SUN moves into Cancer today
July 16, 2011The Sun enters the sign of Cancer today, July 16th.
For all those Cancerian Ascendants or Moon signs, this will draw family members closer to you, as well as better cash flow. For Leos, it means a feeling of isolation or some chosen solitude time.
Prior to this move, while still in Gemini, the Sun gave its light to form the Full Moon in Sagittarius in the wee hours of Friday morning. JULY 15th was Guru Purnima, the “day of the Guru” always celebrated on the full moon of July yearly. Salutations to all true gurus and spiritual teachers everywhere. Note that the moon soon moved into Capricorn, shortly after this full moon took place.
MERCURY moves into Leo on July 20th, and should have a fairly happy transit there, in his friend’s sign. That is until – wait for it! – MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE from August 2 until August 26th.
JUPITER GOES RETROGRADE ON AUGUST 20 until DECEMBER 25TH (Merry Christmas!) Let’s review what can be expected in a retrograde period, as it is crossing a friend’s sign, in Aries. First of all, when a benefic becomes retrograde, they get even stronger in their power to do good. So we don’t have to worry too much as to Jupiter. Mercury, however, ruling communication as it does, is another story. Here are some points to consider: during the retrograde time things may have seemed to be “going backwards” in your life, or feelings of being misunderstood or miscommunication may occur. Anything that deals with communication may be affected, from my experience. From some error on your bank statement, to telecommunications equipment, faxes, or computer problems, one must be prepared for glitches.
A retrograde planet allows time to view the circumstances impersonally and to decide what to do about it, unfettered by our emotions. These are times to use caution, make no important moves until the planet is in direct motion and its influence has “jelled.”
When a planet is retrograde, it is the time of germination of whatever has been planned when it was in direct motion. Then when it turns direct motion again, the time is ripe for acting upon the plan for full harvest. When a planet is retrograde in its transit, it appears to slow down and delay the effects due. This is a time of “marking time.” Then once the planet goes direct and then comes back across the degree it occupied just prior to going retrograde, there is always an eleventh hour opportunity for picking up the threads of an interest or advantage ignored earlier.
VENUS enters Cancer on July 23rd, which may add to the charming speech as well as prosperity of Gemini Ascendants and Moon signs. It stays there until August 16, then joins Mercury in LEO, soon to be followed by the Sun on August 17th, so a “planet pile up” will happen for the Leos and much leadership energy gets enlivened for them at this time.
