August Planet Blog. Mercury Direct Now

August 1, 2019

Greetings, Star Followers! What a relief August should be, after the intense planet dance of July. Mercury just got out of Retrograde, the night of July 31st. Are you noticing that communications have improved already?

August 2 – PLANET PILE UP IN CANCER.  This movable water sign has been hosting Mars, the Sun and Venus. Now MERCURY moves in to join the party.  Mercury had briefly backed up into its own sign of Gemini for a couple of days, while it was still in retrograde motion. It was there about 48 hours, from late July 30 and moves to Cancer in the evening of August 2.  The planets crossing the sensitive sign of Cancer are doing mostly good things, from increasing financial gain to adding to the love of beauty, music and the arts, and possibly bringing in some romance, to increased communication, conversation and writing skills.

The signs ruled by Mercury are Gemini and Virgo. Both benefit from this transit, as it increases income for those with Virgo Ascendants and Moon signs, while increasing the Geminis’ already ample talents of connecting with others through conversation.  Very nice. Enjoy, Mercury-ruled friends!

August 8 – MARS moves out of its sign of Debilitation into Leo, which is a friend’s sign for this energetic planet.  Leos benefit now from more drive, ambition and courage (just need to watch out for hasty actions, impatience or some irritability). Cancers benefit to have less “heat” going on in their 1st house of self, body and personality. Mars is actually their BEST planet (as it is for the Leos), so they will enjoy benefits that can show up now in the form of funds that can be banked.  Aries and Scorpios are ruled by Mars. This transit is beneficial for both of these signs and those with either sign as their natal Rising or Moon signs, will enjoy the following: For Aries, this transit stimulates their desire to learn, teach, have success in speculative matters, or romance. For Scorpios, this is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame. Mars helps blast through obstacles here, and the Scorpios can go full steam ahead. Which they like, of course.

August 11 – JUPITER GOES DIRECT!! This is great news, as finally this benefic planet gets out of retrograde motion, where it has been since April 10, 2019.  Both Sagittarius and Pisces are ruled by Jupiter, so those with this Rising or Moon sign, will benefit and start to feel some happy progress in their goals and plans, which may have been bogged down for the past four months. Yea, team!  Jupiter has been traveling through the friendly sign of Scorpio for some time, and it will continue to bring blessings to those with this water sign Rising or Moon sign until it moves into its own sign of Sagittarius on November 4th.

August 15 – FULL MOON in Capricorn. This full moon occurs in the late degrees of this earth sign, just a little before 7:00 a.m. MDT, and then it moves into the next sign, Aquarius, just a little before 10:00 a.m. MDT. The brightness of the full Moon’s rays, with Capricorn behind it in the zodiac, displaying the qualities of practicality, and an earthy stability that is comforting to emotional Cancer, the sign ruled by the Moon. It is the 7th house for Cancerians, highlighting travel and partners.

August 16 – VENUS enters LEO. Those with Leo Rising or Moon signs, will continue to feel quite energized, since Venus rules their 3rd house of vitality and their 10th house of action and career. There’s nearly no stopping them now, and it’s a great time to enjoy some artistic pursuits, including photography.  The mix of Mars and Venus can serve to make Leos feel sexy, attractive and magnetic now.

August 17 – The SUN enters Leo, its own sign.  It joins its friend Mars there, plus Venus, but both of them will be Combust (traveling too close for comfort) the Sun. Mars plus Sun in Leo brings an excess of Pitta Dosha (for those of you who follow Ayurveda), i.e. too much heat. Beware the Leo temper, those of you who have to be around them now! Best for them to channel their strong leadership energy into projects at this time. They will feel strong and empowered, and more like themselves with the ruler of their charts sitting right there, if they can keep that Pitta “heat” under control (and possibly a tendency to be a bit “bossy” now!)

August 20 – Mercury goes Combust the Sun. This condition lasts until September 21. It causes the qualities of Mercury to be overshadowed. This shows up as lack of clarity in communications and affects communication devices, too (not as much as Mercury Retrograde does, though), less tactfulness and diplomacy when dealing with others and misunderstandings in the arena of commerce are possible.

August 25 – Mercury enters Leo, joining the Sun, Mars and Venus in this fire sign. Thus we see that the same party of planets that were earlier in the sign of Cancer, have now all moved onto Leo. This is primarily good news for those with Leo Rising and Moon signs. They will feel outgoing, more social,  and enjoy all the attention they will be receiving.

Please don’t feel left out, Capricorns and Aquarians! Your day will come. Here’s a preview of a positive change: Saturn goes Direct motion, getting out of its long period of being Retrograde on September 18th. You know by now that the ruler of your chart is the slowest moving planet, don’t you?

As usual, please keep in mind that in this short Blog, I can only lightly touch on the effects of each transit. To fully understand how these shifts will affect you, please call me for a reading.

November, 2018 Vedic Astrology Blog – Mercury Retrograde on Nov. 16

November 4, 2018

Wishing you the best of the planetary energies as we move into another month and the planets again play “musical signs” as they move from one position to another. Let’s see what the month of November holds for you. As usual, I’m available and delighted to provide more specific insights if you book individual readings with me.

11/05/18 – MARS moves from Capricorn which is its exaltation sign, into Aquarius. The biggest blessing of this move is that Mars gets away from the conjunction its had with malefic Ketu, south node of the Moon, and a real sticky, tricky player in the pantheon of planets.  This will be a big help to just about everybody!  When Mars is that strong (exaltation) it can be overpowering and just a little “too full of himself” – sure, he stands for energy, courage, drive, competition, initiative, but also on the other side of the coin, anger, irritation, impatience and temper. Ketu would have played a role in bringing out his worst qualities. Things can begin to cool off for Capricorn Rising Sign and Moon sign people, and the world as a whole. Mars represents the principle of war, after all.  Amazing, isn’t it, that this planet shift occurs the night before the election?  Cooler heads should prevail, and voters could get the credit, but Mars moving into a place where it can cool off some, is the planetary reason here.

