February, 2022 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

2/03/22 – MERCURY GOES DIRECT! Ah, what a relief, after another 3 week period of this condition, which interrupts communication devices at times, and creates misunderstandings in interpersonal relationships. We’ve once more made it through this cosmic monkey wrench in the affairs of man. This change will bring special relief to those ruled by Mercury, the Virgo and Gemini Ascendants and Moon sign chart owners. They will again begin to enjoy a sense of progress.

2/12/22 – The SUN moves into Aquarius. This is a better position for Leos, as the Sun rules their charts. Now it will be crossing their 7th house of partners, business, marriage and travel; a nice break after its month’s journey through their 6th house of stress, enemies, rivals and competitors, plus health issues. Aquarians benefit as well, as it is their 7th house ruler, and will be crossing their 1st hour of self, body, personality and direction of their life. It will attract partners to them, and perhaps some business opportunities.

2/18/22 – JUPITER goes combust the Sun. This condition will last until 3/19/22. Those who are ruled by this great benefic, the Sagittarius and Pisces Rising and Moon sign chart owners, may feel a little more easily irritated, restless and tense. Fortunately this period does not last too long.

2/21/22 – SATURN goes non-combust. Saturn has been traveling too close for comfort to the fiery Sun, which is an indication that those ruled by Saturn (Capricorns and Aquarians) could have been feeling more roughness and shortness of temper vs. their usual calmness and practical, objective problem-solving demeanor. This condition has been going on since 1/18/22, so it’s a nice shift now.

2/26/22 – MARS enters Capricorn at 3:19 a.m. MST. Mars is most powerful in this sign, where it is in Exalted status. Those ruled by Mars will benefit. For Scorpios, this is their 3rd house of energy, vitality and self-efforts. Courage will be abundant now, and motivation to get busy with some projects will be flowing. For Aries Rising and Moon signs, this is their 10th house of action, name and fame, career, and so we shall see a spotlight of popularity shining on our Aries friends! They will want to be out and about, “getting it done” rather than sitting around the house. That’s still a challenge as the pandemic drags on, curtailing activities in all of our lives.

2/26/22 – VENUS enters Capricorn at 9:48 p.m. MST. So it’s a double planet move day, and this proximity to each other in the same sign means that Venus and Mars will be in “planetary war” for a few days. They will also be in “the gap” as it takes a few days to get beyond zero degrees of the sign they’ve just entered. So neither will be in shape to give their best until they get some distance into Capricorn, and gain some distance from each other. Once that is achieved, we can expect both planets to bring great things to our Capricorn Rising and Moon sign friends. Venus is their Yogakaraka (best planet) and can bring all manner of good things their way. They will feel affectionate and their charming side can come out more now. Mars can bring real estate opportunity to them, and they will feel more active, creative and ambitious now. There’s been a real “planet stew” or pile up of several planets crossing Capricorn for some time. The cast of players keeps changing, but now Mars and Venus get added to the mix, with Saturn and Mercury already there.

March Preview: The Nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu move on 3/16/22. This will bring relief for our Taurus friends, who have experienced the “seizing and letting go” aspect of Rahu for 18 months now. Scorpios will be glad to be rid of Ketu’s limiting influence, with its qualities of hindrance, degradation, secrecy, etc., making them feel “not seen.” The Nodes always move backwards, so Aries will be the hosting sign for Rahu as of 3/16, and Ketu enters Libra, for the next year and a half. January 2022 – Vedic Star Planet Transits

NEW YEAR’S GREETINGS, Friends! Here’s a peek at major planet influences in the year ahead and details for this first month of the year. May 2022 bring everyone the blessings of good health, peace and prosperity.

Looking ahead to the Springtime, we’ll see great benefic JUPITER happily moving into its own sign, Pisces, on 4/13/22. This will be a very beneficial transit, and bring much relief to many. Not to be outdone, SATURN moves into Aquarius on 4/28/22, which is a sign it owns and it is in high dignity there. So both these planets will be able to deliver some of their best results once these transits start. Though Saturn is already content and doing well in its other sign of Capricorn. After Saturn goes retrograde on 6/04/22, it will “moonwalk” backwards into Capricorn on 7/12/22. Other big Spring change news: the Nodes of the Moon, RAHU and KETU move backwards. They will enter Aries (Rahu) and Libra (Ketu) on 3/16/22. This will be a relief for those with Taurus or Scorpio Rising or natal Moon signs, as they’ve been hosting the nodes for the past year and a half. We’ll discuss the impact on Aries and Libra charts when it’s time to create my March blog post.

