February Planets Dance Through the Vedic Star Sky

February 1, 2016

We start the month with Jupiter being the only planet in retrograde motion.

January 7th is the date Jupiter went retrograde. It gets out of this condition on May 9th, which is when relief comes to the signs it rules, Sagittarius and Pisces. Thus if your Ascendant or Moon sign is one of these, you now have the opportunity to work on finishing up some old business or getting to the bottom of a situation that had eluded your grasp previously.  That is one thing a retrograde period is good for.

A further complication for our Sag and Pisces friends is the situation of Jupiter being conjunct, to the very same degree for some days now, with malefic Rahu, the north node of the Moon, who is known as the “seizer.”  The lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu, only eclipse our solar system luminaries, the Sun and Moon, in the technical sense. Energetically though, those ruled by Jupiter could feel that something is trying to “eclipse” their goals or feelings at this time.  Because both Rahu and Jupiter are in backwards (retrograde) movement now, this to-the-very-degree situation will continue for some time.  By Feb. 20th they will finally at least be more than one degree apart, which will help some.

Virgos and Geminis in the Vedic Astrology zodiac have been feeling relieved since the ruler of their chart, Mercury, got out of retrograde on January 25.

Feb. 8 – MERCURY moves into Capricorn, a friend’s sign (its friend Venus joins him there on Feb. 12th).  For Virgos this represents the 5th house of learning, education, success, children and love affairs, plus inclinations of the mind.  Thus Virgos get the good end of this particular transit.  For Geminis, the other sign ruled by Mercury, it is not as much fun, as Capricorn represents their 8th house of battles, disunion, transformation and vulnerability.  We can only ask the all-important question, “What am I to learn from this situation?” rather than let possible insecurities overtake us during this period of changing circumstances.

Feb. 12 – VENUS enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign.  This bodes well for both signs ruled by this great benefic, Libra and Taurus. For the Libras, the ruler of their chart will now be crossing the 4th house of home, real estate, friends, vehicles, self confidence.  There could be some cozy times spent at home or genial social gatherings with friends now.  For the Taureans, Capricorn represents their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, destiny, dharma, remedies, pilgrimage, natural law, higher education, etc.  Thus our Taurus friends should be in for a period of feeling lucky and on point in their endeavors.

As a reminder, your Dashas are King! That means your personal planetary cycles weigh more in the analysis of a chart reading, than do the transits.  I give insights on where the planets are in the sky each month in this Blog, to offer a taste of what this 5,000-year old aspect of Vedic Science can do to offer insights into the trends going on in your life, but nothing replaces a personal chart reading, FYI.

Feb. 13 – The SUN moves into Aquarius.  For the Aquarians, the Sun owns the 7th house, representing partners, thus those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs could easily attract to themselves a business partner or new personal relationship during this 30-day transit.  Conversely, for the Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, they will find themselves able to and interested in reaching out to other people and partners, as the ruler of their chart will be crossing their 7th house.

Feb. 20 – Things heat up for Scorpios as their planetary ruler, MARS enters their sign, joining its enemy Saturn, which has been transiting there for some time.  Mars remains here until June 17.  Saturn doesn’t move until January 26, 2017.  These two planets represent the cross-purpose concepts of “hurry up, and slow down.”  Mars wants to get everything done YESTERDAY (or sooner), thus bringing much drive, energy, initiative and action into the energy field of Scorpios.  But Saturn wants a more moderate, deliberate pace.  Saturn brings detachment and delays, humility and hard work.  It is not to be trifled with! And certainly won’t let itself be pushed around by impatient Mars, which can sometimes cause an individual to act rashly…the very opposite of Saturn’s cautious nature.  Thus if  you have a Scorpio Moon or Ascendant, you may experience some internal push/pull or paradoxical forces operating within your psyche and your life until Mars moves on, March 1st.

We shall have some interesting changes to discuss next month, with a March 8/9 (depending on your time zone) total solar eclipse, and a partial lunar eclipse on March 23.  As if that were not enough excitement, Saturn goes retrograde on March 25!  Stay tuned.

Total LUNAR Eclipse 4/14-15; SOLAR Eclipse 4/29

April 6, 2014

Planet Movements for April, 2014

April 3, 2014 – Mercury went into Pisces, where it is “debilitated” or weaker than normal. This could affect tactfulness and diplomacy in general, and particularly affect those ruled by Mercury, the signs of Virgo and Gemini.  However this transit is in a good house for those with these Rising or Moon signs, so really should not be so bad. In other words, not like a “Mercury Retrograde” period!