11/11/18 – JUPITER combust the Sun.  This great benefic, representing good fortune, wisdom, happiness,  recently (last month) began its one year transit through Scorpio, a friend’s sign. As it travels a little too close to the Sun, it’s qualities can feel impinged upon a bit, affecting those with Sagittarius and Pisces Ascendants and Moon signs the most. It moves beyond this combust condition on 12/09/18.

11/16/18 – A big day with several planet changes:

VENUS goes direct motion. This is helpful to the Libras and Taureans, to begin to feel progress again, after the retrograde period which began 10/05/18.

Sun enters Scorpio, so it’s getting out of its debilitation status that it was in for a month in Libra. This is helpful for Leos, the sign ruled by the Sun, and brings more energy to Scorpios, along with an inclination to play some leadership role, which is great, as long as you don’t let the ego get too big. Sun energy can do that! But, for sure, enjoy that extra vitality now. Sun also stands for government, so it does seem like this one month transit can bring more balance to those holding ruling positions at various levels of government.

MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE today. Yes, here we go again. Mercury rules commerce, so deals you are involved with may find sudden snags popping up. Mercury rules communication, thus interpersonal misunderstandings can be the norm now, as well as glitches in communication equipment. Mercury rules friendship, so watch for getting too impatient with your friends, and don’t let inadvertent misunderstandings damage long standing positive connections. It’s a time for all to have more patience and really focus on being tactful, because Mercury does also rule diplomacy and tactfulness, so while it’s in retrograde motion, those qualities may be harder to come by naturally. This period lasts until 12/06/18. As usual, those with Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs, get impacted to the greatest degree.

11/21/18 – Mercury goes Combust the Sun, adding to the quicker trigger conversations, etc. described in the above Mercury retrograde paragraph. If you were already concerned about how those family Thanksgiving conversations were going to go, yeah. It will be even more challenging than usual with the above afflictions on Mercury! It will come out of combustion on 12/02/18.

11/22/18 – Now I don’t want to rain on your Thanksgiving dinner, but…we have a FULL MOON this very day! The height of the Moon’s fullness is reached close to 11:00 p.m. Mountain Time, so the energy is building up to and through that point.  This occurs in the sign of Taurus, where it is exalted. The Moon represents mind and emotions. Here in Taurus it is the strongest. Yet we all know how full moons pull on the emotional states of human beings, as research in hospitals, prisons and mental hospitals have shown. It’s a good house for those the Moon rules, Cancers, as it is their 11th house of gain and income. Yet if you add together, the energy typical in many Thanksgiving family gatherings, with Mercury retrograde and combust and now this full Moon stirring the deeper emotions and memories, there can be more drama this year than usual, in your family gatherings!

All the best, from the Sunshine Corner, here in Boulder, CO.  Tel: 720-448-3742.  Thank you for referrals you send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, recorded session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer,

Vedic Astrology Transit Blog for October, 2018

September 26, 2018

VENUS is strongly featured in this month’s blog. It is high dignity, traveling through its own sign of Libra. In addition JUPITER is on the move! Read all about it.  Please remember that I’m available to give individual and couples readings, and I greatly appreciate your referrals. Thank you!

10/05/18 – Venus goes RETROGRADE until 11/16/18. Whenever a benefic planet goes into retrograde motion, it becomes stronger in its ability to do give its positive results.  Those with Libra Rising or Moon signs will continue to enjoy these benefits for some months to come. Once Venus  goes direct on 11/16/18, it will not exit Libra to move into Scorpio until 1/01/2019, due to the time it takes to retrace its footsteps forward and progress to the next sign. So enjoy feeling warm, affectionate, attractive, creative and very interested in art, music, beauty, and creature comforts for the rest of this year, all you Librans!

Taurus is the other sign ruled by Venus. The sign of Libra represents the 6th house for Taureans, which is not as comfortable in its influence. This house represents worries, stress, anxiety, delays, enemies, rival, competitors. The most productive way to channel the energy of this long transit through Libra is through being of service to others, which the 6th house can also signify.

10/06/18 – MERCURY enters Libra, joining its friend Venus there. These two planets together manifest a great energy of playfulness, fun, and creative communication. People will enjoy being around you, as you radiate these qualities, Librans!

Mercury rules the signs of Virgo and Gemini. This placement also brings positive influences for both of them. For Geminis, Mercury will be in their 5th house of children, success, education and learning ability. For Virgos, it is their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication.  Geminis and Virgos will see these important areas of life get energized in a positive way during this transit period.

10/10/18 MERCURY gets out of Combustion, where it was traveling too close to the Sun for comfort since 9/05/18. As Mercury signifies diplomacy, tactfulness, friendliness and communication, these areas may have seemed somewhat clipped and distorted during this period. As usual, the ones who would have felt the effects the most, are those with Gemini or Virgo Ascendant or Moon signs. Everyone will enjoy Mercury being free of combustion now.

