Vedic Astrology Transit Blog for October, 2018

10/05/18 – Venus goes RETROGRADE until 11/16/18. Whenever a benefic planet goes into retrograde motion, it becomes stronger in its ability to do give its positive results.  Those with Libra Rising or Moon signs will continue to enjoy these benefits for some months to come. Once Venus  goes direct on 11/16/18, it will not exit Libra to move into Scorpio until 1/01/2019, due to the time it takes to retrace its footsteps forward and progress to the next sign. So enjoy feeling warm, affectionate, attractive, creative and very interested in art, music, beauty, and creature comforts for the rest of this year, all you Librans!

Taurus is the other sign ruled by Venus. The sign of Libra represents the 6th house for Taureans, which is not as comfortable in its influence. This house represents worries, stress, anxiety, delays, enemies, rival, competitors. The most productive way to channel the energy of this long transit through Libra is through being of service to others, which the 6th house can also signify.

10/06/18 – MERCURY enters Libra, joining its friend Venus there. These two planets together manifest a great energy of playfulness, fun, and creative communication. People will enjoy being around you, as you radiate these qualities, Librans!

Mercury rules the signs of Virgo and Gemini. This placement also brings positive influences for both of them. For Geminis, Mercury will be in their 5th house of children, success, education and learning ability. For Virgos, it is their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication.  Geminis and Virgos will see these important areas of life get energized in a positive way during this transit period.

10/10/18 MERCURY gets out of Combustion, where it was traveling too close to the Sun for comfort since 9/05/18. As Mercury signifies diplomacy, tactfulness, friendliness and communication, these areas may have seemed somewhat clipped and distorted during this period. As usual, the ones who would have felt the effects the most, are those with Gemini or Virgo Ascendant or Moon signs. Everyone will enjoy Mercury being free of combustion now.

10/11/18  JUPITER MOVES INTO SCORPIO. This great benefic planet only changes signs every 12.5 to 13 months, so this is the biggest planet news of the month.  Now it moves into a friend’s sign, and will bring positive changes for individuals with Scorpio Rising or Moon signs.  It actually will be a relief for Libras when it moves, as it rules their 3rd and 6th house and has been bringing certain qualities of stress and obstacles to them for a year now.  Jupiter represents good luck, good judgment, wisdom, and happiness in any case, so doesn’t do so much damage, even ruling those houses for Libras. But for Scorpios, it brings the energy of their 2nd house (wealth, communication, family connections) and 5th house (children, education, success) to those with Scorpio Rising or natal Moons. This will be far better than the transit of their 12th house of loss, expenses and isolation that Scorpios have gone through for a year now.

The signs ruled by Jupiter are Sagittarius and Pisces. Now Jupiter will be transiting the 12th house for Sagittarians. This will afford them the opportunity or desire for foreign travel or “bed pleasures,” but also some seclusion that may be desired, or by contrast, feel like isolation. The 12th house also pertains to losses and expenditures so the year ahead for those with this Rising or Moon sign will be a time to stick to a budget as much as possible.  For Pisces Rising and Moon signs, Scorpio represents their 9th house of good luck and good fortune, dharma, destiny, remedies, pilgrimage and Natural Law. This is a big improvement over the 8th house of Transformation and Vulnerability, which they’ve gone through for a year now. Pisceans can expect some wonderful improvements in the year ahead!

10/17/18 – The SUN enters LIBRA, joining Mercury and Venus there.  This brings a helpful influence for income and gain to the Librans, as the Sun rules their 11th house. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, it is their 3rd house of projects, vitality and shorter journeys. The only thing to consider is that Libra happens to be the sign of Debilitation for the Sun, and thus it will be weaker than usual for the next 30 days.

10/21/18 – VENUS goes combust the Sun, but this will only last until 10/31. During this ten day period, Librans and Taureans may feel a little more easily irritated than we ordinarily see with their usual graceful, harmonious and peace-loving, stable natures.

10/24/18 – FULL MOON IN ARIES, sign of New Beginnings.  The Cancer Rising and Moon folks, being ruled by the Moon, will enjoy this one, as Aries represents their 10th house of action, career, name and fame.  It would be a good time to ask for a raise or receive some career acknowledgement.