1/03/22 VENUS will be combust the Sun (traveling too close for comfort) until 1/13/22. This can make this usually benefic planet a little grouchy, especially considering that Venus has also been in Retrograde motion since 12/19/21. Venus gets out of Retrograde on 1/29/22. Those ruled by Venus, Taurus and Libra Ascendants and Moon sign chart owners, will experience more progress after that date, and find situations that have been sluggish or even at a standstill can move forward once more. Even prior to that, they will feel much better once Venus is out of combustion on 1/13/22.

1/14/22 The SUN moves into Capricorn. This is not the happiest placement for the Sun, as it’s in an enemy’s sign here. For Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, this is their 6th house of enemies, rivals, competitors, worries, stress, delays and health issues. You get the picture….not a fine time for our Leo friends. This is the time of year in which it’s easier for them to experience delays and obstacles, and there is the need to be mindful of their health. For Capricorn Rising and Moon chart owners, Leo owns their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion, so may bring a range of these type of situations to deal with, during this one month transit.

1/14/22 MERCURY goes RETROGRADE. Yes, the year starts out with the appearance of this often challenging phenomenon coming up rather quickly, which can lead to crossed wires of communication, affecting also any communication equipment and delays especially for those with Virgo and Gemini Rising or Moon signs. It lasts until 2/03/22.

1/16/22 MARS moves into Sagittarius, a friend’s sign. This planet will energize our Sag friends and brings some success, as their 5th house ruler, but also there can be moments of desiring solitude or spiritual experiences, as it also rules their 12th house. Scorpio Rising and Moon sign chart owners benefit by the transit of their chart ruler through their 2nd house of family, wealth and communication. Aries chart owners also benefit, as here Mars will be moving through their 9th house of good luck, good fortune, and higher education, plus remedies and pilgrimage. Enjoy!

1/17/22 MERCURY becomes combust the Sun, which will dampen communications. Let us be mindful of the need for tactfulness and diplomacy, which Mercury normally provides. During this period, which lasts until 1/28/22, Geminis and Virgos will feel the pressure the most, especially with the ruler of their charts also being in Retrograde status during this time.

1/18/22 SATURN becomes combust the Sun, i.e. traveling too close for comfort. This condition continues until 2/21/22. During this time, Capricorns and Aquarians who are ruled by this planet, will experience some irritations and annoying snags in plans. Remember to practice patience!

December, 2021 Vedic Planet Transits

12/04/21 – TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE in the sign of Scorpio (in Vedic Astrology). A total solar eclipse sweeps across Antarctica on December 4, 2021. The instant of greatest eclipse takes place at 07:33 UTC, which is 1:33 a.m. on the morning of December 4 for us in North America. So North Americans will not see the eclipse. People located at the southernmost tips of South America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand will experience the partial phases. The path of the moon’s umbral shadow begins in the Southern Ocean about 300 miles (500 km) southeast of the Falkland Islands, crosses the Antarctic continent, and ends at sunset in the Southern Ocean. A partial eclipse will be seen within the much broader path of the moon’s penumbral shadow, which includes the Southern Ocean, southern Africa and the southeastern corner of Australia and Tasmania. Eclipses are inauspicious in Vedic Astrology, so we are fortunate that it will not be visible in North America. Those with Leo Rising or Moon signs may feel not as buoyant as usual when the ruler of their chart is eclipsed by malefic South node of the Moon, Ketu.

12/04/21 – MARS moves into Scorpio, its own sign at approximately 5:27 p.m. MST. This is a positive change for those with Scorpio Ascendants or Moon signs, and provides more energy and strength. Mars will help them experience more personal power, coming on the heels of the total solar eclipse described above, that happens earlier that morning in their sign. Also, with this shift, Mars gets out of its 12th house of loss, expenses, isolation and seclusion, so our Scorpio friends will begin feeling more sociable.

12/08/21 – VENUS enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign. What a blessing for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon signs, as Venus is their Yogakaraka, or best planet, bringing many types of gifts. For the signs ruled by Venus, Taurus and Libra, it will be a positive transit. Taureans get the chance to travel or have “pilgrimages” plus overall good luck, good fortune, and access to remedies. For Librans, they will enjoy the comforts and pleasures of home and time with friends. Their creativity may be directed to beautifying their home now.

12/09/21 – MERCURY enters Sagittarius, bringing relief to those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs, for it finally gets out of their 6th house where it has been multiplying their stress, anxiety and worries. Virgo is also ruled by Mercury and this placement is positive for them, to enjoy friendships and the home environment, and is good for their confidence, overall. Those with Sagittarius Rising or Moon signs may enjoy greater career success, attention from partners, and will feel very expressive now as their communication mood amps up now.

12/15/21 – The SUN moves into Sagittarius, a friend’s sign. This is a good placement for Leos, ruled by the Sun, for it represents their 5th house of success, learning ability, education, children and romance. Any of these areas could become a nice focus now for Leos. It’s also great for the Sagittarius Rising and Moon sign folks, as the Sun rules their 9th house of good luck and good fortune, and can bring an uplifting wave of power, energy and the ability to be the right place at the right time.