10/11/18  JUPITER MOVES INTO SCORPIO. This great benefic planet only changes signs every 12.5 to 13 months, so this is the biggest planet news of the month.  Now it moves into a friend’s sign, and will bring positive changes for individuals with Scorpio Rising or Moon signs.  It actually will be a relief for Libras when it moves, as it rules their 3rd and 6th house and has been bringing certain qualities of stress and obstacles to them for a year now.  Jupiter represents good luck, good judgment, wisdom, and happiness in any case, so doesn’t do so much damage, even ruling those houses for Libras. But for Scorpios, it brings the energy of their 2nd house (wealth, communication, family connections) and 5th house (children, education, success) to those with Scorpio Rising or natal Moons. This will be far better than the transit of their 12th house of loss, expenses and isolation that Scorpios have gone through for a year now.

The signs ruled by Jupiter are Sagittarius and Pisces. Now Jupiter will be transiting the 12th house for Sagittarians. This will afford them the opportunity or desire for foreign travel or “bed pleasures,” but also some seclusion that may be desired, or by contrast, feel like isolation. The 12th house also pertains to losses and expenditures so the year ahead for those with this Rising or Moon sign will be a time to stick to a budget as much as possible.  For Pisces Rising and Moon signs, Scorpio represents their 9th house of good luck and good fortune, dharma, destiny, remedies, pilgrimage and Natural Law. This is a big improvement over the 8th house of Transformation and Vulnerability, which they’ve gone through for a year now. Pisceans can expect some wonderful improvements in the year ahead!

10/17/18 – The SUN enters LIBRA, joining Mercury and Venus there.  This brings a helpful influence for income and gain to the Librans, as the Sun rules their 11th house. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, it is their 3rd house of projects, vitality and shorter journeys. The only thing to consider is that Libra happens to be the sign of Debilitation for the Sun, and thus it will be weaker than usual for the next 30 days.

10/21/18 – VENUS goes combust the Sun, but this will only last until 10/31. During this ten day period, Librans and Taureans may feel a little more easily irritated than we ordinarily see with their usual graceful, harmonious and peace-loving, stable natures.

10/24/18 – FULL MOON IN ARIES, sign of New Beginnings.  The Cancer Rising and Moon folks, being ruled by the Moon, will enjoy this one, as Aries represents their 10th house of action, career, name and fame.  It would be a good time to ask for a raise or receive some career acknowledgement.

10/26/18 – MERCURY enters Scorpio, bringing clarity of communications, plus income and gain to our water sign friends with this Rising or Moon sign traveling through their Vedic charts.  For Virgos, this is their 3rd house, increasing the number of projects they’ll be involved in, and this is a good time for writing. So was the previous transits of Mercury through Libra. For Geminis, this new Scorpio transit represents their 6th house, so it will be a time to reflect on or perhaps analyze from a new perspective the hassles, delays and obstacles that they may now have to deal with.

Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer,  healingevents@yahoo.com    http://www.vedicstarcharts.com

April Planet Transits: Mercury Retrograde Until 4/15/18

April 1, 2018

3/31/18 Brings us a Blue Moon, in Virgo.

What a nice way to segue into April. The energies of Moon in Virgo are calming, bringing more logic and deductive skills out in the collective mind. Virgos get to enjoy their 11th house ruler, bringing income and gain their way, and fulfillment of desire.

SATURN is such a slow moving planet, that it’s been some time since I’ve written about its travels and how that affects the signs it rules, Capricorn and Aquarius, so it seems only fair to focus on that some.  Since 10/26/17 Saturn has been crossing the sign of Sagittarius. This is the 12th house for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon charts.  This house is all about loss, expenses, isolation or seclusion. Caps do need to watch their spending now, and do their best to push themselves out into the crowd to mingle with fellow humans, to avoid feeling the worst impacts of loneliness, which this transit can bring.  Going on spiritual retreats is advised now, as that is an excellent way to utilize the potential for Enlightenment that a 12th house transit also provides.

For Aquarians, Saturn, the lord of their chart, is traveling through their 11th house, so it can bring income and gain their way, with less effort than previously, so it is a positive experience, for the most part.

SAGITTARIUS is playing host to Saturn. That can bring the ability to focus and work hard for those with this Rising or Moon sign.  Life may seem somewhat hectic, too, with all the responsibilities that Saturn brings. Since MARS has also been transitting this fire sign since March 7th, and Mars and Saturn are enemies, there may be feelings of being pushed in one direction and pulled in the opposite direction. Definitely a “hurry up, and then wait” sensation. Mars will remain in this sign until May 2nd, so the internal angst can ease up some then.

4/08/18 – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun. This improves communications and tactful interactions overall, and brings relief to those with either Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs, which are ruled by Mercury.

4/13/18 – The SUN enters Aries, where it experiences Exalted dignity.  The Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, will enjoy this exalted status, especially as Aries represents their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, remedies, pilgrimage and Natural Law.  For those with Aries Ascendants or Moon sign people, the Sun rules their 5th house of success, romance, and educations, highlighting these qualities in their lives now.

4/15/18 – MERCURY GOES DIRECT.  As usual, this brings relief to interpersonal communications. Did you notice any snags with technical equipment or anything related to correspondence during this time?  Virgos and Geminis can experience forward movement now, in their projects and career.

4/17/18 – SATURN goes retrograde. Its malefic qualities get stronger when it is in retrograde status. This can bring some feelings of depression or being down to those with Sagittarius Rising or especially with that Moon sign, as they are in Sadhe Sati at this time, and have to deal with obstacles, delays and hard work, during this cycle anyway. Now add the retrograde condition…so try to nurture and take care of yourselves at this time! It will stay retrograde until 9/06/18.

4/19/18 – VENUS enters Taurus, its own sign, where it is happy and powerful. This brings more comforts and luxuries to those with Taurus Rising or Moons, including the enjoyment of the arts, beauty or music. For Libras, also ruled by Venus, this is an 8th house transit…which is all about Transformation, and can also bring them some vulnerability. Venus remains here until May 14th.

