JULY Planet Events:Lunar Eclipse 7/4-5

July 4, 2020

Bit by bit, the planets are inching along into better, easier positions in terms of how their energies affect us humans trying to “have a life” here on Earth. Here are the next few stepping stones on the path to some happier times:

July 4-5th – First we need to get beyond the full Moon penumbral (partial) lunar eclipse! Here are the important details: the Moon is now in the fire sign Sagittarius and here is where its conjunction with Ketu (south node of the Moon and a trouble-maker) causes the eclipse, in Vedic Astrology terms.  The time of onset, maximum fullness and completion are described below, as well as the locations in which it will be visible.

For those of us in Boulder, Colorado, on Mountain Daylight Time:

Local Type: Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, in Boulder

Begins: Sat, Jul 4, 2020 at 9:07 pm

Maximum: Sat, Jul 4, 2020 at 10:29 pm -0.644 Magnitude

Ends: Sat, Jul 4, 2020 at 11:52 pm

Duration: 2 hours, 45 minutes

Worldwide visibility:

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse: South/West Europe, Much of Africa, Much of North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Antarctica

As you can see, this one is visible all across our country, so the inauspicious effects will be felt here. Many believe Sagittarius is the Rising Sign of the USA, so this increases the intensity of the impact of this eclipse locally. Many Indian Jyotishis I worked with in the past feel that eclipses give their results from two weeks before, to two weeks after the event. Some feel it is even one month prior to one month after. Please remember that the Moon stands for mind and emotions, so having the light “put out” even partially, and temporarily, does not bode well, in traditional Vedic Astrology. As usual, it is not recommended to view eclipses.

Benefic Jupiter happily retrograded back into its own sign of Sagittarius on June 29 and will be there until November 20, 2020 (covering the time of the next presidential election!)  This is a very good thing, because some of its many significations include wisdom and good judgment. Thus we will benefit at voting time from Jupiter’s blessings.  Note that it will take until July 8 for Jupiter to be far enough into Sagittarius to be out of “the gap,” and thus gain its full strength and power. Then it can do more to improve our lots in life. Both Sagittarius and Pisces Ascendant and Moon sign people will benefit from the improved condition of the ruler of their charts.

July 9th – Mercury will get out of combustion with the Sun. This eases overall communication between people and helps restore some tactfulness in correspondence. Geminis and Virgos especially benefit from the of their charts’ ruler being no longer too close to the Sun.

July 12th – MERCURY GOES DIRECT!  The combination of being no longer combust the Sun AND no longer in retrograde motion, is a positive development, coming up soon!  Hang in there, Virgos and Geminis. Soon the pressure will be off, and progress can resume in your activities, goals and desires. Communication for all improves greatly.

So here we see a three-way improvement. Sort of a bada bing, bada boom, bada bam. The three above dates to keep in mind for more positive trends are: July 4, July 8, July 12th.

July 15 – the Sun enters Cancer, the movable water sign. This is a friend’s sign for the Sun, and brings benefits for those with Cancer Rising or Moon signs, including more personal power and better finances. For Leos who are ruled by the Sun, this their 12th house, so there can be more expenses, losses or a desire for seclusion. The other side of that coin can indicate feelings of isolation, or unwanted seclusion. Foreign travel is also a signification of the 12th house, but better safe than sorry on that score, at this time.

July 31 – VENUS moves into Gemini, a friend’s sign. This can restore feelings of love and romance for those with Gemini Rising or Moon signs. They are usually rather cerebral in nature but Venus will bring out feelings of affection, and a desire to enjoy beauty, art, music, pleasures and the comforts of life.

Libras should feel greatly relieved to have the ruler of their chart out of the 8th house of vulnerability and finally into their best house, the 9th, to connect them with good luck, good fortune, dharma, remedies, higher education and Natural Law. It’s fine for the Taureans, also ruled by benefic Venus, as this is their 2nd house of family, wealth and speech or communication in general. Venus increases the affairs of the house it is occupying, so it’s always nice to have a bigger cash flow, right, Taurus friends?

As you can see, the planetary conditions will bring us a better second half of July than the first half of the month, and certainly better than we had for all of June! Enjoy the shifts that are coming up, once we get about two weeks past the July 4-5th eclipse and out of Mercury retrograde!