12/19/21 – VENUS GOES RETROGRADE. This appearance of going backwards actually makes a benefit planet like Venus stronger. Those ruled by Venus, the signs of Taurus and Libra, may experience some delays, blocks and slow progress until Venus goes Direct motion on 1/29/22. While it is Retrograde, it will back up into the previous sign of Sagittarius, on 12/29/21. So Sagittarians get another blast of this benefic planet’s energy, feeling more affectionate and creative.

12/24/21 – MERCURY gets out of combustion with the Sun, giving an easier flow of conversation and communication. It’s especially nice for Virgos and Geminis who are ruled by Mercury, and there should be less stress for them now.

12/28/21 – Mercury enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign. Virgos benefit by having the ruler of their charts now crossing their 5th house of success, education and children. However, it is a more challenging transit for Geminis, as the ruler of their charts will be transiting their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion, so it may be a time in which they don’t feel as grounded as they would like, and have to focus on taking care of themselves. Capricorns benefit from the good fortune Mercury brings as their 9th house ruler, however it also rules their 6th house so it may also bring some stress.

12/29/21 – VENUS moves into Sagittarius. See description above.

November 2021 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

November is the month of Thanksgiving, and we shall see what planet changes will be a cause for giving thanks.

11/01/21- MERCURY enters Libra this evening. That is a friend’s house for this planet of communication, commerce, diplomacy and friendship. It bodes well for both signs that it rules, Gemini and Virgo, as this sign represents positive houses for each. Libras can experience good fortune, as well as spiritual inclinations as Mercury rules their 9th and 12th houses.

11/05/21 – Mercury goes combust the Sun. This condition lasts until 12/24/21. It causes a planet to become irritable, and not able to live up to its full potential, we might say. This is not a helpful influence for communication in general, and especially for Gemini and Virgo Rising and Moon signs folks, as Mercury rules their charts.

11/16/21 – The SUN moves into Scorpio, a friend’s sign. This influence brings power and strength to those with Scorpio Rising and Moon signs. For Leos, who are ruled by the Sun, this placement is in their 4th house of home, friends, self confidence, and should bring comforts and a sense of being at ease.

11/19/21 Partial LUNAR eclipse – Regions seeing, at least, some parts of the eclipse: Much of Europe, Much of Asia, Australia, North/West Africa, North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic. This eclipse occurs in the sign of Taurus, where the MOON is exalted, because at this time it will be conjunct with Rahu, the malefic North Node of the Moon, which is also exalted there. Passions may run high in those with Taurus Rising and Moon signs. Be careful what you wish for… and try to maintain some patience and equilibrium today.

11/20/21 – Here’s the day of Gratitude that I mentioned above! JUPITER, the great benefic will get relief now, moving out of its sign of Debilitation and out of its conjunction with Saturn, in Capricorn. Those who will feel better nearly immediately (once it has moved far enough into Aquarius) include those with Gemini Ascendants and Moon signs, for the long haul transit through their 8th house of transformation, vulnerability, battles and disunion, has not been an easy one. Sagittarians are ruled by Jupiter and will experience greater vitality and energy as it enters their 3rd house, along with greater creativity and some regional journeys, plus the possibility of feeling closer to siblings. Pisces Rising and Moon signs are also ruled by Jupiter, but Aquarius is their 12th house so they may opt for greater seclusion and will need to watch out for losses and expenses. Those with Aquarius Rising or Moon signs now benefit financially to have their 2nd and 11th ruler Jupiter transit their sign. Capricorns will need to watch their spending, as this change means that the ruler of their 12th house of loss, will now be crossing their house of income, family and communications.

11/20/21 – MERCURY now enters Scorpio. This may bring some gain to those with Scorpio Rising and Moon signs, but also some vulnerability, since Mercury rules both their 11th and 8th houses. This 3rd house transit for Virgos is fine, boosting their energy and vitality. It is not as positive for Geminis, as it will be crossing their 6th house of health issues, and worry, enemies, rivals and competitors now. Mercury remains in this sign until 12/09/21.

11/28/21 – MARS gets out of combustion with the Sun. This will be a nice relief for both Aries and Scorpio Rising and Moon signs. Now actions can be a bit cleaner, freer from irritation, anger and impatience.

October, 2021 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

October – a month of Transformation. Blockages will be lifting, step by step, and much progress can be experienced after the 18th. It’s a real bada bing badda bam bada boom month of improvement as Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury each get out of Retrograde on 10/10, 10/17 and 10/18, respectively. Saturn and Jupiter have been Retrograde for quite some time, so there should be a collective sigh of relief soon.