10/26/18 – MERCURY enters Scorpio, bringing clarity of communications, plus income and gain to our water sign friends with this Rising or Moon sign traveling through their Vedic charts.  For Virgos, this is their 3rd house, increasing the number of projects they’ll be involved in, and this is a good time for writing. So was the previous transits of Mercury through Libra. For Geminis, this new Scorpio transit represents their 6th house, so it will be a time to reflect on or perhaps analyze from a new perspective the hassles, delays and obstacles that they may now have to deal with.

March 2017 Planet Positions – Venus goes retrograde 3/04/17

We are all ready for Spring, right?  Before I get into the new planet movements for March, in case you are on Twitter, please follow me @VedicStarExpert – hope to see you there! What a nice change, to get away from February, which brought the two eclipses.

3/01/2017 – MARS moved into its own sign of Aries where it is very strong. It gives the Aries Rising and Moon chart people much energy, drive and ambition. Just watch out for some rashness, impatience and temper issues. For Scorpio, which Mars also rules, this represents your 6th house of enemies, rivals and competitors, helping you overcome same.  You may have to confront some delays, until Mars moves on 4/12/17.

3/04/17 – VENUS goes retrograde. It remains in its sign of Exaltation, Pisces. This brings happiness to the Pisces and Taurus Rising and Moon signs. Still some worries for the Libras, since this is your 6th house.  It will go forward into direct motion on 4/14/17. It stays in Pisces until 5/30/17.

3/10/17 – MERCURY enters Pisces, joining its friend Venus there.  In this sign, Mercury’s dignity is “debilitated” meaning it feels weakest in this sign. However, the fact that it is sitting with an Exalted planet grants “Neechabhanga yoga” which contributes to cancellation of debilitation. At least Pisces does represent very good houses for both signs that it rules, Virgo and Gemini.

3/14/17 – The SUN enters Pisces now as well, for a one month stay. For Leos, the sign that the Sun rules, this unfortunately is your 8th house of vulnerability and transformation, thus not the most comfortable transit. Already Venus in this sign has been multiplying how vulnerable you may feel, since it’s been in Pisces.

3/20/17 – VENUS goes combust the Sun. This is a brief, ten day period, ending on 3/30/17.  Times of combustion bring a tendency for feeling more irritated than you normally would, with less tactfulness, for the signs ruled by Venus, which are Taurus and Libra.

3/21/17 – MERCURY gets out of the combustion period that it has been in since 2/16/17,  bringing relief to those ruled by Mercury, which are Gemini and Virgo, and improved communication in general.

3/26/17 – MERCURY enters Aries. Here, it is out of its debilitated status so communication for everyone should improve. For Geminis, this represents your 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire, so enjoy it while it lasts! For Virgos, however, this is your 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, which may be experienced on either the physical level, the feeling level or in terms of your business, since  for you Mercury also rules your 10th house of career. It will stay here all the way to June 3rd, due to a Mercury Retrograde period coming up next month.

The Exciting Planet Dance of July, 2015

Ready for the Full Moon in Sagittarius? 

As I write, the Moon is nearly totally full in this dual fire sign, appearing opposite the Sun (and Mars) in Gemini.  It was so lovely last night as I stepped outside to see the magical clouds of the Arizona sky forming a silvery platform beneath this shining luminary.

Those with Sagittarius Ascendents or natal Moon signs in the Vedic Astrology system may be feeling a bit tender or even moody with the Moon crossing this sign now, for it does rule their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, enlivening some of those feelings in their experience for this 2.5 day sojourn of the Moon here. 

The Moon rules the water sign of Cancer.  As it travels through the 6th house from Cancer now, those with this Rising or Moon sign may feel pressured with so many details to take care of, accompanied by a plateful of worry and tension.  Funnily enough, this extra pressure can help us rise to the occasion and act in a more organized way to get a lot done, than when we do not have that pressure! I should know…

We cannot ignore the ongoing “Graha Yuddha” or planetary war that has been occurring for several days  in the sign of CANCER. The two great benefics Jupiter and Venus are aligning in the sky, at the very same degree.  They need to get one full degree apart before the battle is over. This will occur early in the morning of July 3rd. In the meanwhile, to best understand this…think of two vehicles trying to occupy the same space at the same time. We know what that results in!  Astrologically, while these two plants are not physically colliding, the energetic significance of this occurrence does matter.  Venus left out of balance can give rise to “self indulgence” – not that we Cancerians would ever give in to such urges, right?  What are YOU laughing about, you Taureans and Librans? Those of you ruled by Venus could also be feeling some urges or impulses that you’d be better off avoiding right now. Venus does “win” this particular battle. I cannot help but wonder how my Pisces and Sagittarius friends have been feeling these past few days, as Jupiter rules their charts.

