July 1, 2014 – Mercury Goes Direct!

July 1st – we are again free of the Mercury Retrograde influence, which so often gums up the works with interpersonal communications or even communication equipment.  Those who are the happiest for this change will be those ruled by Mercury: anyone with a Virgo or Gemini Ascendant or Moon (and to a lesser degree, Sun) in the Vedic Astrology or Jyotish system.

Reminder: if you have not had your Vedic chart read by me as yet, this will help you understand how your birth chart appears in our system, which is based upon the Sidereal Zodiac: just take every planet and the also the degree of your Ascendant back 23 degrees from whatever they are in your western astrology chart, and that will give you a good idea of what your chart looks like to me, so that my Blog posts can be of use to you.

July 9th – benefic Jupiter, which has so recently entered its sign of Exaltation, Cancer, where we will enjoy its strength to deliver so much good for a little over one year, on this date will go “combust the Sun”. This means traveling too close to the Sun. Those with Sagittarius or Pisces Rising or Moon signs, may feel a little “hot under the collar” or have some Pitta-aggravation during this period, so try and watch your tempers as there will be a tendency to get annoyed over trivial matters. This period lasts until August 8th.

JULY 13th – the day we’ve all been waiting for!! Librans – finally some relief for you!  I am sure you remember my previous Blog report about the significance of this day.  Rahu backs up into Virgo, while Mars will move forward and join Saturn in Libra, and it stays there until 9/04/2014.  Just a reminder, Mars and Saturn don’t like each other! So I am very sympathetic, Librans, but there is still some intense energy for you to deal with until Mars moves away from its enemy Saturn. Still it is an improvement over having had RAHU (north node of the Moon) there for the past 18 months anyway!

July 13th – Venus also moves this day, into the air sign of Gemini, where it will be in a friend’s sign.  This represents positive house placements for both Taurus and Libra Rising signs and Moon signs, and Venus feels rather playful in this sign.

July 16th – Sun moves into Cancer, a friend’s sign. This represents the 12th house for Leos who are ruled by the Sun, so they could be feeling inward in a spiritual way, or have a chance for some foreign travel in the next 30 days, but also may feel some isolation. The Sun will be traveling here with its great friend, benefic Jupiter, which is certainly all positive for those with Cancer Ascendants and Moon sign folks — Sun brings 2nd house energy (wealth, family, speech) to the Cancerians of the zodiac.

July 20th – SATURN goes direct! It has been retrograde for quite some time, so this is a nice shift. Those ruled by Saturn are Capricorns and Aquarians. They will get a sense of “progress” now and forward motion, after perhaps treading water for so many months, since March 2, 2014.

July 28th – Mercury enters water sign Cancer, joining Jupiter and Sun there.  So the planets will be “having a party” in this compassionate, nurturing Sign of Summer!

MARS and SATURN are both retrograde now, as of 3/01 and 3/02

MARCH Planet Report: We currently have THREE planets in retrograde motion or “the appearance of going backwards” which does not bode so well for the areas these planets govern in your own natal Vedic birth chart.  You can also page down to previous Blog posts of mine, in which I describe at length the effect of planetary retrograde periods.  Planets get stronger to deliver what they stand for, while in retrograde. Mars and Saturn are considered malefic, plus they are enemies to one another, so traveling through the same sign i..e “being conjunct” is not an easy situation on a big scale, much less in certain individual charts.

On March 1^st at 9:24 a.m. MST, MARS went retrograde.

On March 2^nd at 9:12 a.m. MST, SATURN went retrograde.

Both planets have been traveling through the air sign of Libra, also conjunct with malefic lunar north node RAHU.  This malefic “planetary pile up” has been none too comfortable for those with Libra Rising or Moon signs (and to a lesser degree, Sun signs), for quite some time.  Hang in there, Librans!

As I have mentioned before, MARS and SATURN are “great enemies” so it is like rubbing two rocks together to produce sparks when they are traveling through the same sign. The President will have his hands full during this cycle, as Saturn rules his chart. At least Saturn is in the highest dignity, being exalted, but he will feel “up to his neck in alligators” including dealing with certain “foreigners” (Rahu governs foreigners) as long as these conjunctions continue.  There is just some roughness to be expected when the three strongest malefic planets have to share the same sign!

Who else gets impacted by this planetary placement? SCORPIO Ascendants and Moon sign folks, that’s who. Here in Libra, the ruler of your chart is now passing through your 12^th house of loss and expenses. This may also make you tend to feel isolated or conversely, prefer seclusion. You can expect the same results, once Mars returns to Libra on 7/13, after its sojourn back in Virgo for a few months.