10/01 – Mercury retrogrades back into Virgo, its own sign. So that part is good, the problem is just the tendency for this Retrograde motion to cause mix ups, misunderstandings and meltdowns when it comes to communications and various equipment related to same. All we can do is keep trying “Not to take it personally.” At least this sign represents good houses for both signs ruled by Mercury, Gemini and Virgo.

10/01 VENUS enters Scorpio. This is a beneficial placement for those with Scorpio Rising and Moon signs, for it brings partnership, foreign travel possibilities and positive spiritual experiences. For Libras, ruled by Venus, this transit is helpful for finances and closeness to family members. For Taureans, also ruled by Venus, This placement enlivens their relationship connects and may bring travel, and is good for business.

10/03 – Mercury begins traveling too close to the Sun for comfort. This state is called being Combust the Sun, so some of Mercury’s qualities can be harmed…this includes communication, tactfulness and diplomacy, so let’s all think before we speak! This combustion period lasts until 10/15.

10/10 – SATURN GOES DIRECT! It will still remain in Capricorn, its own sign, where it is strong, until 4/28/22 – well, it IS our slowest moving planet! This placement continues to be of value to those with Capricorn Ascendants or Moon signs, in a number of ways, including financially. Things will be much better, now that its begins to move forward. The other sign ruled by Saturn, is Aquarius. They will still be dealing with losses, expenses and some feelings of isolation, as this placement is their 12th house.

10/17 – The SUN enters Libra, sign of peace, harmony and balance. This is beneficial for those with Libra Rising or Moon signs, as it brings income and gain to them, ruling their 11th house. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, this is their 3rd house of energy, vitality and projects. They will have many areas of interest and become more focused on accomplishments they can achieve on their own.

10/17 – JUPITER GOES DIRECT! It will remain in Capricorn where it had recently retrograded back into, until 11/20 when it again moves forward into Aquarius. Those with either Sagittarius or Pisces Rising Signs or Moon signs will enjoy a newfound sense of progress, unimpeded now with many of the recent obstacles. Both should experience a greater flow in their finances.

10/18 – MERCURY GOES DIRECT! All those with Gemini or Virgo Rising or Moon signs will feel much better now, as the ruler of their charts feels more progress and a removal of obstacles and delays. Communication across the board for everyone, should improve now.

10/21 – MARS enters Libra. Mars rules both Aries and Scorpio. Those with Aries Rising or Moon signs will have better relationship progress, including with business partners. Travel is possible for them now, as well. Scorpios may have to contend with some losses and expenses now, and a tendency to withdraw and crave more solitude, or the converse, feel more isolated than they want to be.

10/30 – VENUS enters Sagittarius, bringing affection, creativity, gain and income, but also some stress as it rules their 6th as well as their 11th house. Librans now are now more drawn to the arts, music or creative projects; those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs will go through some changes and perhaps feel vulnerable (but still sexy!) as this placement represents their 8th house of Transformation and Vulnerability. They may have heightened intuitive awareness now.

September Planet Transits

September, 2021 has arrived! There are some big planet changes to describe here, which makes this a significant month, astrologically.

9/05/21 – It’s a three-planet move today. The Moon enters Leo; Venus enters its own sign of Libra, so it will be quite happy, especially to be getting out of its sign of debilitation; Mars moves into Virgo.

The Moon changes signs every 2.5 days, so there’s not enough time here to go into what each change means. In Leo the Moon will be in a friend’s sign. Cancer Rising and natal Moon sign chart owners will benefit.

Venus, and those ruled by it – Taurus and Libra Rising and Moon sign folks – will enjoy the strength and balance Venus now experiences, and how that reflects in their own lives and every day experiences. A focus on beauty, luxury, the Arts will now manifest and bring happiness, if these blessings are embraced. Enjoy, Venus-ruled friends!

Mars, and its effect on those with Virgo Ascendants or natal Moon signs – there can be feelings of impatience, irritability or just getting easily aggravated. These tendencies are magnified to a degree, due to the aspect on Virgo and Mars when it arrives there, from malefic Rahu. Wishing our Virgo friends the inner peace and calm that meditative practices may provide, to get through this transit. With Mars ruling your 8th house of Transformation, Vulnerability, Battles and Disunion, some of those qualities may overwhelm your normal practical logic and good sense. Mars remains in this Earth sign until October 21.

For Aries Ascendants and Moon sign people, this transit represents their 6th house of health issues, worry, stress and obstacles. It will be hard for Aries natives to “chill out” and take it one day at a time due to their nature to charge ahead, to “get it done,” but that’s just what they need to do right now. For Scorpios, the other sign ruled by Mars, Virgo is their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desire, so this transit can bring some nice benefits now.