April 12, 2014 – Mercury becomes “combust the Sun”, meaning traveling so close to the Sun that it can feel irritated and react rashly.  This status lasts until May 8th, and WILL affect Geminis and Virgos, so this is good to know, as a reminder to focus on patience now, as best you can.

April 13, 2014 – SUN enters ARIES, its sign of Exaltation, where it is the stronger and most powerful.  This will be a most auspicious transit for those with LEO Rising or Moon Signs, as the Sun rules Leo. Your leadership abilities should be outstanding now.  Aries sign folks will feel full of energy and dynamism, as well. This is a one month transit.

April 14 -15, 2014 – TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE.  This eclipse is interesting and unusual for a number of reasons. In terms of our local time here in Boulder, CO (Mountain Daylight Time), it begins at 10:53 p.m. on April 14, in the sign of VIRGO. But then the Moon quickly moves into the next sign LIBRA at 11:29 p.m. April 14th, to join the strong Saturn which has been in this sign for so long, and the malefic RAHU, which is trying to now “swallow” the light of the Moon, to put it out, and thus causing the eclipse.   Locally here in CO, we will experience the full effect of this eclipse on April 15th at 1:06 a.m., and it is over at 4:37 a.m. on April 15th.   This celestial event will be visible from North and South America, most of Europe, East Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

April 20, 2014 – MERCURY enters Aries, where it joins its friend, the Sun.  Thus we see it will have a rather brief stay in Pisces, the previous sign, where it was debilitated.  Virgos and Geminis should contact me for a reading to understand the full impact on them personally, for this particularly transit.  It is basically GOOD for the Geminis, for gain and income, and can cause some feeling of “vulnerability” in the Virgos.

Annular Solar Eclipse of April 29

Now malefic Ketu, the south node of the Moon, tries to put out the bright light of the Exalted Sun in Aries. Just a reminder that no eclipse is considered as a positive thing in Vedic Astrology, but quite the opposite.  This eclipse will be visible in the following areas: the South Indian Ocean, the south edge of Indonesia, all of Australia, and Antarctica.  We are fortunate that this event will not be visible here in America.  Here is some very interesting information which I found on the NASA eclipse info website:

The first solar eclipse of 2014 occurs at the Moon’s descending node in southern Aries. This particular eclipse is rather unusual because the central axis of the Moon’s antumbral shadow misses Earth entirely while the shadow edge grazes the planet. Classified as a non-central annular eclipse, such events are rare. Out of the 3,956 annular eclipses occurring during the 5,000-year period -2000 to +3000, only 68 of them or 1.7% are non-central (Espenak and Meeus, 2006).

April 27, 2014 – benefic VENUS enters Pisces, its sign of exaltation which is grand news for those with Taurus rising or Moon signs, since Venus is the lord of your chart, and will now be crossing your 11th house of gain and income, in high status.  It rules Libra as well, but having Venus crossing your 6th house in such high dignity can actually increase your worries, stress, anxiety or “rivals, enemies, and competitors”, so this is not as comfortable for you Libra folks.  Other signs should expect more positive results from this transit, except for the Leos among us, as this is their 8th house of vulnerability and for the Aries folks, it is the 12th house of loss and expenditure, which may be increased for them in this time…until VENUS moves into Aries on MAY 23.

Thank you for any referrals you may send me for  a personal reading, yearly reading, couples compatibility reading or astrocartography reading,or if you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member of dear one. Please just call on me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, taped session. From the Sunshine Corner, as ever, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, 303-473-9393, healingevents@yahoo.com.

Three Planets Move Into GEMINI this week

May 28, 2013

Several planets are moving from Taurus into Gemini now.

First the movements in chronological order, and then how they will impact you:

May 23, 2013Mercury finally got of “combustion” wherein it had been traveling too close to the Sun since April 28th.  VIRGO and GEMINI are the signs ruled by Mercury, so both Virgo and Gemini Ascendants and Moon signs will feel more comfortable now (and will feel less irritable and impatient!)

May 27, 2013 – MERCURY moved into Gemini, its own sign, where it feels strong and happy. Communications overall should be improved now as well as the ability to focus more clearly on details.