Remember that for any difficult transit or dasha period (personal planetary cycle) there are ancient Vedic remedies known as Yagyas, which I can describe to you, to alleviate some layers of obstacles. These are most beneficial for “engineering the karma” away from the owner of the chart.

All the best, from the Sunshine Corner, here in Boulder, CO.  Tel: 720-448-3742.  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minutes, taped session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com

October Planets: SATURN moves at last, on the 26th

October 2, 2017

Autumn greetings to you all, from a chilly and rainy Boulder, Colorado. I hope you are feeling blessed as this new season arrives.

Let’s go right to the main attraction of planet movements this month, since this event occurs only every 2.5 years.

10/26 – SATURN MOVES INTO SAGITTARIUS!  My many friends with Moon in Scorpio will be so glad to feel that weight lifting off of them, after its 2.5 year stay in that sign. Oh, Saturn briefly entered Sagittarius earlier, from 1/26 to 6/20 but then went retrograde to once again tap dance on the Scorpio Moon minds and hearts, which the Moon represents. It will be a blessed relief for those of you with a natal Scorpio Moon to finally go into the last third of your 7.5 year Sadhe Sati period, i.e. just not as intense for you.

So what about us?, you Sag Moon people are thinking, yes? Well, at least Saturn rules your second house of wealth, so can bring some money to you — but it will be the hard way, through work and service, and you can expect it to come with delays, snags and obstacles. If your natal Moon is in Sagittarius, you may also experience some grief during the next few years. Sometimes that is not related to anything going on in the outer world. This placement can simply bring internal angst and feelings of isolation, etc.  Sadhe Sati gives an opportunity to look deep within at what really matters in this life, and become more detached and philosophical. Try to use this period to your advantage, in terms of spiritual growth.

And now back to our regular order of business:

10/09 – VENUS enters Virgo. It is in this Earth sign that Venus experiences debilitation, i.e. not as strong here. Thus the signs it rules, Taurus and Libra, will  not feel as robust as usual, perhaps. Especially for the Libras, it is not such a good placement as Virgo represents your twelfth house of loss, expenditure and isolation. But it can be a good time to go inward and perhaps attend a meditation course or retreat. For Taureans, it is a good house placement at least, as the fifth house connects you to children, lovers, success in the relative world or speculative matters, plus education.

10/12 – JUPITER goes combust the Sun. This great benefic recently entered the air sign of Libra (on 9/11).  It rules the sign of Pisces, so this placement in the Pisceans’ eighth house can bring vulnerability on the physical level and transformation. Parts of life as you knew it will undergo changes, ready or not, Pisces friends. For the Sagittarians, the other sign it rules, this placement is in your eleventh house of income and gain, so it’s a better scene for you. Take advantage of this placement to ask for a raise, or buy a property, for Jupiter also owns you fourth house of real estate. For the host sign of Libra, well, Jupiter does not rule your best houses. It can bring you some energy, but also some stress and worry. Also, you will have to be careful not to put on extra weight for the year that Jupiter will be in your first house!  Being combust the Sun makes a planet more irritable and not able to give its best significations. This condition lasts for Jupiter until November 9th.

10/13 – MARS enters Virgo. Here it joins Venus, the Sun and Mercury. So it’s a four planet party for the Virgos. Mars adds more ambition, energy and action to the mix, but also, since it owns the eighth house for Virgos, some vulnerability. Be careful of doing things too fast, which can lead to accidents. Also try to avoid being more quarrelsome than usual, as Mars can represent anger and irritability. Mars rules Aries and Scorpio. Virgo is the eleventh house of gain and income for the Scorpios so good for you, in that department. For Aries, this represents your sixth house of health problems, stress and worry, so take measures to maintain your health, and meditate for relaxation and to avoid the stress this period may bring.

10/13 – MERCURY also moves a little later on this day, into a friend’s sign, Libra.  This is a mixed blessing for the Libras, as governing your ninth house of good luck and good fortune, remedies, pilgrimage and natural law, it can bring those qualities to enjoy in practical ways in your every day life. However, it also governs your twelfth house of loss and expenses. Thus you will have a mutual exchange of houses now, with the lord of your chart, Venus, sitting in the twelfth house and ruler of the twelfth house, Mercury, in your first house of self, body and direction of your life. You can make a lot of spiritual progress now if you focus on that. The other choices are foreign travel or “bed pleasures”!

For Geminis, Mercury here is in the fifth house of success, education, children, so it’s a nice placement for you. For Virgo, the other sign ruled by Mercury, this is your second house of family, wealth and communication, so also a good placement.

10/17 – The SUN enters Libra today. This is its sign of debilitation where it is weakest. For the Leos, which the Sun rules, this represents the third house of short journeys, projects, and vitality. It’s not a bad placement and you will still feel fairly ambitious. For the Libras, this planet rules your house of gain, so it can act in a positive fashion to bring you better income or gain of any item for the next month.

10/26 – As discussed above, SATURN enters Sagittarius.

10/31 – HAPPY HALLOWEEN! MERCURY goes non-combust the Sun, so Geminis and Virgos will enjoy some relief from that condition, and communication for everyone should improve.  Mercury had been combust since September 21. May the planets now bring you many “treats” and fewer tricks!

Blessings of the planets to you, from the Sunshine Corner in Boulder, CO.  Tel. 928-284-4060.  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minute, taped session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com. vedicstarcharts.com

May Planets: Mercury Goes Direct

April 29, 2017

The merry month of May brings some relief on the starry horizon. We’ll be going down from three retrograde planets, to only two of them, for a while longer.