MARS backs all the way up into VIRGO on 3/24 where it will stay until 7/13. That is a very long haul, indeed (it goes into Direct motion on 5/19).  VIRGO Ascendants and Moon sign people will not be as comfortable with this fiery malefic passing through an enemy’s sign here. Mars rules Virgo’s 8^th house of vulnerability. You could feel very active, restless, ambitious, but just not “settled” or comfortable, and perhaps even a little accident-prone.  VIRGO is the sign of the perfectionist.  On a global level, groups governed by this sign may fight to “prove” they are “right”!  Just a reminder that it is better to choose to be happy over “being right”, Virgos!

Mars was already in this practical Earth sign of Virgo from 11/26/13 through 2/04/14.  Therefore, projects begun in that timeframe may need to be revisited, updated or revised, to achieve final completion.

JUPITER, a great benefic, has been retrograde since 11/06/13. It finally goes direct motion on 3/06/14 at 3:19 a.m. MST. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces. Those who have these as Rising Signs or Moon signs, will be pleased to experience some forward momentum once again.

Remember to set your clocks forward one hour for Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning, March 9^th! (for all States that observe same).

MERCURY enters Aquarius on 3/11, joined by Venus on 3/30/14. This is a friend’s sign to them both and those with the fixed air sign of Aquarius as Ascendants or Moon signs will enjoy the playfulness that these two planets will bring.

The Sun is in Aquarius until 3/14, when it moves into Pisces. This is the 8^th house for Leos, the sign ruled by the Sun, so you could find yourself “going through changes” in the 30 day period beginning 3/14, as the 8^th house represents transformation, vulnerability and sexuality.

APRIL will feature a total Lunar eclipse on 4/15 and an annular Solar eclipse on 4/29, so “watch this space” as we’ll discuss the impacts of these celestial events, next month.

Three Planets Move Into GEMINI this week

Several planets are moving from Taurus into Gemini now.  

First the movements in chronological order, and then how they will impact you:

May 23, 2013 – Mercury finally got of “combustion” wherein it had been traveling too close to the Sun since April 28th.  VIRGO and GEMINI are the signs ruled by Mercury, so both Virgo and Gemini Ascendants and Moon signs will feel more comfortable now (and will feel less irritable and impatient!)

May 27, 2013 – MERCURY moved into Gemini, its own sign, where it feels strong and happy. Communications overall should be improved now as well as the ability to focus more clearly on details.

May 28, 2013 – VENUS moves into Gemini (close to midnight MDT). 

May 30, 2013 – JUPITER finally moves into Gemini….and Jupiter only moves about every 12 to 13 months! So this is a pretty big deal.

June 14, 2013 – the Sun will join these others, in the dual air sign of Gemini.

What this means for the following astrological signs:

It will be a special relief for Librans, Geminis, and Sagittarians. This is because for weeks now the pile-up of planets has been crossing Librans’ 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battle and disunion. It will be especially nice for them when VENUS, the ruler of their chart, gets out of their most challenging house (8th) and goes into the “best” house, the 9th, which governs dharma, destiny, natural law, good luck and good fortune, pilgrimage, etc.

For Geminis the previous planetary congregation has been intensifying the energy in their house of loss, expenditure and isolation. As these 3 benefic planets get all moved into Gemini (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter…later in June, the Sun), they will feel more gregarious, communicative and outgoing.  This is also a nice placement for VIRGOS, as the planets will be in their 10th house of career, action, name and fame.

For those with Sagittarius Rising or Moon signs, this clump of planets had been traveling through your 6th house of worries, health problems, anxieties, delays, etc. Now they are just moving into your 7th house which governs marriage, marital partners, business and business partners, and travel. What a welcomed change!

Let’s not forget that Mercury will once again go into Retrograde motion on June 26 until July 20th. MAY 2013 Planet Report: Venus enters Taurus; 2 Eclipses this month

The planets remain very intense, with 5 planets in ARIES and 3 of them are combust the Sun.

That changes to just 4 planets in Aries (Ketu, Sun, Mars, Mercury) today, once VENUS enters its own sign of Taurus, where it will be happier, and also then be keeping company with the other great benefic planet, Jupiter, who has been there for the past year.

If you have not read my blog post for last month (April, 2013), please do so. It was after I wrote that, that we had the following intense events: Boston Marathon bombing and chaos, Texas fertilizer plant explosion, deadly earthquake in China, Bangladesh clothing factory disaster, the big fire in southern California, and now Israel bombing an ammunition location in Syria.  The “fiery events” prediction I made has been coming true, since Aries is a fire sign and the Sun is most powerful in that sign, while Mars is in there too, and quite powerful there, as that is its own sign, but Mars is traveling too close (combust) the Sun and they are both conjunct with tricky Ketu! (south node of the Moon).

So the above is by way of a quick review.  As of right now Mars, Mercury and Venus are still all 3 combust the Sun, while in fiery Aries – Venus will remain combust even once it moves to Taurus today.