July 4th – Happy Independence Day!  Geminis will have plenty to celebrate as Mercury moves into your sign this very day. Having the ruler of your chart in its own sign, and your first house of self, body and personality will help you feel bright, clear, perky, friendly and communicative. I mean even more than normal (LOL).

July 4th – VENUS moves into Leo.  Okay, now the party moves to this fixed fire sign and the Cancer Rising and Moon sign folks will just have to deal with it (i.e. Venus leaving their sign). Not too shabby though, having this benefic now crossing their 2nd house of wealth, family and communication.  Leos benefit from feeling even more beautiful (“I’m a star, baby”) and affectionate than usual.

July 11th – Mercury goes “combust the Sun” i.e. traveling too close to the fire for comfort, so everyone may feel a little less tactful and diplomatic in their communications now…especially the Virgo and Gemini Rising and Moon sign folks.

JULY 13 – Here’s a big change! Jupiter only changes signs every 12.5 to 13 months. Today it leaves its exaltation sign of Cancer and enters Leo, joining benefic Venus there. This is a friend’s sign for Jupiter so it will still be pretty happy, though no longer exalted. Like I said, the party moves to LEO this month.

July 16 – Sun enters Cancer.  This is a beneficial transit for the Cancerians, as the Sun rules their house of wealth, family and communication thus shining a light of positive connection to these areas now. For the Leos, which sign the Sun rules, this represents their 12th house of loss and expenditure, as well as foreign travel. It is a house of isolation and/or seclusion, so they may feel more inward at this time.

July 20 – Mercury enters Cancer.  This placement represents good houses for both Virgos and Geminis, the signs that Mercury rules, so it should bring some positive results, ranging from increased income to greater connection with some family members.

July 25 – VENUS goes retrograde.  Here’s a chance to rethink certain possibilities and options you have been playing with, those with Libra or Taurus Rising or Moon signs. Remember that sometimes what looks like “obstacles and delays” can just be the chance to take a deep breath and look before you leap!  It does not go into direct motion again until September 6th so it may feel like a “long, hot summer” to you. Thus attitude and understanding means everything during this period when so many situations may feel beyond your ability to control.

July 30 – Mars enters Cancer, it’s sign of debilitation, where it typically “feels weakest.” However, the irony for the Cancerians of the Zodiac is that Mars is their Yogakaraka, or best planet, thus it can still bring in a wave of good events into their life, anyway. The main issues they will have to avoid now is having a short fuse, or being cranky or irritable (in Ayurvedic medicine this relates to the element of Pitta being out of balance).  Mars is a planet of energy and fire, so can stir up some ambition, too, and more initiative to reach goals and get things done.

New Year’s Day New Moon in Sagittarius – good for “new beginnings”

Are you ready for 2014?  We are off to a nice start on January 1st as the New Moon occurs at 4:15 a.m. MST in the fire sign of Sagittarius.

New Moons are known to be a great time to start something new, so I advise taking action on your New Year’s resolutions, even if it is just to write down an intention in your journal.  That may feel self-empowering, to set in motion the energy towards accomplishing your goals.  Of course 4:15 a.m. Mountain Time is rather early to roll out of bed and get into action, but that is the exact moment in which both Sun and Moon will be at the same degree and thus the official “new moon” in Sagittarius. The Moon is in this sign along with both Mercury and the Sun. Those with Sagittarius Rising and Moon Signs (in your natal birth chart) should especially enjoy the boost this gives you to start the new year with an optimistic spirit.

As 2014 begins, the two great benefics Jupiter and Venus are both in retrograde motion. Thus, the signs ruled by Jupiter (Sagittarius and Pisces) as well as those ruled by Venus (Taurus and Libra) may have that classic feeling of “some things going backwards” in their lives. Yet when a benefic planet is retrograde, it is even stronger to give its gifts, so this is not entirely a problem here.  Venus will “go direct” on January 31, and Jupiter not until March 6.

Venus is currently in Capricorn, a friend’s sign, but due to the retrograde motion, it backs up into Sagittarius on January 6. This will bring even MORE activity (and pleasure, comforts, luxuries, and earnings) to those with Sagittarius Ascendents or natal Moon signs! No complaints there.