May 28, 2013 VENUS moves into Gemini (close to midnight MDT).

May 30, 2013 – JUPITER finally moves into Gemini….and Jupiter only moves about every 12 to 13 months! So this is a pretty big deal.

June 14, 2013 – the Sun will join these others, in the dual air sign of Gemini.

What this means for the following astrological signs:

It will be a special relief for Librans, Geminis, and Sagittarians. This is because for weeks now the pile-up of planets has been crossing Librans’ 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battle and disunion. It will be especially nice for them when VENUS, the ruler of their chart, gets out of their most challenging house (8th) and goes into the “best” house, the 9th, which governs dharma, destiny, natural law, good luck and good fortune, pilgrimage, etc.

For Geminis the previous planetary congregation has been intensifying the energy in their house of loss, expenditure and isolation. As these 3 benefic planets get all moved into Gemini (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter…later in June, the Sun), they will feel more gregarious, communicative and outgoing.  This is also a nice placement for VIRGOS, as the planets will be in their 10th house of career, action, name and fame.

For those with Sagittarius Rising or Moon signs, this clump of planets had been traveling through your 6th house of worries, health problems, anxieties, delays, etc. Now they are just moving into your 7th house which governs marriage, marital partners, business and business partners, and travel. What a welcomed change!

Let’s not forget that Mercury will once again go into Retrograde motion on June 26 until July 20th. By now you know what that means, don’t you?  If not, just refer to some of my previous blog posts.   As usual please feel free to forward this blog post to others. I may be contacted to book personal readings at 303-473-9393 and healingevents@yahoo.com – thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer – http://www.vedicstarcharts.com is my website.

Planet Update! Mercury enters Leo 8/28; Venus enters Cancer 8/31 on a Blue Moon

August 28, 2012

So many things to share as the grahas (planets) dance into their next positions in the Cosmos!

Did any of you notice a particularly intense few days from August 12th through the 16th ? That is when Mars and Saturn (“great enemies” to one another) were having a “planetary war.”

Saturn had entered its sign of exaltation Libra, on August 3rd (by the way, it only JUST got of Sandhi or “the gap” on August 26th, so now has full power).  Well, after a long time together “duking it out” in the sign of Virgo, Mars once again is conjunct Saturn as they transit Libra, which Mars entered on August 13th.  They were traveling close enough together (within one degree of each other) from August 12 -16, for that to be considered “planetary war.” Not a fun time for either planet!

In a nutshell, that would not have been comfortable for any of the signs ruled by Mars (Aries, Scorpio) OR Saturn (Capricorn, Aquarius), much less their host sign of Libra, so if you have either an Ascendant or Moon sign of any of the above, you will know what I mean, from your own experience!

For Aries Ascendants and Moon signs these 2 planets are crossing your 7th house of business, partners and travel, so there could be some difficulties with relationships.  The natural competitive urges of those with this sign will be running into delays and obstacles, at least.

Right now, it is the Scorpio Rising or Moon signs, that I have the most sympathy for. Not only is the ruler of their chart Mars, traveling with arch enemy Saturn, but that is occurring in their 12th house of loss, expenditure, and isolation.  Scorpios are already by nature a somewhat secretive lot, and guard their privacy. You may see even less of your Scorpio friends during this time of going inward.  Remember that they also have the affliction of malefic RAHU crossing their sign, where it is debilitated (thus meaner than usual, even), which stays there until January 14, 2013.

On top of that Venus has been crossing Scorpio’s 8th house of “transformation, battles and disunion, and vulnerability). Venus stands for partners, plus rules Scorpio’s 7th house of spouse or partner, so it is just all shaping up to be a rather intense time….unless they use the 8th house (and 12th house) sexual energy as these transits can also provide a time of focusing on this type of sensuality and “bed pleasures.”  Considering all of the above, “yikes!” we say for the Scorpios!

VENUS MOVES INTO CANCER August 31st, the same day as the 2nd full moon this month, which makes it a “blue moon.”  There is no special Vedic Astrology significance to this occurrence, to my knowledge, just an interesting coincidence.  My calculations show that the Moon will be at its fullness point at approximately 8:00 a.m. MDT time (Colorado time) in the sign of Aquarius.

Cancerians will enjoy this transit of Venus, which owns their 11th house of income, as well as their 4th house of friends, self confidence, comforts of home, vehicles, property…bringing these items or qualities into their lives.  This is an improvement since it was crossing their house of loss in the prior transit.