May 10th – annular SOLAR ECLIPSE.  This inauspicious event will occur while the Sun is still in Aries, and it will be visible in Australia, eastern Papua, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the Gilbert Islands, Indonesia, Oceania and the central Pacific Ocean. Effects are always felt most keenly in the areas in which an eclipse is visible. Please read previous blog posts of mine as to how the eclipses are defined and discussed by Vedic Astrology.

May 25th – Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Scorpio. This partial eclipse of the Moon WILL be visible in the Americas and western Africa. It is best to avoid looking at eclipses or partaking of food for 2 hours on either side of an eclipse, especially for pregnant women.

Planets begin to pile up in Taurus, the fixed earth sign whose symbol is the Bull.

May 4th – Venus moves into Taurus 12:51 p.m. MDT.

May 12 – Mercury enters Taurus 9:08 p.m. MDT.

May 14th – the Sun enters Taurus 10:50 a.m. MDT.

May 22 – Mars joins the others in Taurus 9:42 p.m. MDT.

JUPITER has already been in Taurus for a year (it will stay there until entering GEMINI on May 30, 2013) – so for a brief time there will be 5 planets sitting in this one sign, which fortunately is a more benign and not so fiery place for them, than Aries! 

Those with Taurus Ascendents or Moon signs will enjoy Venus sparking their creativity and when Mars joins in the fun, feeling more sexy and attractive. The Sun brings energy and Mercury the gift of gab or it will certainly stimulate better communications. This will be a big relief for our Taurus friends, after so long with the planet pile up that has been going on in their 12th house of loss and expenses.

To sum up….any month with two eclipses is not considered very auspicious. Whatever astrological sign is host to a “pile up of planets” can have a very busy time, and sometimes with too intense to handle events, a la what has happened all of last month with the pile up in ARIES.  As I mentioned, things should even out some once they march on into TAURUS, especially as the various planets get out of combustion with the Sun.

Venus goes non-combust May 6th; Mercury goes non-combust May 23.  Mars stays combust until June 27th, so those ruled by Mars (Aries and Scorpio Rising and Moon signs) will still be “feeling the heat” until then.

I am personally looking forward to Jupiter going into the Air sign of Gemini for a year as of May 30 – more on that in my next post.

After I wrote my post early last month, a friend forwarded me predictions from an eminent Indian Jyotishi, Narashimha Rao. He spoke of the same type of fiery events that I had mentioned, adding points about “The tricky and dangerous military/political events in the world” and “explosive situations.” Yes, we have seen a multitude of these events happening, both the man-made type and natural disasters.  I don’t expect to see any let-up of same until some of these planets both move into Taurus, a very grounded and practical (not fiery) Earth sign, and get out of combustion!

JUPITER is finally out of retrograde today! Jan. 30, 2013

JUPITER – great benefic planet that rules Sagittarius and Pisces, has been retrograde since 10/04/12, and just today went into Direct motion at 4:07 a.m. MST.

This change will of course highly benefit those ruled by Jupiter. My Sagittarius Ascendent and Moon friends have been especially hard hit with this 6th house transit which has been going on since 5/16/12.  Malefic Ketu was also traveling there with it until just recently, 1/14/13.  Jupiter moves into Gemini on 5/30/13, which will be a wonderful relief for Sagittarians. You can then look forward to a year of travel, and feeling closer to a partner.

It bears mentioning that it will take until the morning of April 25, 2013, for JUPITER to again reach the degree it was in, when it went retrograde last October.  Thus Sagittarians and Pisces folks may find they will get to (or have to!) revisit old issues or projects that got delayed then, and wrap them up or reach a sense of completion, at last.

VENUS – the other great benefic planet of the Vedic Sky, just moved into Capricorn on 1/28/13.  It joined Mercury and the Sun in this movable earth sign. The Sun owns Capricorn’s eighth house, so it can bring a feeling of vulnerability, but Mercury and Venus can make them feel more playful, alert and even focused on their considerable projects.

MARS – just moved from Capricorn into Aquarius on 1/25/13. Capricorns certainly would have been feeling the ENERGY and drive from Mars, exalted in their first house, but may have also felt restless, impatient, and prone to quick temper or anger, more than usual during this previous transit, so this move to the next sign, can feel like a relief and perhaps they will get more rest and feel calmer now.

Aquarians can benefit from the Mars energy now, perhaps feeling more initiative or a call to action, as Mars rules their 3rd and 10th houses.  Now is the time to act, rather than just continue to “think about it” or philosophize as Aquarians are sometimes want to do!

Librans, heads up! How’s that Rahu with exalted Saturn traveling through your first house of self, body, personality and direction of your life working out for you? Just checking.  I expect to hear from some of you any day now, wondering WHAT is going on!