After a couple of days with THREE planets in Sag. (Sun, Venus, Mercury), Mercury moves into Capricorn on January 8th. This is still helpful to the Sag’s, as communication will continue to be stimulated, plus their actions bring in money now and business should be good. For those ruled by Mercury (Virgos and Geminis), the Virgos will enjoy success and easy learning if their focus is on studies now (Capricorn is their 5th house). For the Geminis, Mercury in Capricorn represents your 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, so take care of your health now and don’t get too fixed on certain decisions made earlier, as they are likely to change. Yes, again!  LOL – Geminis are forever trying to decide between “on the one hand, this; but on the other hand, that” as their symbol is the Twins! Indecision thus reigns.

The SUN moves into Capricorn on January 14th and stays there for a month. This is not the most comfortable place for the Sun, on its yearly journey around the zodiac, as it is an “enemy’s sign.”  For Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, this is your 6th house of obstacles, enemies, rival and competitors, so better stay on your toes and try some relaxation techniques like meditation when you get home from all the stress at work each day.

For those with Capricorn Rising, like President Obama, the Sun rules your 8th house, bringing some vulnerabilities and thus still many fires to put out, so to speak, and a changing landscape upon which to navigate, rather than the stability which Capricorns would prefer.

Some of the exciting highlights of our upcoming slower-moving planet changes are as follows, and we will discuss these more in depth as we get closer to these dates are:

• 6/18/14 JUPITER enters CANCER, its sign of Exaltation! This will be a delightful development for those with Cancer Rising or Moon signs, as Jupiter represents good luck and good fortune, happiness, good judgment and for us ladies, it represents husband. What a grand 12.5 months this will be!

• 7/13/14 RAHU and KETU, the lunar nodes move, which only happens every 18 months. They always move backwards, thus Rahu enters Virgo, while Ketu will enter Pisces. This will actually be a HUGE blessing to get malefic tricky Rahu off the exalted Saturn in Libra. Finally Saturn should be able to give us the best of what it stands for in an unimpeded manner: duty, responsibility, structure, humility, dedicated service, and the ability for the mind to transcend. Those in the service industries will feel relief, at last.  Perhaps the minimum wage will finally get raised, at the national level.

• It will be so interesting to experience TWO of the slower moving planets being Exalted at the same time: Jupiter and Saturn. From the sign of Libra, Saturn will be aspecting (“looking at”) Jupiter, which may hold in check any tendency for Jupiter to be too expansive for that period.

VENUS in Capricorn; Mars/Mercury house exchange now

On November 30, 2013 MERCURY moved into Scorpio.

MARS entered VIRGO on November 26, 2013, so now they are each “visiting” each other’s signs.  Here is how this translates for the various signs of the Zodiac (you can learn your Vedic Ascendant and Moon signs by contacting me for a personal reading).

SCORPIOS benefit greatly from this 1st and 11th house ruler exchange.  This connects you to the house of “gain, income and fulfillment of desire.”  Some of the fruits of your previous actions should be coming to you now. Mercury also rules your 8th house so could bring also a few feelings of vulnerability, or some deeper insights that just pop into your awareness, or even some of what we call “other people’s money.”

VIRGOS – for you this is a 1st and 3rd house ruler exchange. This would bring courage, good vitality and greater motivation to get projects done, to name a few qualities.

12/03/2013 – MERCURY went combust the Sun (traveling too close to it, and feeling irritated and not as tactful as usual.)  Mercury rules the signs of Gemini and Virgo, so any of you with these Rising or Sun signs will feel somewhat easily annoyed and reactive until this combustion period ends on 1/20/2014.  

VENUS entered a friend’s sign, Capricorn on 12/05/2013.  It will stay there for quite some time – until 1/06/2014 due to being in retrograde motion from 12/21/13 until 1/31/2014.  The retrograde motion of a benefit planet, serves to make it more benefic, in Vedic Astrology.  CAPRICORNS will love having their best planet (yogakaraka) traveling through their first house of self, body and direction of their life, bringing the typical Venusian qualities of affection, enjoyment of luxuries, music, beauty and art. As your 5th and 10th ruler, it can bring you success in your career as well, now.  (Venus backs up into Sagittarius 1/06-2/25/2014)