May 3 – MERCURY gets out of retrograde.  Communication and devices dealing with same, should go more smoothly now.  Those with Rising signs and Moon signs ruled by this planet (Virgos and Geminis) will especially enjoy this shift, and feel more progress with this forward movement.

May 14 – The SUN enters earth sign Taurus.  This represents the 10th house of career for the Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, so this will still be a positive transit for them. Since the Sun also represents “government” things can now calm down some after the thirty days of its passage through fire sign Aries.  Ideas from calmer heads may be able to reign now.  It is also a positive transit for those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, bringing friends and supporters closer to them.

May 26 – MARS enters air sign Gemini, bringing in new energy and drive to help achieve their ambitions. Just take heed, Gemini Rising and Moon sign friends, that you don’t let the energy slide to the negative side of the Mars spectrum which is anger, impatience, irritability and restlessness.

Mars 30 – VENUS goes into fire sign Aries, finally leaving its sign of Exaltation Pisces where it had a nice, long stay, due to a period of being retrograde.  This position is actually better for the Libra Rising and Moon sign people, as Venus will now be traveling through their 7th house of partners, business, marriage and travel.  That’s a lot better than the previous sign which is their 6th house of stress, worries and health issues. Enjoy the change, Librans.   Those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, which are also ruled by Venus, will now have a 12th house transit going on. That means the ruler of their charts is crossing the house of loss and expenditure, so they have to watch their spending. Foreign travel could be another possibility, as well as the desire for solitude. They may also feel a bit isolated, on the other hand.

May 31 – MARS goes combust the Sun.  This state of traveling too close to the fiery energy of the Sun makes any planet “angry” and thus not able to give us the full positive side of its qualities.  Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio, thus those born with these Rising or Moon signs will want to take care to get enough rest to be able to reflect on situations calmly, vs. going off in some impulsive reactions.

Here we can see that there are certainly fewer planetary disturbances than last month. Only Saturn and Jupiter remain in retrograde motion, after Mercury goes Direct on May 3rd.  Jupiter remains retrograde until June 9th, so we’ll have more discussion on that influence, next month.

This blog is meant to provide just a taste of possible effects from the transits, the changing conditions of the planets in the Vedic Sky. For a more complete understanding of your own chart, as usual, you are invited to contact me and schedule a full reading.

Just reach out to me here in the Sunshine Corner in Sedona, AZ.  Tel. 928-284-4060.  Thank you for any referrals you may send me.  I offer many services such as: natal chart readings, yearly updates, couples compatibility or astrocartography (location) readings.  If you would like to book an appointment for yourself, or as a gift for a family member or dear one, please call me, and we can schedule a 90 minute, recorded session.  Thank you, Mary Stevenson, Vedic Astrologer, healingevents@yahoo.com. vedicstarcharts.com

NOVEMBER STARS: Election Edition by Mary Stevenson

October 31, 2016

Below you will find my regular report on planet movements for this upcoming month, but first a discussion of a presidential candidate’s birth chart, which may be of interest:

Donald Trump – and why his planets show it is doubtful he could ever become president. It is a very interesting study, with some unusual findings. I am not taking a partisan stand here, just explaining what I see in his chart, including a major shift into a new maha dasha for him right at the time of the election.

Finding his birth data easily online, his Vedic birth chart shows a Leo Rising, with Mars in that first house. This explains a lot about his reddish complexion and hair color, in fact.  On the positive end of the scale, Mars can bring the owner of such a chart energy, courage, being very active, having ambition and drive, and initiative to get things done…especially when added to the fact that the Sun, ruler of his chart, is in the 10th house of power, name and fame. But wait, there’s more!  Mars is his BEST (or yogakaraka) planet and does explain his many successes with real estate as well.

On the negative end of the scale, Mars gives anger, rash behavior, irritability and quarrelsomeness. This Mars is also aspecting (looking at/throwing its energy on) his Moon (which stands for mind and emotions) which sits in his 4th house of friends, supporters, mother, and self-confidence.  This Moon is in terrible shape, being in its sign of debilitation and – the biggest issue of all – HE WAS BORN ON THE VERY DAY OF A TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE!!! This casts a lifelong shadow on his thinking and reasoning process.  It makes his feelings hyper-sensitive, as we have seen demonstrated by his reaction to the least slight or insult he may feel.

Mr. Trump’s Sun (ruler of his chart) sits in fixed earth sign of Taurus (ALL of the main considerations of his chart are fixed signs, making him very stubborn), in the 10th house of power with malefic Rahu, the north node of the moon and legendary head of the cosmic serpent. Since this shadow planet is called “the seizer” this explains a LOT of Mr. Trump’s behavior, even his own admissions on that video of how he cannot resist grabbing women.  Rahu surely did grab onto some name and fame, and personal power for him – at least for its 18 year reign. But that is coming to a quick close here.

My Vedic Astrology teacher taught us that at the end of its 18 year personal planetary cycle in an individual’s chart it “takes away all that it has given during that time” – I have seen that befall long time clients of mine, in very tangible terms.  Always at the end of Rahu’s cycle, the antardasha (second level of dasha) is Mars – so his anger issues are greatly activated now.

WHEN DOES IT END?  If his birth time is correct, his Rahu maha dasha (major cycle) would end on November 14th, just days after the election.  But we have already seen a lot of his fame falling away in terms of the many women coming forward to testify about his treatment of them, which they were afraid to bring up until this time. They are correct; when Rahu was in full power, they would have probably found no ears to listen. But now, the waning of the Rahu influence has begun.