9/14/21 – JUPITER – the big benefic planet, has been in retrograde movement while in Air sign Aquarius for some time. Today, that “backwards dance” causes it to return to Earth sign Capricorn where it will remain until November 20. While in Capricorn, its sign of debilitation, scenarios which had been set in motion during its previous sojourn there may finally come to fruition, or some situations that seemed settled may rear up again to be dealt with. It will be conjunct Saturn here, which helps give some “cancellation of debilitation” because Saturn is so strong in its own sign. Jupiter here brings some spiritual influence to Capricorns (its their 12th house ruler), as well as some good luck and good fortune.

9/16/21 – The Sun enters Virgo. Those with Leo Rising or natal Moon signs are ruled by the Sun. As it enters their 2nd house, this transit enlivens their connections to family, is helpful financially and conducive to greater communication. For Virgos, the Sun represents their 12th house ruler. As it crosses their 1st house of self, body and direction of their lives, this can be helpful for them to focus on inward, spiritual experiences. The paradox is that the Sun can also bring a sense of leadership to them for this 30 day transit. While it’s a good time to go within, it’s important be careful to avoid any unnecessary expenses which this transit may tend to bring.

9/21/21 – Mercury enters Libra, a friend’s sign today. This is a comfortable energy for Mercury, and supportive of more harmonious communication. Both signs ruled by Mercury, Gemini and Virgo, benefit, as the house that Libra represents for each, is positive. For Geminis it is their 5th house of children, learning, success and inclinations of the mind. For Virgos it is their 2nd house of family, wealth and speech.

9/26/21 – MERCURY goes RETROGRADE – until 10/10/21. This is not a great time to sign any contracts or start something new. During this time things may appear to be “going backwards” or feelings of being misunderstood or miscommunications may occur.  Anything that deals with communication may be affected, from my experience. Once again, it’s a time to employ diplomacy, tactfulness and mindfulness in our speech. Geminis are advised to resort to their clever sense of humor to make it through those big waves. Virgos, also ruled by Mercury, should employ their practical logic and skills of deduction and not jump to conclusions.

August 2021 Planet Transits

Is everyone ready for August? It’s here! With all the planet changes fit to print, as we consider the transit movements happening this month.

8/08/21 – Mercury enters Leo. This planet of communication, curiosity and friendliness can help make our Leo friends a bit more chatty. It’s also helpful financially to those with Leo Rising or Moon signs. Mercury rules the signs of Gemini and Virgo. Leo is the 3rd house for Geminis, so they can expect to be busy with projects now, including some writing. For Virgos, Leo is their 12th house, so there may be some losses, expenditures, or a feeling to be a little withdrawn and inward now, craving some solitude. This transit lasts until 8/25.

8/11/21 – Venus moves into Virgo. and remains there until 9/5/21. This benefic planet is debilitated or at its weakest in the sign of Virgo but still brings many benefits to those with Virgo Ascendants or Moon signs, for it rules their 2nd house of wealth and 9th house of good luck and good fortune, bringing those significations to Virgo’s front burners. The signs of Libra and Taurus are ruled by Venus. Taureans will benefit from this 5th house transit for them, as they should enjoy success, enhanced interest in learning and/or closeness to children. For Libras, this is a 12th house transit, so not as favorable, as it increases losses and expenses.

8/15/21 – Mercury gets out of combustion (traveling too close to the Sun) which status it has been in since 7/19. Communication in general should be more flowing now, in general, with fewer chances of being misunderstood. Virgo and Gemini Ascendants and Moon chart folks should feel more at ease now.

8/16/21 – The SUN enters Leo for its one month transit in this Fire sign, which it owns. Leos should feel very empowered during this period, with the natural leadership abilities shining. It’s important for Leo Rising and Moon signs to take care not to get overheated, either physically or in temperament at this time.

8/17/21 – MARS becomes combust the Sun, as its orbit brings it a little too close to the fiery orb of the Sun for comfort. Those ruled by Mars are Aries and Scorpio. They may feel a bit more impatient, restless and quarrelsome during this period, which lasts until 11/28. Yes, that IS a long period for Mars-ruled people to need to watch their temper, and tendency to do things too hastily.

8/22/21 – FULL MOON in Aquarius. The Moon is at its maximum point of fullness right at 6:00 a.m. Mountain time, in the sign of Aquarius. In this progressive sign of the humanitarian, may the full moon usher in energies of progress for society as a whole. For the Cancer Rising and Moon signs, which are ruled by the Moon, this sign represents their 8th house of transformation and vulnerability, as well as sexuality. Changes may bring some feelings of insecurity to Cancerians. However, it will be conjunct with benefic Jupiter here, so this conjunction brings protection and intuition.

