December, 2021 Vedic Planet Transits

12/04/21 – TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE in the sign of Scorpio (in Vedic Astrology). A total solar eclipse sweeps across Antarctica on December 4, 2021. The instant of greatest eclipse takes place at 07:33 UTC, which is 1:33 a.m. on the morning of December 4 for us in North America. So North Americans will not see the eclipse. People located at the southernmost tips of South America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand will experience the partial phases. The path of the moon’s umbral shadow begins in the Southern Ocean about 300 miles (500 km) southeast of the Falkland Islands, crosses the Antarctic continent, and ends at sunset in the Southern Ocean. A partial eclipse will be seen within the much broader path of the moon’s penumbral shadow, which includes the Southern Ocean, southern Africa and the southeastern corner of Australia and Tasmania. Eclipses are inauspicious in Vedic Astrology, so we are fortunate that it will not be visible in North America. Those with Leo Rising or Moon signs may feel not as buoyant as usual when the ruler of their chart is eclipsed by malefic South node of the Moon, Ketu.

12/04/21 – MARS moves into Scorpio, its own sign at approximately 5:27 p.m. MST. This is a positive change for those with Scorpio Ascendants or Moon signs, and provides more energy and strength. Mars will help them experience more personal power, coming on the heels of the total solar eclipse described above, that happens earlier that morning in their sign. Also, with this shift, Mars gets out of its 12th house of loss, expenses, isolation and seclusion, so our Scorpio friends will begin feeling more sociable.

12/08/21 – VENUS enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign. What a blessing for those with Capricorn Rising or Moon signs, as Venus is their Yogakaraka, or best planet, bringing many types of gifts. For the signs ruled by Venus, Taurus and Libra, it will be a positive transit. Taureans get the chance to travel or have “pilgrimages” plus overall good luck, good fortune, and access to remedies. For Librans, they will enjoy the comforts and pleasures of home and time with friends. Their creativity may be directed to beautifying their home now.

12/09/21 – MERCURY enters Sagittarius, bringing relief to those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs, for it finally gets out of their 6th house where it has been multiplying their stress, anxiety and worries. Virgo is also ruled by Mercury and this placement is positive for them, to enjoy friendships and the home environment, and is good for their confidence, overall. Those with Sagittarius Rising or Moon signs may enjoy greater career success, attention from partners, and will feel very expressive now as their communication mood amps up now.

12/15/21 – The SUN moves into Sagittarius, a friend’s sign. This is a good placement for Leos, ruled by the Sun, for it represents their 5th house of success, learning ability, education, children and romance. Any of these areas could become a nice focus now for Leos. It’s also great for the Sagittarius Rising and Moon sign folks, as the Sun rules their 9th house of good luck and good fortune, and can bring an uplifting wave of power, energy and the ability to be the right place at the right time.

12/19/21 – VENUS GOES RETROGRADE. This appearance of going backwards actually makes a benefit planet like Venus stronger. Those ruled by Venus, the signs of Taurus and Libra, may experience some delays, blocks and slow progress until Venus goes Direct motion on 1/29/22. While it is Retrograde, it will back up into the previous sign of Sagittarius, on 12/29/21. So Sagittarians get another blast of this benefic planet’s energy, feeling more affectionate and creative.

12/24/21 – MERCURY gets out of combustion with the Sun, giving an easier flow of conversation and communication. It’s especially nice for Virgos and Geminis who are ruled by Mercury, and there should be less stress for them now.

12/28/21 – Mercury enters Capricorn, a friend’s sign. Virgos benefit by having the ruler of their charts now crossing their 5th house of success, education and children. However, it is a more challenging transit for Geminis, as the ruler of their charts will be transiting their 8th house of vulnerability, transformation, battles and disunion, so it may be a time in which they don’t feel as grounded as they would like, and have to focus on taking care of themselves. Capricorns benefit from the good fortune Mercury brings as their 9th house ruler, however it also rules their 6th house so it may also bring some stress.

12/29/21 – VENUS moves into Sagittarius. See description above.