Since we are all here to learn and grow, and as souls choose these paths that we have laid out for ourselves, I marvel at how much Mr. Trump’s personality so dislikes “losing” or those he considers to be “losers.” What an irony then, as we most likely will see him “LOSE” something he seems to have really wanted. Or does he?

No tears need be shed for Mr. Trump. He goes next into a Jupiter maha dasha. His Jupiter is placed in the second house of wealth and “communication” – the rumors we hear of him getting his own television network are probably true. He will not stop talking, though that talking may be toned down a lot. Jupiter rules his house of “other people’s money” and sits in his house of wealth, so there will still be no lack of financial success for him.

So there we have it. To sum up: the ego of the Leo rising (out of control since malefic Rahu sits on it and creates chaos in many of his actions); the debilitated and totally eclipsed Moon, causing emotional hyper-sensitivity. Mars in the first house causing the anger issues and aspecting his natal Moon as well, tell the story. By the way, it would be fascinating to have an inside look at his relationship with his mother, which appears quite karmic to me. But that would take too long to go into here.  I do not feel that America would benefit to have anyone born on a total Lunar eclipse, with such emotional instability issues related to that, becoming our Commander in Chief.  We shall see, but I simply do not feel it is likely…as Rahu takes away what it has given him, for the past 18 years.

Now back to our regular programming and a look at the movements of the planets for November:

11/06 – VENUS moves into Sagittarius, bringing those with this Rising or Moon sign more enjoyment, pleasure and a desire for entertainment. There can be a tendency to be over-indulgent for some Sags now. Venus rules Taurus and Libra. It now goes into the 8th house for our Taurus friends, and that can increase a feeling of being vulnerable or just having to go through some uncomfortable changes. For Librans, it’s their 3rd house so that’s fine; they may get more involved in creative, artistic projects now.

11/08 – Mercury enters Scorpio. This can help bring in some income for those with Scorpio Rising or Moon charts, but also some changes as it rules their 8th house, too, in addition to the 11th house of gain and income. For those ruled by Mercury, Virgos and Geminis, it works out like this:  it’s the 3rd house for Virgos, so they will keep busy working away. For Geminis, it represents the 6th house of stress and worry, so not a positive a transit for them.

11/15 – The SUN enters Scorpio for a one month transit. Too bad Saturn is still transiting there as those two are not comfortable hanging out that closely.  Scorpios, just keep working hard and the Sun, ruling your 10th house of career, power, name and fame, can be helpful here to get things done. Just watch out for getting overheated on any level.

11/21 – MERCURY gets out of combustion with the Sun, which it has been in since October 7th.  This brings relief to Virgos, Geminis and to interpersonal communication across the board.

11/23 – SATURN goes combust the Sun.  Your turn, Capricorns and Aquarians, to “feel the burn” as your ruling planet travels too close to this fiery orb.  Keep your usual cool, and try and not and let it get under your skin. This period lasts until December 26th.

11/28 – MERCURY moves into Sagittarius. It joins its friend Venus there to add to the party for the Sags.  For Virgos, it is your 4th house that the ruler of your chart will now be traveling through. That works to connect you to friends and supporters. For Geminis, it is your 7th house of partners, travel and business, so will be an improvement over the previous transit.

October Planets: MERCURY Returns to Virgo

October 2, 2016

It’s nice to have some improved planetary news to share this month.

As we know, Mercury got out of retrograde on September 21st. However it has taken all this time to regain the ground it had to back track over during the retrograde period. So, finally:

October 3rd – Mercury re-enters Virgo, where it is very happy as this is its own sign, even gaining Exalted status at certain degrees of this Earth sign. Since Mercury governs communications, commerce and trade, and communications equipment, this will be a valuable improvement for all of the above. In addition, those ruled by Mercury can take heart as they will be feeling much better now: Virgos and Geminis.

October 7th – Mercury will be traveling too close to the Sun once more, thus some of its fine qualities such as logic, tactfulness and diplomacy will feel “combust the Sun.” This period lasts until November 21st.

October 11th -JUPITER gets out of combustion with the Sun. That is some more good news!  The combustion period for this great benefic began on September 11th and caused some waves in our daily lives, especially when it was at the exact degree of the Sun around September 25th. There were several rough days there with Jupiter’s significations made toast by this proximity to the Sun, including happiness, good judgment, intuition, good fortune. Those ruled by Jupiter should take delight in this change now: Sagittarius and Pisces Rising and Moon signs.

October 13th – VENUS enters Scorpio.  It was happy in the previous sign Libra (which it owns), but this will also be a good placement for those ruled by this benefic: Libra and Taurus Rising and Moon signs.  Scorpios benefit too, and will feel more affectionate and romantic now. They just will have to watch their spending.

October 16 – the SUN enters Libra. In this air sign it is debilitated, or in its weakest sign, thus Leos may feel less energy for a thirty day period now (they are ruled by the Sun).  It does not bring harm to Librans, as the Sun rules their house of gain and income, thus their cash flow should be good, but it’s a wise idea for them to watch their tempers now, which is normally not an issue. The Sun can make them feel “overheated.”

October 21 – MERCURY in Libra.  Now Mercury joins the Sun in Libra and that is a mixed blessing for the Librans (some gain/some loss), due to the houses it rules for them.  It is a nice position for the Virgos (their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication) and the Geminis (their 5th house of success, education, and children).

October 31st – MARS enters Capricorn, its sign of exaltation on this Halloween day.  What kind of tricks or treats will it bring there?  It’s nice for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon signs as long as they don’t let their ambition and drive now overpower them with any impatience or quarrelsomeness.  Mars can give rise to accidents, and it will be plenty strong at this time, so depending on which house it rules in your own birth chart, my suggestion is to watch for speeding now and don’t run over any trick-or-treaters! To learn more about how the planet transits are affecting your own life, give me a call to set up a reading.