It should prove a relief to the Scorpios too (see above!) as finally benefic Venus will be crossing their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, Natural Law, etc.

Venus in the Virgo Ascendants and Moon sign folks’ 11th house of gain and income, should help them in that area.

VENUS moves 7/31; SATURN moves 8/03!!!

July 30, 2012

VENUS – has been transitting its own sign of Taurus for an unusually long time, since 3/28/12. This is due to a retrograde period it had, while in this earth sign.

On 7/31/12 Venus moves into the air sign of Gemini. Thus the debilitated Ketu will no longer receive the advantage of the Neecha Bhanga yoga which Venus was providing to it. (a from of yoga which lightens a planet’s debilitated status.) You Taureans will now have to deal with whatever tricks this south node may bring your way now, though it will at least continue to heighten your intuition.

LIBRA Ascendent and Moon sign people will feel special relief…as the ruler of their  charts moves from the most vulnerable house of “transformation, battle and disunion” into their BEST house, the 9th …connecting them to good luck and good fortune, remedies, pilgrimage and just being able to land on their feet (finally) and have a sense of progress!

8/03/2012 – There is yet MORE emphasis on Librans, as SATURN, our slowest moving planet, now begins a 2 year+ transit of this air sign.   It will remain in this sign until it moves into water sign Scorpio on November 2, 2014.

Saturn was already IN Libra for a few months, i.e. November 14, 2011 until May 15, 2012, when it retrograded all the way back into Virgo where it has remained ever since. Those of you with Libra Rising or Moon signs…do you remember how you felt in that 6 months period? I’d be curious to hear from you as it’s a bit of a complicated situation.

What I mean is this: Saturn is actually Yogakara or “best planet” for Librans, and brings Raj Yoga or kingly benefits wherever it goes in the birth chart. So it should be a relief for it to leave your 12th house of loss and expenditure, isolation, foreign travel (well that part might have been fun!), to now enter your 1st house of self, body, personality and the direction of your life. It will bring the flavor of the good things from your 4th and 5th house (which it rules in your chart) TO you. It will also be in its sign of Exaltation in Libra, thus its power is as strong as it can possibly be.

However, we can not forget that Saturn also stands for “grief”, along with delays, obstacles, slow progress, hard work and responsibility. Those last two elements are something Librans actually quite like and embrace, along with the “being of service” quality of Saturn (so do Taurus Rising and Moon signs, but alas, Saturn moves here into your 6th house – nothing you cannot handle, of course).

Virgo Moon people – finally out of the middle of Sadhe Sati, thus some big relief to you!

Leo Moon people – completely out of the 7.5 year Sadhe Sati now, so time to celebrate and enjoy.

As always, I welcome your emails or phone calls, to set up a personal Vedic Astrology 90 minutes reading with me to see what these planet changes mean for you personally. Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, from the Sunshine Corner, healingevents@yahoo.com.  www.vedicstarcharts.com

MERCURY Retrograde 7/14-8/07/12

July 12, 2012

Our next Mercury retrograde period begins this Saturday night, July 14, at about 8:12 p.m. MDT. In Vedic Astrology, this occurs in the water sign of Cancer, a sign of sensitive emotions. With Mercury representing communications, some verbal interactions (or email) that occur in this period, could seem more emotionally charged than usual.  As always, Mercury retrograde gives us plenty of “opportunity” to be misunderstood! It’s important now to be more careful in analyzing any contracts one has to sign.

Adding to this transit, will be a period Mercury combust the Sun as well, thus more afflictions for this planet. Combustion period is from July 21st – August 5th.

Those with Virgo or Gemini Ascendants or Moon signs will feel it the most. When a planet is combust, those whose charts are ruled by it, may feel and act more restless, irritable, upset, and easily angered or annoyed than normal.  Thus you (and your friends!) have been warned to try and moderate those impulses.

Retrograde ends for Mercury on August 7th at 23:36 MDT.

In other starry news for July, the Sun joins Mercury in Cancer on July 15th.

Venus will enter Gemini on July 31st and transit in this air sign until August 31st.

To discover what all this means for your own individual chart, life and times, please contact me for a natal or yearly reading.

Thank you, Mary Stevenson, from the Sunshine Corner. healingevents@yahoo.com  website: www.vedicstarcharts.com