8/25/21 – MERCURY will move into its own sign of Virgo at 23:48 p.m. MDT, so in the wee hours of 8/26 for those living east of here. It remains in this sign until 9/21. This is a very beneficial transit for both the Geminis and Virgos, and brings a great deal of intellectual clarity. As Virgo’s 10th house ruler it also can bring good career progress and personal power right now. For Geminis this is a 4th house placement, so their home life and friends will be highlighted, and self confidence should be healthy in this period.

July 2021 Vedic Planet Transits

I hope that July ushers in great blessings for you all. This month brings in a number of positive changes, as outlined below.

First and foremost is the move of Mercury into its own sign of Gemini, on 7/07/21, in the wee hours re Central and Eastern Times Zones (late at night for Mountain and Pacific times ones, on 7/06/21).

Since June 3rd, Mercury has been transiting the sign of Taurus, conjunct there with Rahu (the North Node of the Moon, who “seizes and lets go). This has not been comfortable for communication clarity in general, but especially unpleasant for those ruled by Mercury, the signs of Virgo and Gemini. If you have one of those Ascendants or Moon charts, tell me how much better you begin to feel after July 7th! This applies more so to the Gemini Ascendants or Moon signs, because all this time that Mercury has been in Taurus, because this is their 12th house of loss, expenses, solitude or isolation, causing them to experience some of those things. It has affected their self-confidence as well, since it also rules their 4th house. It will be a tremendous relief for them. Our Gemini friends will feel stronger, healthier, happier, more self-empowered and more like their usual friendly selves again.

7/16/21 – TWO planets change signs on this date. Early that morning the Sun moves into Cancer, a friend’s sign, where it will remain for a month. It joins Mars and Venus here, bringing a mixture of outgoing energy now for this often shy sign. For those with Cancer Rising or Cancer Moon charts, this can bring a closeness to family and also good financial success now, plus they will enjoy “shining in the sunlight” with some softer type of leadership energy. Yes, Cancerians will have to watch out for getting “overheated” in both the physical sense and in terms of temperament, with both fiery Mars and the Sun crossing their first house of self and body. Those ruled by the Sun, Leos, will have a time to go more inward, utilizing meditative techniques in solitude. It’s best to use the transit in this way, or…they could experience other 12th house significations: losses, expenses, isolation.

I must say a few words about the positive role Saturn is playing now, from its position in its own sign of Capricorn. Not only has this been beneficial to those with Capricorn Ascendants and Moon charts, it is doing Mars a favor here. Much has been made by some astrologers over Mars’ yearly transit through its sign of debilitation, Cancer. We must not forget that Saturn is providing TWO types of Neechabhanga Yoga (cancellation of debilitation) from its position in high dignity, from where it is also aspecting (looking at) Mars. Thus there is not so much to worry about, from my point of view. Saturn in Capricorn played this same role of providing Neechabhanga Yoga relief for Jupiter on its previous transit through Capricorn, and will again when Jupiter returns to this sign briefly from 9/14 – 11/20/21. 7/16/21 – The other planet to move this day is Venus, which goes into Leo. Venus remains in this sign until 8/11/21. While in Leo it will enhance the affectionate nature of those with Leo Rising or Moon charts, as well as their creativity. This is the 2nd house for Cancers, so this transit provides prosperity for those with that Rising or Moon sign. Libras are ruled by Venus, and should enjoy this transit through their 11th house of income, gain and fulfillment of desires. Taureans are also ruled by Venus. This transit represents their 4th house of home, comforts, friends, vehicles and self confidence, and thus the transit should contribute to a happy time for them.

7/19/21 – Mercury will be combust the Sun until 8/15/21. As we know, the effects can be rashness in speech, and loss of tactfulness. Watch out for temper, restlessness, being quick to anger or bouts of quarrelsomeness.  Don’t let any Pitta (fire element) imbalances get the better of you here.

7/20/21 – Mars enters Leo, a friend’s sign. where it remains until 9/05/21. This brings energy, courage and initiative to those with Leo Rising or Moon signs. It can also be beneficial to real estate matters for Leos. Mars rules the signs of Aries and Scorpio. This is a good transit for both. For the Aries natal Moon or Ascendants, it can bring success through sales, a sharpness in mathematical calculations, easy learning ability, and romantic opportunities. For the Scorpios, this is their 10th house of action, career, name and fame. It will boost their career success and ability to take decisive actions during this transit.

7/25/21 – Mercury enters Cancer. This transit is beneficial to both signs ruled by Mercury: Gemini and Virgo. For the former Rising and Moon signs, this is their 2nd house of family, wealth and speech. For the Virgos, Cancer is their 11th house of gain and income. For those with Cancer Rising or Moon signs, Mercury brings greater communication, potential closeness with siblings, but may also bring some expenses or tendency to go inward as it also rules their 12th house.

JUNE, 2021 Vedic Astrology Planet Transits

June 1st – MARS enters Cancer this evening, the sign where it is debilitated (i.e. the weakest).