Planet Moves for January 2016 – Mercury Retrograde 1/05-25/16; RAHU & Ketu Move 1/08

January 2, 2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR GREETINGS TO ALL!

Let’s see what the Vedic stars hold in store for us in this new year.  As always, you can contact me at 928-284-4060 if you would like to set up a personal reading to see what secrets your own chart reveals for the year ahead.

January begins with a fairly peaceful line up of planets.  Mercury is in Capricorn (a friend’s sign); Jupiter is in Leo (a friend’s sign); Mars is in Libra, and it was a big improvement when it moved there on December 15, getting out of that conjunction with Rahu in Virgo.  Yes, Virgos still have to contend with Rahu (north node of the Moon, and a tricky malefic) but only until January 8th!  Likewise, Pisces has the other half of this “cosmic serpent” crossing this compassionate water sign until that same date. More on this big move, below.  Venus joined its friend Saturn in Scorpio on December 25, bringing some ease to the Scorpios who have been weighed down by hard work taskmaster Saturn for some time.  This is an easier line up than we’ve had for a while, for most signs. However….here come the changes, for these planets are always moving!

1/05/2016 MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE.  We all get affected by this condition of the planet that governs communication, diplomacy, tactfulness and commerce, but those with Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs always feel it the most. Mercury will go Direct motion again on 1/25/2016.

Be cautious about the usual snags in communication, misunderstandings and the like now, and the frustrations they cause.

Thus during this time things may appear to be “going backwards” in your life, or feelings of being misunderstood or miscommunications may occur. ANYTHING that deals with communication may be affected, from my experience.

From some error on your bank statement, to telecommunications equipment, faxes, computers not working right, one must be prepared for glitches. Be very vigilant if you plan to prepare your income tax returns during this time. “Avert the danger before it arises” can be an apt phrase here for laying low through this time of frustration. It’s not YOUR fault, and in many cases there’s not much you can do about it, so determine to ride the storm out, resorting to your clever sense of humor to make it through those big waves.

1/06/2016 – Speaking of retrogrades! Tonight the great benefic planet Jupiter goes retrograde motion.  This “appearance of going backwards” as seen from our vantage point on Earth, actually means that Jupiter’s influence gets stronger. That is what happens with the benefic planets. Their benefic qualities actually get stronger in such a period. The two signs ruled by Jupiter, though, will feel different results.  Sagittarius Rising and Moon sign people get the best of the deal, since Jupiter is crossing their 9th (best) house of good luck, good fortune, remedies, pilgrimage, dharma, natural law, higher education, religion and philosophy. As with all retrograde periods, they get an opportunity to revisit some previous issue, not totally resolved in the past.  The planets make sure that we cannot run and hide from working out situations that our soul wishes to learn and grow from. Pisces Ascendant and Moon sign people have the lord of their chart crossing the 6th house.  That house deals with health problems, mental stress, anxiety, delays, enemies, rivals and competitors. Some of the opportunities for growth that life presents to these compassionate individuals is to transcend the need to be a “rescuer” and not let people lean on them and constantly drain them. That ends up helping no one, in the end. Thus Pisceans can sometimes end up being “their own worst enemy” especially with a transit like this.  This retrograde period for Jupiter lasts until May 9th.

1/08/2016  Mercury goes Combust the Sun.  It remains in this condition until 1/19/16.

By now, you may know how this goes: watch your temper and tendency for impatience or irritability, which may get imbalanced now. This cycle in which a planet travels too close to the Sun makes it feel grouchy, angry, more reactive than normal.  Combustion occurs more frequently for Mercury than any other planet, because it habitually travels closer to the Sun. Nonetheless, you may feel the effects of just being more sensitive or reactive to things you normally would let pass. Employ meditation practice to maintain your equilibrium and peace of mind during these cycles. Mercury rules the skin and  nerves, so being combust the Sun may cause imbalances in either of these areas now.

1/08/2016 – RAHU AND KETU CHANGE SIGNS ONLY EVERY 18 MONTHS. This is the day that Rahu moves backwards (the only direction the Nodes ever move) into Leo and Ketu moves backwards into Aquarius.

This brings big relief to the Virgo and Pisces Ascendants and Moon Sign people in the Sidereal Zodiac upon which Vedic Astrology is based. Congratulations. You survived the last year and a half of some ups and downs, tricky, unexpected events, even chaos, or in the case of the Pisceans, hindrance, embarrassment or just not feeling “seen.”  All that gets alleviated for you now.

For LEOS, since you already have benefic Jupiter crossing your sign, this should not be so bad.  Because the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, are “upagrahas” i.e. “planets with no body,” they absorb the energies of any planets with which they may be conjunct during a transit.  In other words, Rahu will be soaking up some of the benefic qualities of Jupiter! Nice.  Leo Rising and Moon sign people will thus feel more passion and intuition, a greater need for excitement and transformation, but that can be a good thing. Keep in mind, please, that Jupiter does move out of Leo and into Virgo on 8/11/16. Then you will have to deal with Rahu alone in your sign.

Aquarians must utilize the energy of Ketu now for going within, doing work behind the scenes, and having a more spiritual focus for the next 18 months.  That should be right up your alley.  There may be sudden “aha” moments, epiphanies of cosmic insights, if you cultivate an openness to receiving that type of guidance.

