “yikes!” we say for the Scorpios!

VENUS MOVES INTO CANCER August 31st, the same day as the 2nd full moon this month, which makes it a “blue moon.”  There is no special Vedic Astrology significance to this occurrence, to my knowledge, just an interesting coincidence.  My calculations show that the Moon will be at its fullness point at approximately 8:00 a.m. MDT time (Colorado time) in the sign of Aquarius.

Cancerians will enjoy this transit of Venus, which owns their 11th house of income, as well as their 4th house of friends, self confidence, comforts of home, vehicles, property…bringing these items or qualities into their lives.  This is an improvement since it was crossing their house of loss in the prior transit.

It should prove a relief to the Scorpios too (see above!) as finally benefic Venus will be crossing their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, Natural Law, etc.

Venus in the Virgo Ascendants and Moon sign folks’ 11th house of gain and income, should help them in that area.

As always, I welcome your emails or phone calls, to set up a personal Vedic Astrology 90 minutes reading with me to see what these planet changes mean for you personally.