This is actually good news for those with Cancer Ascendants or natal Moon signs, for Mars is their best planet, bringing royal results, as well as energy. Saturn provides Neechabhangha Yoga (cancellation of debilitation) as it is sitting in high dignity in the sign in which Mars gets exalted, plus it is aspecting Mars from there. Thus, technically, that is TWO types of Neechabhanga Yoga! Mars will stay in this sign until July 20th.

June 2nd – Mercury becomes combust the Sun, and remains so until June 19. That means, traveling too close to the Sun and having its significations “burned” a bit. That includes communication, commerce, diplomacy and tactfulness. It has also been retrograde since May 29 and will remain in that condition until June 22. Pay attention to your communication style and resist the impulse to speak before carefully thinking through, the potential impact of your words.

June 3rd – Mercury moves back into the previous sign of Taurus, in its retrograde motion. This presents some challenges for those with Gemini Rising or Moon sign charts. Venus, their 12th house ruler, just entered Gemini on May 28th. Now today Mercury retrogrades back into its 12th house, Taurus, owned by Venus. That is a 1st and 12th ruler exchange, connecting them doubly to the 12th house of loss, expenses, isolation, seclusion. The 12th house also signifies foreign travel and Enlightenment, if any of you are so lucky to have either of those options come up! This exchange of signs happens to be a good one for those with Taurus Rising or natal Moon signs, as for them it is the 1st and 2nd house rulers involved, strengthening their connection to family, wealth and communication.

June 10th – Remember that “Preview” that I gave you last month? Today there is an annular Solar Eclipse in Taurus that will not be comfortable for those with Taurus Rising or natal Moon signs, nor for the Geminis, with this cosmic event occurring in their 12th house of loss, and the lord of their chart, Mercury, being right there in the mix, conjunct Rahu and the Sun, and by the way Mercury will be 100% combust the Sun on that date! The annular phase of this solar eclipse is visible from parts of Russia, Greenland, and northern Canada. Weather permitting, those in Northern Asia, Europe, and the United States will see a partial eclipse, but it is always best to avoid being out during an eclipse.

June 14th – The SUN joins Venus in Gemini, where it stays until July 16th. Those with Gemini Rising or Moon sign charts should feel more energy, playfulness and certainly opportunities for romance and creativity. You will have to watch expenses, however. Leos will enjoy having the ruler of their charts going through their 11th house of gain, income and fulfillment of desires.

June 19th – Mercury gets out of combustion with the Sun, bringing more ease and smoothness in communications. Virgos and Geminis, especially, will feel some relief.

Jupiter 20th – JUPITER goes retrograde. while it travels through the Air sign Aquarius. This makes three of them, since Saturn and Mercury are also retrograde now. When a benefic planet goes retrograde, it actually enhances its benefic qualities and makes it stronger. Jupiter is such a generous planet, representing knowledge, wisdom, good fortune, and other blessings, that while transiting this humanitarian sign, it may bring the possibility of greater good works being done for humanity now.

June 22 – Two planet events today: VENUS enters Cancer in the early hours of the morning, and MERCURY goes Direct at 3:58 p.m. Mountain time. It always feels like a relief to get out of Mercury Retrograde! Having both Mars and Venus in their 1st house will make Cancerians feel playful, energetic, sexy and successful. This conjunction is also positive for their income and career aspirations.

May 2021 Planet Transits – Total Lunar Eclipse May 26

Welcome to May! Let’s see what’s going on with the planets in the Vedic Astrology system, in this usually balmy Spring month. The first week of the month things are off to a good start with the following improved planetary positions:

5/01/21 – Mercury gets out of combustion.

5/03/21 – Venus gets out of combustion.

Being combust the Sun causes a planet to become edgy, angry, not able to contribute its full range of positive qualities. This means that the affairs ruled in our charts and our lives that these planets represent can face obstacles, hang-ups, slow downs, misunderstandings and frustration. Mercury governs communication, diplomacy and commerce. Venus represents The Arts, beauty, music, luxuries, pleasures and desires. On top of those basic characteristics, each of these two planets governs two houses in your Vedic birth chart, and the areas those houses represent will also be affected during these periods of combustion, or being “too close to the Sun.” Thus, it will be a relief once these two benefic planets are no longer combust, and many aspects of life will feel easier and more flowing.

5/04/21 – VENUS enters Taurus, where it is happy and strong, because it owns this Earth sign. Those with Taurus Ascendants or Moon signs in their natal charts, will feel an increase of happiness and be more willing to engage in social interactions. For Libras, also ruled by Venus, this transit is not as positive, as Taurus represents their 8th house of Vulnerability and Transformation. Take care of yourselves until this transit ends, on 5/28/21.