1/14/2016  The SUN moves into Capricorn for its one month voyage in this movable Earth sign.  The Sun typically is not so happy in this sign ruled by its enemy, Saturn.  It cannot feel as expansive as its nature would like here. Leo Rising and Moon sign people will find this time of year somewhat of a challenge as the ruler of their charts crosses their 6th house of delays, enemies, rivals, competitors, stress and health issues. So take care of yourself and have patience, as “this, too, shall change.”

1/14/2016 MERCURY backs up into Sagittarius, during its retrograde motion. You may get the opportunity to finish something important that you started in that earlier transit, but didn’t get to finish at that time, or get to the root of a problem that you had to put off dealing with before.  This represents “good houses” for both signs ruled by Mercury. For Virgos, it is the 4th house and for Geminis, it is the 7th, so that should help some, even though you are still dealing with the retrograde status of the lord of your charts.

1/18/2016 Benefic VENUS joins its friend Mercury in the fire sign Sagittarius.  The “Sags” get to feel all happy, playful and attractive for this period. Communication and social events will be the hallmark of this transit for you.

VENUS Enters Libra Today, November 29th

November 29, 2015

December is nearly here! We shall examine the story that the movement of planets in the Vedic sky spells out for next month, but first a nice reminder:

11/29/15  – This evening benefic Venus moves happily into its own sign of LIBRA.  All those with Libra Moon or Rising signs in the Vedic Astrology system will be feeling so much better, as the ruler of your birth chart leaves its nearly four week transit of your 12th house of loss and expenditures, in its sign of debilitation, no less, and traveling with that rough character Rahu (and Mars as well).  By tomorrow you will begin to feel attractive, sexy, warm, affectionate and a lot more sociable than you have felt all this month. What a relief, eh?

VENUS also rules fixed earth sign, Taurus.  This new transit won’t be quite as pleasurable for our Taurus friends, as Libra represents your 6th house of worry, stress, enemies, rivals, competitors and health problems.  So there can be a “too much to do and not enough time to do it” pressure type of feeling now.  Try and enjoy the holidays, even so.  Venus does not change signs again until right on Christmas day, when it enters Scorpio – this will be a good position for both the Librans and Taureans.  Scorpios will likely enjoy that shift as well, on 12/25.

12/05/15 – MERCURY moves into Sagittarius late this night. In fact it will occur 12/06 for those in the eastern and central time zones.  For both of the signs that Mercury rules, Virgo and Gemini, this new position represents good houses for you.  Geminis will feel more outgoing and less stressed or worried now.   Virgos will be connecting with friends and supporters more, as well as enjoying the comforts of home.  Both will be glad that Mercury now pulls away from its conjunction with Saturn and the Sun where it has been in Scorpio.  However, Mercury remains too close to the Sun (combustion) until 12/13/15.

12/15/15 – The Red Planet, Mars now moves into Libra.  This is a beneficial change, to also get Mars away from its conjunction with Rahu that has been going on in Virgo for some time.  These two planets together contribute to turmoil, warlike actions, chaos, and some of the recent acts of terrorism the world has had to suffer through lately.  Librans will feel energized once Mars is in their sign.  For a ten day period both Venus and Mars in Libra will really contribute to some fun times for you! It’s also a big relief for the Virgos to have Mars move off their 1st house of self and body.

12/16/15 – SATURN GOES NON-COMBUST.  This is a very good thing, as Saturn and the Sun are enemies and Saturn does not like the heat that the Sun brings its way, when they travel too closely together.  I feel that this condition (since November 12th) has also contributed to various protests, unrest among workers and general unrest in various segments of the population during this period. Capricorn and Aquarius Rising and Moon sign people will be breathing a sigh of relief, and just able to breathe easier as life will get a bit less problematic now.

12/16/15 – That same day, the Sun moves into fire sign Sagittarius.  This is a friend’s sign for the Sun, so it is comfortable here. This is helpful for Leos, the sign ruled by the Sun.  This position represents their 5th house of romance, success, education, learning ability and children so any of these areas of life may get enlivened for the Leos now.  It’s fine for the “Sag-es” as well, as this bring 9th house energy (good luck and good fortune) to them, plus a feeling of personal power as the Sun takes its one month stroll across this sign.

12/25/15 – MERRY CHRISTMAS!  As mentioned above, VENUS moves into Scorpio, at around 2:45 a.m. Mountain Time.  This is the 2nd house for Libras, thus it may increase your cash flow and family time. This is the 7th house for Taureans, thus travel is highlighted now as well as feeling close to your romantic partner.  Scorpios enjoy an increase in their usual charisma and powers of attraction now.

12/26/15 – Mercury enters Capricorn.  This is a mixed bag for the Capricorn Rising and Moon sign people. It can bring that 9th house blessing of a certain amount of good luck, but the 6th house energy that Mercury represents for you can bring some stress, as well. At least you will feel more talkative than usual and communications will be emphasized now, as you employ your problem-solving abilities. For the Virgos and Geminis who are ruled by this planet – the position is nice for the Virgos, as Mercury crosses your 5th house of children, success in relative matters or speculation; it’s easy to learn new things, etc. But for the Geminis, this is your 8th house of vulnerability and transformation so try to keep your chin up and make up your mind to not take things personally!  At least it may be a good time for deep meditations.

Working on my second book will keep me busy well into 2016.  Remember to keep up with my latest author blogs, too, on my website marystevensonauthor.com  – It’s not too early to think about your New Year’s resolutions. I hope that one of them may be having your yearly chart reading update!  The celestial insights that this 5,000 year old system of Astrology has to offer, cannot be over-emphasized. Timing is everything, as the old saying goes, and Jyotish or Vedic Astrology examines the trends of time in detail for you specifically.