5/14/21 – The SUN enters Taurus. For Leos, ruled by the Sun, this placement represents their 10th house of action, career, name and fame, thus this transit helps them to feel empowered and move forward with big strides. The only downside is that here, the Sun will be conjunct with malefic Rahu, which is strong in its sign of Exaltation. This can bring in more passion for the Leo goals, but also some mood swings. For those with Taurus Rising or Moon signs, the Sun brings leadership opportunities, and as their 4th house ruler, will attract friends and supporters now, plus the potential for positive developments with real estate. Passion and some mood swings have been going on for them during the entire period that Rahu has been transiting their sign since 9/19/20. The Sun remains in Taurus until June 14th.

Well, each month’s set of transits brings it share of challenges. In the second half of May, we’ll get our share of those, beginning with:

5/23/21 – SATURN GOES RETROGRADE! It remains in this status until 10/10/21. Saturn has been traveling through one of its own signs, Capricorn, since 1/23/20. Like all planets when in their own signs, it likes it there, bringing out some of its more noble qualities such as duty, responsibility, service, and humility. Saturn likes structure and routine. Those with this Rising Sign or Moon sign can also become workaholics if they don’t take care to balance work with rest and relaxation, especially during this Saturn transit. While it is in Retrograde motion, some of the more challenging qualities of Saturn may manifest in the lives of some: grief, separation, obstacles, setbacks, or chronic illness. Balance and preventative self-care will be the key to navigating this several month period of its time in Retrograde.

5/25/21 – MERCURY enters its own sign, Gemini, which is very beneficial to both the Gemini and Virgo Rising and Moon signs charts. Both will feel more empowered, comfortable and in their element. This is also supportive of better communication in general, for most of us. So this is a GOOD transit; enjoy while it lasts, which is until 6/03/21.

5/26/21 – FULL MOON IN SCORPIO TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE! Here we go, with one more second half of May challenge. This celestial event occurs with the south node of the Moon, Ketu, being conjunct with the Moon, in water sign Scorpio. Whereas Ketu is Exalted in this sign; the Moon is Debilitated there. Since the Moon represents mind and emotions, feelings will be more sensitive, run deep, and issues that may have been buried in the subconscious for some time are likely to bubble up, especially for those with Scorpio Rising or Moon charts, as well as for Cancer Rising or Moon charts, since the Moon rules that sign. The period of totality is just 14 minutes, making this a very shallow total eclipse of the Moon. Areas of visibility for this eclipse: Australia, western So. America, SE Asia, and the western USA and Canada. For those of us in Colorado on Mountain Daylight Time, the eclipse begins at 2:47 a.m. with maximum effect at 5:18 a.m., which ends at 5:44 a.m. I’m glad this will occur prior to most people being up and about as from the perspective of Vedic Astrology, eclipses are not positive omens and it is best to avoid viewing them.

5/28/21 – VENUS enters Gemini, a friend’s sign. This shift helps manifest positive experiences for the Taureans, in the areas of family connections, wealth and communication. It is also a big improvement for those with Libra Rising and Moon signs as here the ruler of their chart now enters their 9th house of Dharma, good luck, good fortune, Natural Law, remedies and pilgrimage. The 9th house is the best house in all of our charts. Librans will feel back on top of the world for the duration of this transit, which goes on until 6/22/21. The host sign Gemini, will enjoy the increase of affection and romance, for these often top-heavy-in-the-intellect-department Rising signs and Moon signs, and feel more playful and artistic in this cycle.

5/29/21 – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE! Yes, one final challenge comes at the end of May. This Retrograde motion period will last until 6/22/21. While Mercury is still in its own sign, that is not as challenging, but it will move backwards into Taurus on 6/03/21 and remain there until 7/06/21. Geminis and Virgos are both ruled by Mercury. When it goes backward into the previous sign, that is the 12th house for Geminis. That is the house of loss, expenses, isolation or seclusion. Time to be very mindful of expenses, and go inward with meditative practices. The best use of this transit is to focus on spiritual growth. I must mention that it will be conjunct with malefic north node of the Moon, Rahu, here. Rahu is “The Seizer,” it seizes and lets go, bringing discomfort to the body and personality, at times. Also, by now most of you readers have already experienced that a Mercury Retrograde period can cause havoc in interpersonal communications or sometimes communication equipment. The old “counting till ten” until we respond can come in handy now to avoid saying things we’d regret later. PREVIEW: When the annular Solar Eclipse in Taurus occurs on 6/10/21, that will not be comfortable for those with Taurus Rising or natal Moon signs, nor for the Geminis, with this occurring in their 12th house of loss, and the lord of their chart, Mercury, being right there in the mix, conjunct Rahu and the Sun, and by the way Mercury will be 100% combust the Sun on that date!
